If you want to study torah, fine....but what cant you say drive an ambulance, or some other service to serve, that is if the IDF is not for you? I think the religious people should get their own units, where they live according to torah, and yet when it comes to doing battle....they should fight like lions....right? I mean if you are safe in your religious convictions, why be worried about death? Put these guys on the front line and have them spearhead the attack......Its about time the public respect them rather then belittle them all the time as for those that are simply after a cushy life and dont want to do their duty....round them up and put them in a special unit too.....Just dont make them spearhead anything, unless you want it to fail....maybe they could be a useful diversion..... If they get bushwacked by the arabs and break like the soft little cretins they are the arabs may become overeager to attack, and underestimate the next unit....the religious guys....lol then those guys would break them even easier

But why does that Torah study have to come at the expense of military service? Why does it have to come at the expense of the principles of equality and democratic values? Why does it have to come at the expense of seeking employment? Torah is our identity, but should it be the ONLY thing in our lives? That's just sick!

Those in Torah study also skip the dedication of Solomon of the First Temple when he told the ancient Israelite people that warfare had to be their number one occupation. IDF dodgers are foolish not to take the opportunity to learn the art of warfare since Israel and their loved ones are surrounded by enemies. To be LIKE God, one must learn warfare. True, David had blood on his hands, so he could not build the Temple himself. But understand: it was the blood of Uriah who was murdered that stained David NOT the killing of enemies in battle in lawful combat. God kills people every day and he is one one who resided in the Holy of Holies of the Temples one day a year.

Haredi and Orthodox Jewish children are like little lambs. My niece Tamara SCREAMED as a baby on a flight that lasted an hour. But those Jewish babies and children were like little angels. I salute their mothers and fathers who must be doing a lot more right than my sister who dearly loved her children, too. If the blessing of those Jewish parents on their children is also a blessing on Israel, that is a lot they give to their country. But they should take to heart the verse in Exodus 15:3 where the Lord says he is a man of war. They should also consider the dedication of the First Temple by King Solomon who told the people that warfare had to be their primary occupation.
