So the land of the Canaanites that your own religion acknowledges, did not initially belong to the Jews, where the Jews slaughtered and expelled the indigenous population by religious decree! Now the same is happening to the Palestinians! "We have not taken any foreign land" indeed. There is such a thing as hypcorisy in this world, look in the mirror and you might understand!
32. Sakis, have you heard of Emperor Hadrian?
Jake   (12.08.07)
He was a tolerant Roman Emperor, originally from Spain. He was a fanatical Hellenist who believed in Hellenizing all his subjects. He was a homosexual boy-lover, and the love of his life was a Greek boy called Antinous. When Antinous died, Hadrian name a city in Egypt after him - Antinopolis. Because the Jews refused to submit to forced Hellenization, such as a ban on circumcision, Hadrian expelled them from their country, and erased Judaea from history. He renamed Jerusalem Aelia Capitolina, and erected a temple dedicated to Capitoline Zeus. Hadrian was also unpopular among the Romans themselved, and a very crass and cruel ruler. But he was a good pagan, and an avid Hellenist that respected everybody's gods!
33. Sakis, this is spurious nonsense and lies
Jake   (12.08.07)
"So the land of the Canaanites that your own religion acknowledges, did not initially belong to the Jews, where the Jews slaughtered and expelled the indigenous population by religious decree! Now the same is happening to the Palestinians!" A complete and total lie. Just to remind you, Greeks expelled indigenous peoples in ancient and modern times. Such was the way of triumph in history. To this day you still cannot decipher Linear A, because it was a language spoken before the Greeks arrived an conquered the land. In the Balkan Wars, Greeks also expelled many peoples. In Ottoman times, historical Athens was populated by Albanians. What happened to them? What happened to the Slavic and Moslem communities in northern Greece?
34. Marwan, what ridiculous laughable lies
Jake   (12.08.07)
"why are you twisting god's historical facts about this struggle?! you wanna tell me that you really don't know how The Jewish Agency played every dirty trick in the political book to extract jews from every arab corner?! ask any old mizrahi jew about why they still miss their home countries." Everyone misses the land where they were born and their memories. In the case of the Jews in Arab countries, they were robbed, bombed, unjustly accused of crimes Arabs had committed and hanged, expelled, and massacred in violent pogroms. The synagogue in Aleppo was burned to the ground, with assistance from police and army. This is the dirty trick, Marwan. Jews were taught to remain silent in the face of brutal Arab barbarity. The Arabs expelled and robbed the Jews in a vicious, cowardly fashion, and they have never admitted the extent of their crimes. But believe you me, the bill is coming; it is coming soon, Habibi.
35. George W, of course it is hard to understand
Jake   (12.08.07)
because you got it all wrong. The settlements are located in a different place than the Arab towns, and Jews did not move into Arab homes. The only exception is Hebron, where Jews had been living continuously until they were massacred and expelled from the city in 1929. Does that make it a little simpler for ya there buddy?
36. "Secular Eagle", what if the settlers don't accept payment
Jake   (12.08.07)
What if they refuse to leave? What are you going to do then?
37. #31 your pathetic rant does not deserve a reply
jack bauer   (12.08.07)
oh, and by the way.....I'm not a jew surprise! When I look in the mirror I see an impartial dutchman.....and I'd bet looking at you I'd see a jew hater
38. What about the Arabs
Joshua ,   Orange US   (12.08.07)
I agree Pay to ship out the Arabs who do not accept a Jewish State of Israel
39. #30, Marwan the liar
Yoav Ben Zakai   (12.08.07)
As an ISRAELI JEW, who is a Mizrahi, with roots from Babylonia (my ancestors have lived there for 2 millenia before it was even known as Iraq and before the Arab-Muslims conquered it), i can tell that you have probably NEVER spoken to Mizrahim and Sephardim. The majority of us have NO interest in returning to our countries of origin. I was born and raised in Israel and my parents were born in Iraq. What they miss are memories and nothing more. They fled Iraq for very very good reasons, after witnessing the terrible Farhud pogrom of 1941 in Baghdad, before Israel even existed, where innocent Jewish Baghdadis were attacked by mobs with clubs and knives, dragged from buses and bludgeoned and Jewish women and girls raped before their families, looting their homes and shops. They fled after the Arab countries created an atmosphere of HATE and ANTISEMITISM and xenophobia and lashed out at the Jews who had lived there for at least 2 thousands years and contributed immensely to the economy to the culture and building of the country. They witnessed personally how "brotherly" love can turn into murderous hatred. Too few stood up to defend their rights as fellow and equal Iraqis. They have no interest in going back to a region that destroyed its Jewish