Those people who don't want peace whether Jew or Palestinian because they wish to retain all the territory for themselves, justify themselves by saying it's the other side that does not want peace. In this manner they hope to keep everyone on their side who wants peace fighting. The problem for Jews is determining how many Palestinians really want peace and at what cost. I don't believe G-d would send the Jews to an area where they would never have peace. That being said, we cannot be naive about Arab and Moslem intentions and most Israelis will have to be satisfied before any deal can be reached with them. If not then my belief is that Jews should settle all the land . Maybe the Arabs will leave. I don't think that the status quo of doing nothing is the answer to terrrorism.

The present talks are useless because Mazen is not in charge of Gaza and should not therefore be conducting negotiations. Nothing that he might sign would be worth anything since Hamas would not honor it. Plus Olmert is on his way out. He is certainly justified in condeming actions because he belives they are an excuse for war. Who has been firing rockets and blowing up Israels for the past 7 years? Who is the one that says he doesnt recognise Israels right to exist at all and that 2 states for him the idea od not ending the idea of the war continuing untill all islamic land is liberated ? We gave him Gaza turn it into an example of what 2 states could be like living side by side but in the past 2 years we have had thousands of rockets fired, tunnels dug to kidnap soilders from inside Israel, throwing members of Fatah off tall building. Destroying greenhouses that could have earned them millions of dollars and enabled them to grow their own food but destroyed them. They say they respect people of all faiths but they destroy syngougues bully christians in Bethlehem to drive them out. Once christians were the largest group in their holiest city f today they are a shrinking minority. Time to give the Ghandi of the 21st century a nobel PEACE prize.

The Arabs of the Land of Israel consistently demonstrate that they don`t want, can`t make and won`t maintain real peace. They do want, however, to weaken Israel by gaining territory without `giving` anything tangible. They ignore that "possession is nine tenths of the law" and that it`s rather the Arabs who should come forward and spell out what they offer Israel in return for what they want. They also pretend not to get it that in this case "land for peace" is both immoral and unworkable. The Arabs had used the `territories` to threaten, pester and attack Israel before we took these territories in self defence. They continue to plan, prepare and perpetrate genocide against Israel and pretend not to see that it would be suicide for Israel to concede anything in response to their threats and aggressive action. The Arabs must realize that the only way toward peace is that rather they themselves should offer, accept and be convincingly satisfied with `painful` compromises.

They involve ceasing to kill Israeli's/Jews. That is unacceptable to these ignorant savages. Perhaps the least painful compromise would be drving THEM out....to the other side of the wall. Yet another similarity between Bush and Olmert: neither one can finish sealing a border.

Some leaders like Mashal genuinely do not want peace. Unrest is their earning opportunity; how can he let it sleep through his fingers? And let millions of $ income end abruptly?

No such thing as negotiations....Palestians want everything and demanding it without negotiation. There is nothing they are willing to give up for peace. Negotiation is thw wrong word being used here. They should call it the mid-east demands.
