3. Watch out for this statement...
Spinner ,   World   (12.10.07)
In their verdict, the judges wrote that, "Whoever murders an innocent man only because he is of another nation or religion cannot expect much sympathy from the court. The time elapsed since the crime was carried out neither dulls its severity nor justifies a lesser punishment." As it sets a precedence!!!

Does this court have a jury? Surely a murder case should by tried by an impartial judge and jury, not a military tribunal where the judges, the jury and the prosecution (and no doubt the defence) are from the military.
5. No death penalty?
Jackie ,   Florida, USA   (12.10.07)
As there is no death penalty in Israel, this is the maximum sentence that could be given. Please note that in most countries, there is always the potential for prosecution for murder, even if it was committed many years ago. But I would not care to make any bets on how long it takes before this guy is released in one of a series of attempts to placate the Arabs.

at least in israel the court didn't sentence him to hanging, stoning while alive, burning at the stake or suspension of his neck from a very high crane in the middle of a frenetic frenzied crowd of barbarians....just like yourself!

Just like myself? I don't propose stoning people to death. I endorse the Western liberal - democratic approach which israel also signs upto. It is therefore strange that israel uses military courts to try murder cases. If the man was an 'enemy' and tried by a military court that makes him a POW and not a murderer but a soldier. Could you also enlighten me as to which countries burn people at the stake.
8. Livni & Olmert will release him soon
(12.10.07)
as a goodwill gesture to our Palestinan Peace partners Peres might even give him a medal
