The statistics you quote, assuming they are even legitimate, are very unfair for a quite a few reasons. 1. The majority of the population of Gaza is under the age of 15,which means most of the people who have been killed should have been under the age of 15,but most of those killed have been armed terrorists trying to kill either Israeli civilians or soldiers. 2.The Israelis have the 4th largest army in the world, in just 6 days they defeated 5 Arab armies, if they wanted to they could wipe out the entire Arab population of Gaza in a week or less,if they are so hell bent on genocide against the Palestinian population like some folks claim, why they haven't they done this yet,they controlled Gaza for over 40 years. . 3. Israelis do not deliberately target Palestinian civilians or children like the Palestinians do. No Israeli soldier has gone up to a 2 year old in a babycarriage looked her in the eye and shot her in the face. Palestinians terrorists have done this. No Israeli soldier has stood next to a group of Arab woman holding baby carriages and detonated explosives Palestinian terrorists have done this to a group of Jewish mothers and their children. this is not the first time that the idf has gone after terrorist leaders, but usually the paliwood propaganda machine swung into high gear and rallied international opinion against further attacks. this, in turn, left the successors free to carry out "retaliations", under the pretext of the "middle east cycle of violence". (of course there would be no "cycle" if the dhimmis would just accept their fate at the hands of the jihadists.) talk of "truce" and "ceasefire" (rather than "surrender") just proves that the jihadists are hurting, and need breathing space to reorganize (and build more rockets). hamas has deliberately destroyed the gaza economy (e.g. greenhouses), to make gazans dependent on jobs in the "terror industry", effectively putting them on an undeclared war footing. and making any real cessation of hostilities impossible, as it would put thousands "out of work". and like any other assembly line, qassams take time to build, but also have a very limited shelf life, which means that any "ceasefire" will only last weeks, not months. i hope that this time israel can make its case this time in the international press (it isn't a hard case to make, after almost 4,000 qassams have been fired in direct response to the gaza withdrawal), and keep sending the commanders of the qassam squads "to paradise", in spite of their surprising reluctance. hopefully, the government will also continue to make speeches about "peaceful coexistence" with the people of gaza, and their willingness to negotiate, because that's the way it's done.

The increase in rocket attacks on Israel is directrly proportional to the increase in money contributed to the Palestineans. Somebody should graph this relationship. There is a secondary relationship to false peace efforts made by Rice, Clinton, etc. Rather than go in and cause a lot of blood shed, just turn off their lights and leave them off along with the water. After a month of calm, turn them on again for a few hours. When you deal with rats, negative conditioning works best.
