31. Do you 'really' want to know what's at stake ?
If you really want to understand what is happening - not just in the ME but in the world then please read, copy and circulate ..
http://zohye.notlong.com
It was published yesterday and I have never read a better article vis a vis Islam.
Mike
P.S. I said "copy and circulate' because I'm not sure how long it will be on this server.

32. #20, why do you assume that?
Because someone who works in "cultural studies" can write a few lines of english? - possibly but not definitely with the help of a translator?
The only safe assumption you can make is her intellectual level - low - and thank god for stereotypes....

34. Too much at stake to stop
I found this article interesting as it puts a parent's perspective on the situation. Her feelings about her sons going into the army are legitimate-nobody want's to see their loved ones go into hamrs way. It's understandable.
I wonder if she realzed when she signed on the dotted line to make Aliyah, that she is accepting a responsibility to the new country and to the Jewish People to defend Israel againsta her enemies. Israel may be tired now, but it cannot stop. To stop dealing with the sstiation in hand is unrealistic and could cost the state. There is too much at stake.

35. Yael
You can't choose what war to fight.
I spent most of my adult life defending this country. My daughter is now serving proudly.
I suggest that you leave if I don't like the facts that the Arabs are doing their best to kill us.
Idiots like you brought this on, now you have to pay for your personal stupidity

36. Tel-Aviv elite
that's the Tel-Aviv elite, left-wing intellectuals living in their Ivory Tower. So high up and remote from reality and sure that they can give away all of Israel and go on living as if there were no tomorrow.
But not to worry, there are enough mothers in Jerusalem, the Negev, the Galil, in kibbutzim and moshavim, mothers that do not even know where their sons put their lives in the line of fire so that Yael Mishali and her ilk can sit behind their computer desks and write rubbish.

37. This Woman Is Right But
when the civilized world reads her comment and I quote her
"Yes, I know that we can no longer bear what’s going on in Sderot. Yes, I know that life is intolerable in Gaza-vicinity communities."
we wonder what planet the Israelis live on. Things are bad in Sderot and other areas but have you ever thought how bad they are in Gaza? Israel has created a ghetto in Gaza that would rival the Warsaw jewish ghetto during WWII. One day your leaders will pay for the crimes against Palestinian humanity. And Israelis in general will be thought of as Sharon's Willing Executioners. Shame on your sad little racist apartheid country.

38. sons and war
Dear Yael Mishali,
YOu don't want your sons in Gaza, that's fine. Are they going into combat units? If they are they are going no matter what you want. I understand no parent wants their children in harms way, however, we are and have been fighting a war for a long time and will continue to fight no matter how you feel about it.
You and your family really only have two options, one leave the country or have your sons in noncombat support units.
If we go into Gaza it is because we have to. Hamas and other terror groups are going to fight us no matter what you feel or think, better we take the fight to them then they come to us.
I've been there and fought there and will go again if I am called up.
So dear Ms, Yael Mishali shut up

I don´t want to idolize Germany, but there are a lot of benefits a Jew receives in Germany: 1) no military or civil service 2) safety 3) social benefits 4) good education, and almost free of charge anf finally as a citizen of the European Union you can work wherever you want in the EU & all over the world and don´t need Visas for most countries. I, for exapmple, consider to move to Canada after completing my study at the University, since I know from many of my pals and relatives that Canada is a great place to live; it´s safe and offers many opportunities for young university graduates. Should there ever be real peace in Israel I´d instantly move there, to Ramat Gan (my favourite city in Israel). But this won´t be in the forseeable future. Live is too short to live and fight for survival , I just want to live, pursue happiness and my own goals

yeah, for true Israelis it´s sometimes difficult to understand how Jews can immigrate to Germany. We all know history and nobody denies what happened here. But times changed and there´s a totally different Germany now and the generation of those murderers has almost died out. It´s pretty ignorant to condemn a whole nation for crimes their ancestors commited. You have to visit Germany one day and you´ll see that this is a good place to live.

44. Thank you, k (#11) and all who serve in IDF
My thanks go to those like "k" who put their lives on hold, and often their lives on the line, to defend their country.
To those like the obviously self-centered author, I offer only my disdain. Perhaps she thinks freedom is free. One can only hope her son has a better sense of duty.

