61. Real Jews
Fani Mae Howard ,   Chicago, USA   (12.16.07)
There are white jews it's true. Why? For the sake of confusion. The real Hebrew-Israelites were black. With frequent travel, access to the internet for the purpose of research, the truth has finally leaked out.
62. #61 unfortunately you are confused
jack bauer   (12.17.07)
I have read the books on the subject, and even personally know a few of the so called "black hebrews", including those that live near dimona..... they are rather confused and wishful in their thinking. I would guess it stems from not really knowing where they are from, and latching onto ideals and stories of special, chosen, enslaved, or lost people (we the black jews) was one of the titles, but I will just say that it is wishful thinking, and they have more in common with ethiopians or rastafarians

I find Danny Adino Ababa's comments sadly lacking in understanding of his own heritage. The Beta Israel themselves are not Jewish either but Israelite having settled in Ethiopia before the destruction of the first temple and therefore before Ezra's reforms that created Judaism. The Sheba-Menelik Cycle in the Kebra Nagast has the ORIGINAL Torah of Moses and has none of the laws in Deuteronomy. The problem for the Beta Israel is that by embracing Zionism they have abadnoned their own past which is the solution to the present dispute in Old Testament studies. The Promised Land and Ancient Israel and Judah were not in Palestine but Israelis as as whole do not have the moral courage to admit it.

I am sure you have something to back up your claim? Because according to all historians Palestine was indeed the Ancient Israel. Your claim is like someone claiming that the Ancient Egyptians did not live in Egypt.
65. Shir, #43, that is not surprising

The genetic proximity of Kurds to Jews makes sense, given that the original Biblical homeland of the Hebrews, Aram Naharaim (northern Mesopotamia) is now part of modern Kurdistan. Traditionally, the town of Urfa in southeastern Turkey has been venerated as Abraham's birthplace (the identification of the Sumerian city of Urimma in southern Iraq as the Biblical 'Ur' is probably an error), and the nearby town of Harran was Abraham's home where he received the call to leave the land of his birth and go to Canaan. I would also add that a number of Mediterranean peoples have also been identified as genetically close to the Jewish people, in particular central/southern Italians. In Hollywood movie roles, Jews and Italians often play eachother's ethnic group quite convincingly. (A good example is Sal Mineo as the Irgunist Dov Landau in the epic film 'Exodus')...or Jews, Henry Winkler (Fonzy), Peter Falk (Columbo), and James Caan (Sonny Corleone) cast as ethnic Italians.
66. Who is a Jew?
Yishai ,   Denver   (12.17.07)
If you guys like history, you will love this. Onkeles was a nephew of a high statesman of Rome. Onkeles decided to "convert" to the religion of the Israelites. After all of this was done, his uncle got highly upset and sent 5,000 men to capture him. Onkeles spoke to them and explaind the Mazuza to them. So the men heard this and all 5,000 converted. His uncle sent another 5,000 and so it happened again. And the third time Onkelos converted another 5,000 men. Lets do the math, that is 15,000 men who had families who also converted. If these 15,000 men who had families converted, who are their decendants? Are they the ones who look Mederteranian or were they people from all over the region that Rome has conqured? Throughout time people have been switching over to Judaism like the Russian Khazars in 740AD. So to say who is a "real Jew" goes deaper than just skin color. I feel it goes by how you live. Yeah, you can be born into the tribe and you can still be connected if you are not even close to Torah. You can also be a Ger and follow the laws and Hashem will ultimately decide and not a group of men or women.
