31. Palestinian double standard
DR ,   Florida, USA   (12.19.07)
They cannot and will not stop the Qassams, but expect Israel to do nothing when attacked. That's called a double standard folks! Palestinians will never learn!
32. Fayad and Hamastan
Brod ,   USA   (12.19.07)
Is this the peace partner that Olmert is dreaming about? Fayad, Abbas and their cohorts are all one and indivisible with Hamastan. They are all responsible for shooting those rockets at Israel from Hamastan. And if they ever get Judea and Samaria, they will be unrelenting in shooting their rockets at Israel's major cities of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and others. The fact is there is NO such thing as a peace partner among the wolves. It is only the figment of imagination among the Leftists and Antisemites. The Charter of the wolves calls for the destruction of Israel. In view of this crisis, it would be better for the nation to decide their destiny by having an election so that Israel will have a government that is strong in protecting the nation from their pernicious enemies. Strong leadership will deter the aggressions of the wolves.
33. you are pathetic ! Israel is defending residents of Israel,
God   (12.19.07)
34. Richard tell us please what does the Fourth Geneva Conventio
Mike ,   Israel   (12.19.07)
say about Muslim terror on Israel? Tell us what the Fourth Geneva Conventions say about any other country capital city? by the sounds of it you have never been to Jerusalem, the fact is three religions are practiced openly with out fear of beheading, or the fear of being killed. Israel will base its securtiy on peace as you wish for when there are "normal people to do peace with" untill then act like animals and you'll shall be dealt like the lowest form of life and thats to good. Richard you read certain papers and some how you think its realty. This will be the last time I even read your talk backs I rather read the funnys at least they make me smile you on the other hand make me feel sorry for you, and you dont deserve that.
35. If Richard is so fond of Gazza its a wonder
vicky ,   Ashkelon Israel   (12.19.07)
he doesn't do the right thing and live there! Its easy to spout your tirade at Israel who face daily Kassams, not just in Sderot, Suicide bombers trying to cross the borders. We never blow up their buses just their bomb factories. We're under no obligation to finance Gazza thats why they get BILLIONS OF DOLLARS AND EUROS. Isn't it the obligation of their fellow brethren in Jordan S.A. Iran to see to their needs? (Take a few sandwiches when you move their Richard, pork preferably.
36. Page One of the Palestinian Pity Playbook
Steve ,   UK   (12.19.07)
Commit crimes, fire Qassams, randomly injure, maim, kill, kidnap until Israel has had enough and reacts, then plead to the world for help against the reaction. "Pity the poor Palestinian". The sad part is, the world will probably buy it and condemn Israel.
37. Fayyad, Protector of terrorists
Sidney ,   USA   (12.19.07)

41. fayyad
elliot ,   point roberts,usa   (12.19.07)
we didn't bribe him enough...pay him more and he will be quiet,at least until he cashes the check
42. #13-#15, so what?
Danny   (12.19.07)
They should stop attacking us. As for quotes from NGO sources, since the bombing of the power plant in 2006, there have been six warnings from the UN **STATING** that within days people will start dying from a) lack of water. To date the number of people who have died in Gaza due to lack of water is zero. As for the 80,000 out of work Palestinians this is a result of the Hamas takeover and the fact that Hamas has replaced Fatah. Again prior to the wave of attacks from Gaza it had an open border with Israel. Most Palestinians had jobs in Israel. They can thank their "resistance". As for the West Bank, the wall, checkpoints that so exercise you stop terrorism. A sign of this is that in March 2002 118 Israelis were killed. In the whole of 2007, 11 were killed. All of this is a result of "resistance". If the Palestinians CHOSE violence as a method of "negotiation" they CANNOT complain when Israel fights back. This is the cost of path of picking violence. This is war. War isn't "we can attack you but you aren't allowed to do anything about it". If you were really, honestly, truly concerned about Palestinians you'd be working to get them to halt their violence. Since the building of the walls round the West Bank and Gaza their ability to inflict pain on Israel is relatively minimal, the people it really hurts are the Palestinians. Bitching about Israel hitting back doesn't actually do a thing for them, but I assume it makes YOU feel good.
43. A defence of Fayyad
Danny   (12.19.07)
As Palestinian leaders go, Fayyad is by far one of the better ones. He is a Western educated economist, spent time at the IMF(don't hold that against him, so did Stanley Fischer), is openly pro-Western and believes - quite rightly - that any future state would have to have strong economic links with Israel. He appears to be uncorrupt and post arafat he tried to have a unified accounting for government revenues, including aid. This of course went out the window when foreigners - with some Israeli encouragement - decided to circumvent the PA/Hamas government, ensuring the rapidly increasing foreign aid to Palestinians would mostly get wasted. As a counterpoint to Dicks claims, in 2007 Palestinians in the territories became the largest per capita reciepient of aid in the World. Aid makes up pretty much ALL of the Palestinian economy.
44. DEAR PRIME MINISTER
Christy ,   Boston, US   (12.19.07)
Prime Minister Salam Fayyad: You hold in your hands the ability to stop Israel's precision strikes. Israel is only after those who harm her citizens. Disarm & stop launching rockets at Israel. Stop all acts of violence against Israel and her people. Problem solved. It's ALL in your hands to solve.
45. #13, #14,#15 - Richard
Ted ,   London   (12.19.07)
Are you really that naive ? if terror stops, all those restrictions you've mentioned will not be there. Israel has the first obligation to protect its citizens. Israel left the Gaza strip 2 years ago, why missiles and mortar shells continue to rain daily on it citizens ? the palis have to look first to themselves to change their behaviour. Have you ever seen the text books taughet at palestinian schools ? then maybe you'll understand what is the real source for all theiri miseries.
46. Fayyad and his double-standards
Peace, not Qassams ,   USA   (12.19.07)
How about intervening and stopping Qassam rocket attacks on non-combatant citizens in Southern Israel? These scum terrorists were on there way to launch rockets at civilians. They injured a tiny infant just a few days ago. They deserved to be targeted and eliminated. Fayyad has no right to tkvetch to the internat'l community about these militant thugs!
47. #46, Gaza is under Hamas control
Danny   (12.19.07)
and it is not obvious that the WB is under Fatah control. How is he meant to stop Qassams in an area he doesn't control or have a military presence. I am not giving him an open pass to bitch about IDF defending Israel but to say HE should be stopping Qassams is stupid. The IDF should be the ones acting as they are starting too.
48. Very disapointing
Serge ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (12.20.07)
Very disapointing attitude of Salam Fayad. I suppose he believes shooting Qassams at Israeli civilians is an inherent right of the Palestinians. If he insists on continuing shooting Qassams there is not much point in having peace talks with him. There realy is no peace partner !