population and has been virtually empty of Jews for the last 3 decades or so. They fled because they lost all their properties and assets and citizenships and security. All because the pan-arab hypernationalism refused to face reality and thought they could defeat those dhimmi Jewish ahal al-kitab. They left because it became almost a crime to be Jewish. Come to Israel ya ustaz Murwan al Urduni and see for yourself, not from some anti-zionist and anti-israel article written by some radical leftist. Our families struggled in Israel and they built themselves from scratch rather than sitting on the ground and beating their chests for half a century. They suffered but they moved on and looked to the future and the future of their children and grand-children and participated in the building of our country, its not perfect, but it is ours and we built it with our sweat, tears and blood. No ya ustaz Murwan, we may share some common culture, but we have no interest in living under Arab-Islamic hegemony as minorities again. We know very well how disingenous you are when you and your fellow Arabs claim that all was "Samna wa 'asal", sweet and peaceful, between Jews and Arab Muslims, and it was all "Zionism's fault". We have no need for this kind of "ukhuwa" (brotherhood). They may have loved Iraq in their childhoods but that Iraq is long gone. Salam
40. Fine - but hands off my tax dollars, you nutjob
Noah ,   New York   (12.08.07)
You can believe whatever you want. But if you think that your bloodthirsty religious fanaticism will be forever subsidized by the American taxpayer, think again. Sooner or later people here will get fed up, no matter how many times AIPAC and ADL cry anti-Semitism. Sooner or later we'll stop subsidizing your religious war.
41. Overlooking the book of Joshua and the conquest of Canaan.
Peter ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (12.08.07)
Wallerstein quotes Shimon: “We have neither taken foreign land nor seized foreign property, but only the inheritance of our forefathers, which at one time had been unjustly taken by our enemies." This point of view conveniently overlooks the book of Joshua and the conquest of Canaan. After all, Abraham the father of the Hebrew children, was born in Ur, in what is now Iraq. If my father steals something from somone and I then inherit it, my claim is no better than his. Of course, colonialism has always been a part of human history. It even predates humans. Pack animals compete for territory, and the winners drive the losers off. Your claim to territory is only as good as your ability to drive off competing clamants. We are not doing anything others don't do, but let us at least be honest about what it is we are doing. We are colonizing a territory, that's all. It happens to be our second go at it in this case, but that doesn't matter. A failed first attempt can't be used to justify a second. I mean, how would it sell if the Italians or the Normans had a second go at colonozong England, and tried to justify it by their failed first attempt? Each colonization stands alone, and depends for its validity only on force. David BEN-GURION (Israel's 1st P.M) 1938: “If I were an Arab leader, I would never sign an agreement with Israel. It is normal; we have taken their country. It is true God promised it to us, but how could that interest them? Our God is not theirs. There has been anti-semitism, the Nazis, Hitler, Auschwitz, but was that their fault? They see but one thing: we have come and we have stolen their country. Why would they accept that?”
42. Yep
Sasha ,   Tel-Aviv   (12.08.07)
Not only that, but as we pay our settlers compensation, the compensation to arabs should be paid from PA money

46. Jehovah God says; "I have heard the reproach.....
marilyn   (12.10.07)
by Moab and the abusive words of Ammon, with which they have reproached my people and kept putting on great airs against their territory......................." woe to those inhabiting the region of the sea the nation of Cherethites, The word of Jehovah is against you O Canaan, the land of the Philistines I will also destroy you, that there be no inhabitant....And it must become a region for the remaining ones of Judah.."
47. TOO BAD WALLERSTEIN DID NOTHING TO STOP THE EXPULSION
Rob ,   NY, Galut   (12.10.07)
He's what is called "controlled opposition", and can be counted on to oppose the government to a point, but push comes to shove, he tells his people NOT to do any protests that could actually stop the evil decree.
48. Secular Eagle
AK   (12.10.07)
As we speak, ethic Serbs are being cleansed out of their historical and actual homes in Kosovo by Albanian Muslim invadors and you are quiet. As we speak, ancient churches are being burned to the ground and the EU is planning to establish a second Albanian state in Kosovo, the state that will be a jihadist paradise and to hell with the Serb families born and bred in Kosovo. So, your selrightious outcries are quite selective -- Muslims have god's given rights (even for secular pretenders), Arabs have inalienable rights, but the Jews and Serbs, on the other hand, can go to the back of the bus.
