Approaching minors who are among the poorest and offering them a few shekels that they desperately need in order to entice them into a prayer service doesn't seem very honest. Not only will inviting the parents and children to the shul be more honest and help them together, it will also help those in the neighborhood strengthen their communities. This is important to helping deal with issues facing a community at large. Also, I believe that there should be an optional program available for those students where could attend classes dealing with Torah and Judaism. It should be done in a way that presents the topic to appeal to Jews of different streams. Giving money to students to take these courses doesn't strengthen their ties to Jewish culture or traditions. The support , caring and feeling of belonging to the Jewish people are what will keep the young in. There is no price to the teaching of the young to be Jewish. The young have to want and agree to it.