45. Take your sorry butt along with your
spineless tuity fruity sons and hightail it here to Quebec where I can put you up at the local Chabad house where you will be able to catch religion like a cholera..
After your welcome runs dry I will take you down to the local Fritterie and introduce you to poutine and spruce beer.
After you'll be called a ugly looking kike bitch and after you're two dimwitt sons will have their heads handed to them, you'll cry the blues to have the local Israeli consulate send you back to Israel.

51. Arrest her now. Throw her sons out of the army
I assume the left will be calling for her arrest because this is sedition.
Her sons obviously can't be trusted so they should be refused entry into the IDF, refused entry into University and refused employment.
Indeed we should investigate who inspired this seditious article. Everyone who knows her should be investigated

But the best alternative is to bombard gaza with artillery and by the air. Hit them so bad that they run from gaza. Let them be a lesson to all our enemies.

53. Us recruits face the same problem "THE MOMMY FACTOR'
Moms want whats best for their kids and instruct them not to join the army as our troops are being slaughtered there.( Iraq)
A $20,000.00 'sign up fee' is now used to intice recruits.
A draft will be necessary if this persists.
ISRAELS HANDS ARE TIED BY POLITICIANS WHO'VE NEVER SEEN A DAY OF WAR AS A SOLDIER!
THE MAIN CULPRITS ARE BUSH, RICE, CHENY, OLMERT, ETC.
IF A MOM KNEW HER SON HAD A CHANCE TO WIN, I DOUBT SHE WOULD BE SO ADVERSED TO HER SON LAYING DOWN HIS LIFE FOR HIS COUNTRY.
HOWEVER, SUICIDE IS NOT AN OPTION.

54. I'm sorry there is no other choice, never was, never will be
When you have cancer, there is no chice but to undergo Chemo therapy or die. When you are inside a burning building and no one will help you there is no choice but to run out through the flames or die. And when you are under attack thre is no choice but to go to war or die. No matter how badly you want there to be another choice, no matter how illogical a world without another choice may seem, the fact remains that no other choice exists. I understand that you don't want to lose your sons in a screwed up war like Lebanon II; have them die for nothing, but Lebanon II was so badly screwed up exactly because the government and higher echelons were looking for an alternative; a means to stop the rockets without escalating the war and conquering Lebanon; well they found it; they ran away leaving the kidnapped soldiers in captivity and flushing the sacrifice of the dead down the drain; is that the alternative you want Madam? And before you start attacking me for writing this from America you should know that this search for an alternative is exactly why my parents left. We came during the Shamir years, when people knew when there was no alternative to war. We suffered through Oslo, had a brief glimmer of hope under Netanyahu, and finally left when Barak came in because my parents knew that Barak would be looking for alernatives to war when there are none and htat any operations he and his successors would authorize would be notthing but half-harted wastes of human life! You want your sons to be able to win this war Ms Mishali? Get your leftist friends to elect a Prime Minsister taht will let them do it; and I and many others will come back to fight by their side.

58. to rivka and igor
to rivka: your brothers did the right thing by avoiding going to vietnam. It is sad that you call your own brothers "yellow-bellied" and choose not to associate with them. The vietnam war was generally a large failure at the outset since the chinese and the french were waging war there for over 300 years before american came. the soldiers fought and died for nothing and their country abandoned them. I would never let my son fight in iraq. the price of oil and the revenues of halliburton are not worth his life. additionally, arabs don't want democracy (this point is obvious). So you should congratulate your brothers for their principles.
To igor: one day you will actually finish your studies, grow up and become a man. Then you will realize that sometimes there are causes that men need to fight for (and sometimes even die for)...life is not all about your comfort and safety. Thank G-d for the IDF and the brave israeli boys and girls.
The point needs to be said that israel should start assassinating hamas leaders and cut off all electricity. Don't kid yourself... assassinations do work... every negotiation between israel and palestinians have started with their request to end assassinations.

palestinians created their own ghetto. Could have had peace in '48, in '67, in '73, and again today. Your choice to go to war...your choice to create your own ghetto. To quote abba eban..."the palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity." True then and true now.
