1. so this is final? forever?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (01.06.08)
the ministry was removed in a moment, reestablished in a moment. sounds pretty transient and depending on the particular type of government which changes every few years, if anything.
2. is this the payoff for shas to stay in line with olmert?
jack bauer   (01.06.08)
3. #1: Mike it is final and forever - until they close it again
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (01.06.08)
4. Backwards with Kadima.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.06.08)
It should be their new slogan.
5. Why does this article only mention the minority opinion?..
LEE ,   NY, USA   (01.06.08)
The vote was won with a large majority, yet we only read quotes from the minority here. Kind of let's you know where Ynet stands...
6. Another experiment
Avi   (01.06.08)
What struck me is that it was under the prime minister's office. And we're talking about THE very Olmert. My guess is, that along with Kadima, this will be another experiment, and one that is going to end in a few years.
7. Olmert unmistakably wants to secure his coalition with Shas
Joseph P. ,   Jerusalem   (01.06.08)
especially now, before Bush's arrival. He's well aware that the religious and Right are planning on overthrowing the government this week. LET'S HOPE THEY WILL!
8. Disgusting
Observant Jew ,   Israel   (01.06.08)
This ministry was hotbed of graft and corruption. Over the past 4 years it's functions were successfully taken over by local authorities. These kinds of activities are what give a bad name to Judaism.
9. #8 what corruption?
zev ,   usa   (01.06.08)
please explain yourself as to what you mean by you're statement. some evidence would be nice because anyone in israel can bring you plenty of evidene of corruption "by local authority's".
10. But Arab Mks are a Step Foward?
Charles Goldstein ,   Eilat   (01.06.08)
I like how these idiot mks dont think its a big step back when we let anti-semetic arabs in the knesset.
11. Obviously, for Judaism's enemies, it's a step backward
Yaakov K. ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (01.06.08)
Those enemies of Judaism would also have Israel commit suicide. Y'know what? AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!
12. ministry of religion
sas ,   israel   (01.06.08)
eli yishai is the most powerful man in the country. he gets what he wants. the ministry is a total waste of money but the religious are slowly ruling the country.. time for the secular people to leave.
13. #11 Try making some sense
Aharon   (01.06.08)
This ministry is completely unnecessary - it's just one way to funnel more money to the corrupt Shasniks and Yeshiva owners which won't even reach the Jewish public, let alone the larger Israeli public. This has nothing to do with destroying Judaism or Israel - it has to do with clever spending. When we are filling up Swiss bank accounts of Rabbis and Shasniks, we lose money that should be being spent on our education system or our military or our shoddy roads or on developing the Negev or a myriad of other things.
14. Just another way for Sash and Yeshiva to steal from Israel
Mike ,   Israel   (01.06.08)
15. why shouldn't omer sign death certificates? he caused them
adolf kasener ,   vienne   (01.06.08)
omert killed 100s in lebanon disgrace - hes about to kill hundred more with his ayrab terrorists.
