1. GOOD, THEN ISRAEL GETS TO RETAIN THEIR LAND
JOHN ,   SA,TX   (11.17.07)
AND BESIDES THERE WASNT GOING TO BE REAL PEACE ANYWAYS.
2. Muslim hypocrites cannot make peace
Bernard Ross ,   st ann bay, jamaica   (11.17.07)
There are many muslim states, such as saudi arabia, where only islam is recognised. The fact is there will never be any real peace with the muslims.
3. Good!
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Samaria   (11.17.07)
Oh, I'm so glad! As the Israeli "leadership" is spineless, the only hope for the Jews rests with the usual stupidity of the Arab palestinists.
4. NO SURPRISE!!!
al mann ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.17.07)
Of course there can not be a Jewish State, according to Muslims. It's totally against their beliefs and aims to their existence. They have tried to convince many ignorant people that this is their homeland when they know it isn't. It is the task of the Ishmaelites and the Edomites not to accept the existence of the Children of Israel, in order to awaken the Children of Israel to its past, its mission, and from whom its protection comes. It's time for all of us to WAKE UP!!!
5. Swap territories
Amos ,   Israel   (11.17.07)
It is clear that the Arab Israelis are not interested in living under Israeli rule. This is the time to swap the Israeli Arab villages along the border for Jewish settlements. They will retain all their lands and houses and will live under Palestinian rule.
6. this is more nitwittery
velvel in decatur ,   decatur, georgia   (11.17.07)
Is this man one of Jimmy Carter's playmates or just someone who we should invite to the US so that Bush can pretend that he is not mentally deranged?
7. Arabs don't recognize Israel at all
Frank ,   Canada   (11.17.07)
8. Palestinian unity the way to peace
Naftali Lavie ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.17.07)
MK Barakeh and the Monitioring Committee are correct to take this position. The Palestinian people are not only those living under Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza and Jerusalem. The Palestinian people includes those living in Israel since 1948, AND the refugees and exiles abroad. Recognizing Israel as a "Jewish State" disregards the rights of the Palestinian citizens of Israel to equal rights, and the refugees' right of return. A "Jewish State" goes against modern ideas of democracy and human rights for all. More and more Palestinians recognize that asserting Palestinian rights in unison is the way to freedom, and to peace. It's time for more Israelis to recognize basic democratic principles and the political conclusions flowing from them.
9. Interesting how the Communist Party of Israel, a mostly Arab
Ori Yerushalmi ,   Yerushalaim, Israel   (11.17.07)
party, refuses to recognize one of the major principles in Communism which is the right of peoples to national self-determination!!! The Jewish people is obviously a nearly 4,000 year old people whose nation-state, the Jewish state of Israel is here by right. But it is interesting how those who for years have attempted to annihilate it - through all out wars, wars of terror, economic, political and demographic attempts to choke Israel - refuse to internalize and accept the obvious and the right thing. The result, we, Israelis must question what the Arabs really mean by "legitimate rights" of their own and don't they actually mean to eliminate the state of Israel by stages and the "peace process" is only one such a stage. And of course it would be easier to eliminate an entity that they consider illegitimate, hence the refusal to recognize the Jewish state of Israel as such!!!
10. There's NO NEED for ANYONE'S APPROVAL to recognize Israel.
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (11.17.07)
Israel is here to stay be'ezrat Hashem, if you and other anti-Semites, like it or not. The Knesset's only concern should be the security of the country and getting rid of the enemies in its neighboring states.
11. that's to be expected
eddie ,   london Uk   (11.17.07)
the object of all arab "pece" talk is the destruction of the Jewish state
12. give all recive nothing
zionist forever   (11.17.07)
Since Oslo Israel has made concesion after concesion Natanyahu even gave up Hebron and the result of each concesion is give us another one or we will give you another terror attack there has never been any peacemaking efforts made by the palestians. Now we are about to have this big summit in Anapolis and Olmert is all set to give up just about everything Israel has left to give ( eccept for himself ) but his good old friends who are supposed to be moderate partners for peace and are not Hamas they refuse to make a concesion as simple as recognising Israels right to exist as a jewish state. The only thing we will get back from Annapolis is Olmert himself and he is the one thing we can do without.
13. That's because they deny that we Jews are a nation....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (11.17.07)
just disgusting. AND forget about the "right" of "return" for the descendents of arabs who left our country. Its bullshit and lies and will NEVER EVER happen.
14. Olmert's demand is meaningless!
Steve ,   Fla.   (11.17.07)
So what? Even if the Arabs recognize the pathetic rump that is left of the Jewish state, as a Jewish state or a state of the Jews, this is meaningless. They will still continue to plot and plan to erradicate what is left of this tiny Israel. I expect however to see this wimp of a prime minster, this terrible Jewish prime minister, this weak-willed Jew, withdraw his silly demand that the Arabs recognize Israel as a state of the Jews; as a Jewish state. What Jew! What a wimp of a Jew this Olmert is!
15. The Wolves can go to Hell
Brod ,   USA   (11.17.07)
Israel can tell the wolves to go to Hell and stop meeting with them. Israel should focus on developing and blooming its biblical and historic territories of Judea and Samaria. The wolves can return to their historic homeland in Southwestern Arabia where they originated in the 7th century. The West should stop being manipulated by the Wahhabhists-the chief sponsor of Islamist-Jihadist terrorisms around the world.
16. Seems like they will be unable to participate in the next
redmiike ,   tel aviv and london   (11.17.07)
elections! If that holds true it is great news for both Jewish and Arab Israelis !! Israeli law stipulates that no party can participate in the elections if it rejects the democratic and Jewish nature of the State of Israel.
