In the oslo years when we were supposedly all friends the world threw billions at the palestian economy. We financed airports, power stations and all sorts of other glamerous projects. Israel was conceding more and more territory all the time including Hebron ( thanks to Bibbi ) We let them have Orient House later proven to be a base to organise terrorism. The IDF gave them millions of weapons supposedly to be used to fight terror and keep the peace then we found out the hard way those weapons were being used on Israelis. Arafat didnt take all the money they did waste more than their fair share of it as they will continue to do again and the idealistic idea that if the palestians have money they wont turn to terror idea is going to show its ugly face again. There seems to be an international belief in and outside Israel that its better not to learn from our mistakes and make them all over again so we can be seen as doing somethiing rather than sit down say this didnt work now its time for some new ideas. Its not politicly correct to propose anything that doesnt include a palestian state with Jerusalem as its capital and the right of return ( in Israel to be rebranded by the left wing as family reunifictaion ) the idea of asking anything other than that or Israel being a binational state has become allmost a crime. Israel allways has to be the one to play the good guy and make all the concesions instead of looking at other ideas where the arab states that creeated this problem by encouraging the arabs to leave during the war of indipendence do notyhing other than give a little pocket change. Then there is Saudis trying to unilateraly decide the future of the Middle East by dreaming up their own plans where Israel gives up everything and in return the arabs say THERE IS A COUNTRY CALLED ISRAEL AND WE RECOGNISE IT HAS A RIGHT TO EXIST. Even that though the palestians are not willing to do during Annapolis Abbas spesificly state the palestian state would not recognise Israel as a jewish state. As usual the world wants to simply solve a problem with an expensive idea that wont work.

If the money hasn't been taken care of wisely in the past, then either we need to stop giving it or we need to have our own independent commitee in charge of it. I would suggest people from the business world cause they can be bordering on obsessive compulsive when it comes to money (which is a good thing) and competitive. I also would have another independent commitee to monitor the original commitee. If the Palestinian government can't handle that, then they just wouldn't get the money. Right now I get a sense of us handing them money and then just walking away.
