I happen to agree with your comment. I a Jewish born, American who is Black seem to encounter that mindset all over the US. For some sick reason, people seem to use color as identity. That is actually no an accurate way of looking at anyone. White Jews and Black Jews are enfluenced by WHERE they live to some degree, but Jewish identity is something that follows us everywhere we go. I believe it is time for Jews all over to get a grip on reality. Instead of focusing on the color of someone's skin why don't you focus on your own midot. Maybe with that little bit of push you won't be so quick to continue this "chilul hashem" and show the world WHY we are the "chosen" people and not like the "popular" jewish menatlity of the "better" people. to be clear: humans are NOT white or black (or red, yellow, or green)! we are all varying shades of pink to brown, depending solely on the levels of melanin, a pigment in the skin which fluctuates in response to sunlight. "race" is an imaginary categorization, without scientific basis. children of the same parents can have different "racial" characteristics, particularly skin tone, whereas the scientific view is that we are all one species (any pair of fertile humans on the planet can interbreed). furthermore, judaism cannot be a "race", because it accepts the validity of conversions (both in and out). at the very least, you can't change your "race" by dunking yourself in a mikvah. god may have created dogs to teach us at least one important lesson: even though dogs DO come in white and black, is the colour of a dog any more than just personal preference?
