5. Now is the Time For Israel To Get Serious

Hezbollah has violated virtually every provision of the cease fire that ended the war. yet nothing much is done. The UN is serving in fact, to guard Hez from Israel..it's a buffer against Israeli raids. Israel's overflights are criticized by the UN, and the French have threatened worse. Syria continues unabated to smuggle arms, while shoring up it's presence in Lebanon. Israel has no say in anything it appears affecting it's security, even though the cease fire. Israel's mistake: not obliterating Hez when it had the opportunity. Doing so, would have diminished Syria's and Iran's role and influence. It's obvious that few countries want Israel to win anything. Even Har Homa is an issue with Condi..as are every aspect of the settlements, both legal and "illegal". Hadash is considered (by the PLO) the leader of their 5th column in Israel. Why don't they just send reps to the Knesset, or Judiciary while they are at it. If Israel is not a Jewish state, then what is it? The Arabs are a minority, but will dictate Israel's survival, once they become the majority. They know it. Israel needs to be much more aggressive in avoiding this calamity. I am pessimistic.
6. On UNIFIL
Jakov   (12.08.07)
It doesn't surprise me that UNIFIL would get stopped while in Beirut. They are only charged with the southern border areas, and in a small area at that. While it's not really too useful, it does provide for the peace, if a very cold one at that. It would stop being useful if a conflict broke out. The IDF would have to rescue them because, UNIFIL would no longer be seen as a neutral party by the Lebanese.
