I'm with you. Within the last two weeks I went to out to Black (burger place at Ramat Ha Hayal) and they asked me if I would like to sit in smoking or non, of course I said non. Sure enough, the non-smoking section was located outside, with no heating, however, the smoking section was inside. The best part about eating there was that my food had to travel through out the restaurant where everyone was smoking to get to me. Of course management had no concern of the health risks that the smoking section was located next to the kitchen. P.S. They have the same disregard for non-smokers at their branch in cinema city. Either way, I won't be going back.
32. to #7 Smoking is an addiction
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (11.21.07)
Smoking is not a habit. It is an addiction no less than heroin or cocaine. My mother smoked for about 40 years and it killed her in the end. She tried to stop, but she was just too addicted. Lung cancer is one of the kinds cancer that has almost zero success of treating. It's a horrible way to go. From the time you find out you have it, you will be dead in about a year. You will suffer unbelievable agony and lose weight until you look like you came out of Aushewitz. Chemotherapy usually doesn't help and you will suffer terrible side effects from it. I wouldn't wish such a death on anyone. You smokers should ask yourselves if its worth it.
33. They are not enforcing the law
Simon ,   TA Israel   (11.21.07)
I was at a wine bar the other night in Neveh Sedek and people were smoking there blowing smoke in to other peoples faces . Its all very well introducing laws but if theres no one to force it then its useless. Sorry to all you smokers but i really dont want to start coughing and ending up smelling like an ash tray.
34. This is not about smoker's right to smoke....
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (11.21.07)
...it's about MAKING MONEY off smokers. This is not a class action by smokers asking for the right to poison others - this High Court challenge is run by commercial establisments (bars, clubs, etc.) who see themselves threatened by the "no-smoking" bill. They'd rather poison others than losing money - not unsimilar to the other big polluters. Next they would ask to be able to sell alcohol to minors again! I say trash this attack on public health and send them home with the tails between their legs. The right to a pollutant-free life supersedes ANY OTHER IMAGINARY RIGHTS THESE SCUM CLAIM THEY HAVE!
35. Smoking
Talula ,   Israel   (11.21.07)
I don't mind not being allowed to smoke inside a restaurant, but I was told I couldn't smoke OUTSIDE as well!!! That can't be right!
36. Carbon Emissions
Talula ,   Israel   (11.21.07)
I guess all of you that are getting all bent out of shape about smokers, are not breathing in carbon emissions to your clean protected lungs. Environmental pollution, people, is everywhere. So, if you fear for your health, I suggest you: sell your cars, turn off your fridges, hermitically seal your homes, don't go on buses, airplanes, trains, don't walk anywhere, don't watch TV, use a computer, printer, cooker or anything else. And, those of you who live in Tel Aviv, may want to pop along to Reading and see how much crap is pouring out the chimney there and straight down your trachea. But then of course it’s much easier to blame a table of smokers than any of the appliances that make your lives easier. Cig anyone?
37. WOW
gabriela ben ari ,   jerusalem   (11.21.07)
With Olmert handing to terrorists tons of armament to kill us.... How bad can a bunch of smokers calling "on the right to kill us pasively" can get?
38. Smokers are losers.
Josh   (11.21.07)
Imature individuals who have no self confidence to the point that they would partake in a deadly habbit that injures others...and PAY FOR IT! Worse is once they have entered the habit out of poor judgement, they complain they are hooked. Hint:Thats why you dont start. Additionally they affect those around them. As a child I was exposed to second hand smoke and suffered from bouts of bronchitis with nasty couging fits that went on for months. I remember feeling like I was going to choke to death. Thank G-d as an adult, I dont smoke and my lungs healed. What kind of phsyco voluntarily does this to children and to others? They need to grow up and put down the bad habbit. Then they can be counted amoung real adults who use their brains. Do you know how much a family suffers when they watch a loved one with raxxles in their lungs and living on oxygen tanks while cancer removes their hair in a most undignified manner? I have been their on the short-of-breath ambulance calls when I was a medical first responder in the inner city. People who can barley lift their hands because they hand no engery of life left. Stop already!
39. Ynet - Immature and with an Agenda to boot...
David ,   Modiin, Israel   (11.21.07)
It seems that Ynet, or at least some of its journalists, have a narrow and immature agenda. They want to continue to smoke and trample on the basic rights of everyone and anyone to go out and enjoy themselves at restaurants and clubs without both endangering themselves and simply having an unpleasant experience. Furthermore, Yediot Ahronot (Hebrew Edition) reported on pubs and restaurants who wanted to further trample on the law and flood the police with false reports of smokers to "prove" that the law cannot be enforced! Yediot did not provide names of these lawbreakers, so in effect is protecting them. The real news is that the majority of Israelis are able to now go out and enjoy themselves. You hear it from the employees at restaurants and pubs, as well as other customers. Ynet prefers to ignore this, and focus on that narrow law-breaking and selfish minority that wishes to continue to keep the rest of us at home...
40. "Sufffer unbearably"?? Right...
David Teich ,   Rehovot   (11.21.07)
California, the 8th largest economy in the world, has a similar ban. Business at small pubs went up, since smoking regulars didn't stop coming, but went outside to smoke, while non-smokers started coming to the pubs because they'd no longer be exposed to smoke. I hope the courts throw out the suit as frivolous, but I doubt they will.
