1. COL HACAVOD YNET
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (12.17.07)
It does not happen often but Ynet deserves credit for letting someone write a article who has a healthy moral compass combined with a sense of ethics. In the vast amount of darkness that Ynet publishes it is nice to see a point of light shining trough. Who knows maybey we can look forward to some more points of light coming from Ynet.
2. 44% of young Palestinians are willing to immigrate if given
Jew ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.07)
Its more logic to offer compensation to those people who want to leave voluntarily. 44% of young Palestinians are willing to immigrate if given the opportunity. Unsuspicious source: http://home.birzeit.edu/cds/opinionpolls/poll28/highlights.html
3. Col hakavod Elyakim Haetzni
Proud Jew ,   Rehovot   (12.17.07)
A beautiful piece, well-researched and well-written. Through all the gloom & doom of the regular news items, here is an optimistic and realistic piece that has certainly raised my spirits today!
4. David, I guess
Willy, not Judea ,   and not Samaria   (12.17.07)
by "healthy moral compass" and "sense of ethics" you mean self-righeously occupying a foreign country and oppressing its citizens on the basis of a 3,000 year old fairy-tale? Or is it just plain aggressive expansionism?
5. Olmert
Israel Israeli ,   tel aviv   (12.17.07)
Haetzni's brilliant last paragraph describes Kadima and Olmert perfectly: "a hedonistic, cynical, and corrupt minority that effortlessly slides down the mountain"
6. I Am Willing To Accept Their Money
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (12.17.07)
not to move to Judea and Samaria. I will then give it to someone who does.
7. Goebbels
Steve ,   Fla.   (12.17.07)
Goebbels predicted that if the Jews get a state they will sell it for money? Isn't this what the leaders of Israel are trying to do?
8. Top 10 Yariv Oppenheimer responses to the article
YMBMY ,   Modiin, Israel   (12.17.07)
10. Kiryat Arba - what is that- it has no historical significance - its not like Avraham Avinu lived there!! 9. What does this guy have a problem accepting money from strangers? - I get money from Europeans all the time. 8. Let me get back to you in a minute, I have to finish scrubbing Saeb Erakat's back. 7. Why doesn't this guy understand that whenever Israel vacates land, the Palestinian peacefully take it over - just like in Gaza. 6. Honestly, what's thousands of years of Jewish heritage between friends? 5. If the Palestinians have Kiryat Arba - they will be in striking distance of Jerusalem where they can fire Kassams right on the Old City - wait, strike that, someone just spiked my drink! 4. I don't know why this guy is so upset - look, all those who left Gaza are now living in penthouse almost as fancy as Suha Arafat! 3. I'll tell you what, I'll trade you your house in Kiryat Arba for one of the Bedouin "houses" in the Negev. 2. Look at the bright side, when you get chased out of your home, you won't need to pay arnona. 1. It is official policy of Peace Now not to commiserate with Jews who are getting discriminated for the reason that they are loyal to their country, but rather to commiserate with those who wish to destroy the Zionist State. Accordingly, I have no comment.
9. #8 mistake
Willy, not Judea ,   and not Samaria   (12.17.07)
You made one mistake in #3. Yariv Oppenheimer would never be so racist as to transfer Arab citizens from their homes. These are Israeli citizens as Avi Dichter said today, just ask Oleg Shaichat.
10. Woe On Them?
Dan Friedman ,   NYC, NY   (12.17.07)
The writer is a man I admire, but if the Jewish patriots in Judea and Samaria fail to organize country-wide disruptive resistance to the expulsion now, they will be repeating the same mistake made by the residents of Gush Katif, and they will saher the same fate. Enough of trying to prove your case to people who are blind, deaf and dumb. Stop writing and start doing!!
11. To # 10, Dan
Jew ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.07)
Dan, you are right in all your statements. There need to be more resistance. There is nothing good except you do it. But how you dare to write this from New York? Please make aliyah and bring as many as possible fellow Jews.
12. #8 you rule. funny stuff!
(12.17.07)
13. #9: don't impersonate me!
Willy, not Judea ,   and not Samaria   (12.17.07)
Find your own pseudonym!!
14. Willy would have Jews believe they have no history in Israel
Avi ,   Jereusalem   (12.17.07)
You talk of 3000 year oldfairy tales and expelling arabs fromt he land, but how about the generations upon generations of documented history, persecution, expulsion and degradation of Jewish life in under tyrannical empires such as the Romans and Greeks. Save us your leftists ideals, please. And your pity for arabs in our homeland.
15. #7 SO NOW GOEBBELS IS THE RIGHT'S PROPHET?
David ,   Los Angeles   (12.17.07)
How nice that you right-wingers, who accuse other Jews of being Nazis, are now using anti-Semitic slurs concocted by actual German Jew-murdering Nazis to attack other Jews. You make me sick.
16. Leftists hate Yesha because it symbolises Jewish identity &.
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (12.17.07)
they want to create an Israel that is without Jewish identity. This is the reason they hate the settlers so much. Actually, the REAL problem is nothing to do with the Arabs!
17. We are surrounded by enemies who want to kill us
Avi ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.07)
What can on expect?