17. Arab members of Knesset
Hilda ,   US   (11.17.07)
Since they find that they are unable to recognize Israel as the Jewish State what are they doing in the Knesset.? I suggest they be removed immediately since they are not loyal citizens and ousted from the Jewish State which they hate and let them go live in one of the many Muslim states from which they originated and let them take all of their followers with them. Israel can be Arabrein just as the Arab countries are Judenrein.
18. What is left to negotiate?
Sidney ,   USA   (11.17.07)
The Palestinians and Arabs by this action have indicated that whatever is agreed to they still intend to destroy Israel.
19. The Middle East Before Islam
scott ,   chicago   (11.17.07)
Palestine has never existed -- before or since -- as an autonomous entity. It was ruled alternately by Rome, by Islamic and Christian crusaders, by the Ottoman Empire and, briefly, by the British after World War I. The British agreed to restore at least part of the land to the Jewish people as their homeland. There is no language known as Palestinian. There is no distinct Palestinian culture. There has never been a land known as Palestine governed by Palestinians. Palestinians are Arabs, indistinguishable from Jordanians (another recent invention), Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis, etc. Keep in mind that the Arabs control 99.9 percent of the Middle East lands. Israel represents one-tenth of 1 percent of the landmass. But that's too much for the Arabs. They want it all. And that is ultimately what the fighting in Israel is about today. Greed. Pride. Envy. Covetousness. No matter how many land concessions the Israelis make, it will never be enough. What about Islam's holy sites? There are none in Jerusalem They want to return their land... they NEVER had land. So what's the solution to the Middle East mayhem? Well, frankly, I don't think there is a man-made solution to the violence. But, if there is one, it needs to begin with truth. Pretending will only lead to more chaos. Treating a 5,000-year-old birthright backed by overwhelming historical and archaeological evidence equally with illegitimate claims, wishes and wants gives diplomacy and peacekeeping a bad name
20. Why even bother....Annapolis is doomed to fail.
Johnson ,   USA   (11.17.07)
21. What part of Hudna does the world not understand?
Psalms 83 ,   Selah   (11.18.07)
Quote :"The Higher Arab Monitoring Committee unanimously decided Saturday to reject Israel's demand that the Palestinians recognize it as a "Jewish State" as a part of the peace negotiations. The Palestinians have also announced that they reject the Israeli demand. " =============== Virtualy all the Islamic powers to be in the Mid-east Believe in Hudna ( a temporay peace till resources become available to finish the job of removing israel form the mideast ) Untill the world understands Hudna is a dishonest peace there will be no peace in the mid east ...period
22. Jews in Arab lands reconised Moslem States
EgyptJewRefugee ,   Geneva, Switzerland   (11.18.07)
The Jews who lived in Arab lands always recognised them as Moslem States. For this we were kicked out. If the Arabs in Israel don't accept Israel as a Jewish State they should leave and move to their own Palestinian Moslem Stare.
23. Demand recognition that the Earth is flat!
Alex ,   california   (11.17.07)
Ridiculous that Israel continues to demand that which she already has. Before it was that Israel was there. Now that it's the Jewish state. Even more absurd is that Arabs continue to deny the obvious. Arab Monitoring Committee demonstrates once again that it's the fifth column and will never reconcile itself to the existence Jewish Israel. Population exchange is the only reasonable accommodation. Should have started with Gaza! Let the Israeli Arabs have a taste of PA government. Dear Arab friends. You can not repeatedly negotiate on the principle of: "What's your is mine and what's mine is a sacred Arab Waqf ". And you Jewish Israeli - wise up to that as well.
24. Throw the Commies out of the Knesset
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (11.18.07)
I'd say throw out the Arabs too, but that would be "racist" wouldn't it.
25. #19- You spoke about the Arab position perfectly.
Cameron ,   USA   (11.18.07)
26. arab recognition of jewish state
geroge   (11.18.07)
Asking arabs to provide recognition of jewish state is worthless. Israel doesn't need it from them, because their word is worth zero. According to the hudna, its just a step till they can drive jews out of middle east which is their ultimate goal. Only a moron like Olmert and a bs artist like lieberman(a stooge of putin) think that their rocognition precludes right of return. The IDF prevents the right of return. The Israeli people will never forget Olmert and Ramon and all the blood that has been shed because of their errors. What comes around goes around. Retirement will not be pleasant for both of these gentlemen.
27. Cancel the talks then .
(11.18.07)
28. What's new. This has been their position for 60 years.
Cynic ,   USA   (11.18.07)
29. dont count on validation from arabs
alexi   (11.18.07)
i do notthink arabs would ever recognize israel's right to exist. this is something that is just not going to happen not now not ever. forget the foolishiness and jus begin to expand judea/samaria. at all costs...you ca not make peace with these crazy arabs anyways. it is just not possible. when israel wakes up to that fact the maybe we can stand our ground against world opinion
30. The end result
PE Haberman ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.18.07)
This is the culmination of an accident of history: of the Armistice and ceasefires which have denied the Jewish State of its rightful unconditional victory over its Arab neighbors. Such artificial cessation of hostilities created the historical anomaly of the “Israeli-arabs”. Had our war of survival been fought to its rightful conclusion, the so-called Israeli-arabs would have opted to leave Israel. Now we are negotiating with an enemy which refuses to recognize the core of our existence, and we are ruled by leaders who are willingly giving away our land to this enemy. In our benevolence and liberal stupidity, we have sowed the seeds of our destruction.