18. The 1st Non-Religious Zionists vs.Today's Non-Religious Jews
Dov   (12.17.07)
(you can't call them Zionists because they're not; they're closer to NKs) living in Eretz Yisrael. The first non-religious Zionist who came to this land had seen and lived with parents or grandparents who were still religious and who valued the land of Eretz Yisrael, hence would not give a centimeter away. On the other hand, today's non-religious Jews living in Eretz Yisrael have not seen nor lived with parents or grandparents who were religious and have no close family members to show them the value of Eretz Yisrael. Hence, today's non-religious Jews despise anything religious, including Eretz Yisrael, and have no problem giving it all away.
19. to #4 Wilheim, the fairy tale is less than 2,000
jason white ,   afula,israel   (12.17.07)
years old and the arabs have been occupying our Jewish holy land.
20. #18 Revisionist History
David ,   Los Angeles   (12.17.07)
You people really are so dumb. You know NOTHING about Jewish history, or even Torah.
21. LAST BOLSHEVIK STATE
ACO SHUMADINAC ,   BLA   (12.17.07)
ISRAEL GOVERNT BY REAL ESTATE AGENTS : OLMERT/BARAK & PERES. ISRAEL FOR SALE. SHAME ON JEWS . TOO BAD THAT WE DESERV IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
22. #4 willy, WOW
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (12.17.07)
Your lack of historical knowlede is shocking.. or that you would ignore it is comclusive proof that you are not to be taken seriously. Fairy tale? find me one LEGIMATE unbalanced archeoligist that can refute jewish sovereign in Israel. Perhaps Josephus was a fraud ? heck that would mean jesus was a fairy tale too? In which case, Islam which is based on Judaism and Christianity is naught but a fairy tale ? Please do inquire as to what rights Muslims claim on the cave of machpela ? Thw Ibrahami mosque.. you know just the small fact that abraham etc.. is buried there... I mean, what could Herod have been thinking to build this HUGE edifice ? oh wait are you going to claim it was perhaps saladin that built in? Your knowlede or otherwise ignorance of islamic works and history puts you beyond any legitimacy.. Muslim's for hundreds of years aknowledged that the temple stood on Mt Moriah! And so on and so forth.. Youd do well to keep from venturing into a arguement you know not about. There is a old adage "dont bring a knife to a gun fight" To ignore our history is one thing, to Ignore 2,000 years of contius residancy of this land, long before there was a Islam or arabia is sheer lunacy. Spare me.
23. Unfortunately many settlers will have to be forcibly removed
Eyal ,   Jerusalem   (12.17.07)
Which is not something I am happy about. I have great respect for the settlers and their sacrifices, even if those sacrifices have unfortunately put us on the road to becoming an apartheid state. When the time comes, the extreme settlers will not cooperate and will have to be forcibly removed as in Gaza. When it happens, I promise to help the evacuees, donate money etc as I did after the Gaza pullout. But this is all premature. We're a long way from evacuating settlements.
24. #15 dave in LA, I think you are missing the point
jack bauer   (12.18.07)
25. Elchonon
David ,   Los Angeles   (12.18.07)
Jewish history is not the "fairy tale" that Willy is referring to, and you know it. You know how foolish it would make you seem to address the "fairy tale" he's talking about directly. That's why you are deliberately avoiding it.
26. Thank you Mr. Haetzni for a great article.
LEE ,   NY, USA   (12.18.07)
27. @Elchonon & @David
Willy ,   Israel   (12.18.07)
Who brings the knove to a gunfight? 1. When I was talking about a fairy tale I was talking your "holy book" that states a promise made by god to claim ownership of this country 2. Archeological findings. Yeah, great. I knwo them too. So what??? There is archeological findings about the Moores in Spain. Should they reclaim it? What about the Indians in the US, Davie? Wanna give them your house? There are red-haired people in Sicilly thanks to 200 years of Norman (say: Viking) reign. Maybe Norway should invade there since it's "rightfully" there heritage? You spare me buddies!
28. #27 I will argue at your level
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (12.18.07)
So how far we going back eh ? 200 years ? sorry this land was barren 200 years ago.. and even then there were jews living here.. On what basis are you arguing for the arabs ? surely not some legal right to the land.. if the turks could take the land from the crusaders who took it from etc.. we are just following in one great cycle eh ? Now, I hate to break it, bust a ood portion of this country is legaly owned by jewish groups or individuals.. including large tracts of judea and samaria.. the etzion bloc for one. Now, I repeat, on what basis to you argue for the arabs.. on what proof of ownership... that they purchased land from the turks ? who gave the turks the right to sell this land ? they were foreign invaders.. If 2,000 years means nothing to you, and you can ignore history.. I care noy for anything prior to 1967...
29. #25 david your right..
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (12.18.07)
Itd be foolish to take him on rerarding what he refers to as fairy tale, namely g-d and the torah.. So I am presenting historical arguements that you can deny but cannot refute..
30. Willy
David ,   Los Angeles   (12.18.07)
If you are going to engage people in a debate on the English version of Y.A., it would be helpful if your understanding of English was, at a minimum, sufficient to understand when someone is arguing in support of your views or arguing against them.
