1. suggestion to Ynet
Yardena Anat Even   (01.07.08)
I just clicked out of the looney lefty haaretz site where such articles as this one is a given. HERE I suggest you REMOVE IT IMMEDIATELY SO AS NOT TO GIVE OUR ENEMIES ANY IDEAS TO MAKE THIS HORRID THING COME TRUE SINCERELY LOVER OF ISRAEL YARDENA
2. Israel's reply to Europe's demands
chanan ,   USA   (01.07.08)
Israel's reply should that it will comply with European demands when Basque Country in Spain and France, Moors in Spain, Galicia and Catalonia in Spain, Flemish in France and Belgium, Albanians in Greece, Laps in Norway/Sweden/Finland, Poles in Ukraine and Hungarians in Romania will be given independence from their respective countries.
3. Great Article
Seth ,   Washington, DC   (01.07.08)
4. Hats on fire
Robert Tilden ,   Sheridan, WY   (01.07.08)
The writer seems to think that what goes for Kosovo goes for other countries. Parts of a major city in Europe are not patroled by police and periodicly burst into riots, the city is Paris. Would the governments in Europe insist on giving parts of Paris autonomy? NO If Israel would face such pressures it is becuase Israel is scrutinized more than others. Call a spade a spade and when doubles standards are applied they should be highlited, not accepted.
5. gallille uprising
geroge   (01.07.08)
Olmert and his kind are directly responsible for emboldening israeli arabs as there is no loyalty test for israel andy more. israeli arabs can say anything they want to in public, they see Olmert making unbelievable concessions even before negotiations, so as they look at it, they figure to protest and soon separate into gallileestan. Olmert's weakness and concessions are responsible for this. Baarak didn't help matters while he was PM and we have to admit that Oslo startedt this snowball.
6. Very old European strategy
Frank ,   Canada   (01.07.08)
During the 19th century the French and the Brits tried to use Christians and Jews as tools to destroy the Ottoman empire. The Armenian genocide is a direct result of these policies. Europeans are just moving forward in the agenda set up by their Arab masters: the total dismantlement of Israel. Europeans must not been permitted to interfere in any Israel affair, including the war with Arabs. Europeans must recognize Israel as a sovereign state.
7. Wrong comparison
Arianit ,   Kosovo   (01.07.08)
The comparison couldn't be further from the reality on the ground in Galilee and in Kosovo. The author forgets that only eight years ago Serbia went into a killing and raping spree in Kosovo targeting specifically the civilian population. Moreover, Kosovo until the most recent ultranationalistic binge began in Belgrade was a member of the Yugoslav federation just like all but one of the the other members that have already gone their own way. What started in Slovenia will finish soon in Kosovo.
8. who will the world back when arabs want independance in...
(01.07.08)
Europe. Its already taking shape. There are many places in europe where police just have no authority.
9. He's talking about civil war ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (01.07.08)
Will we become another Lebanon? Will we end up fighting in the streets? Car bombs, sabotage, riots, urban warfare, snipers, & all the other charming features of inter-ethnic conflict? Is that the road we're on? Quite conceivable considering other examples in the region.
10. To #7 Wrong comparison
David   (01.07.08)
As you well know Kosovo was an autonomous province of Serbia (not Yugoslavia). Slovenia was a Yugoslav republic. That is a big difference. If we were to use your argument why the Northern Kosovo with the Serbian majority cannot remain in Serbia?
11. Lieberman told them: Go guys GO
NB ,   TA, Israel   (01.07.08)
Autonomy they don't want. In fact from the moment Lieberman offered to annex the triangle to the PA Israeli Arab leaders were falling over each other to denounce him. This does not mean that we should not consider doing this unilaterally. Maybe it makes sense to fence off some Arab enclaves in Israel to make them de-facto part of the West Bank.
12. Now you understood where the Russian position lies
Damir ,   Russia   (01.07.08)
Keep the borders intact. The central government is responsible for the well-being of all the provinces. Separating Kosovo will start a chain of reactions. Next in line stand the Georgian regions: Abkhazia and S.Osetia. What will keep Russia from implementing IT'S own interests there? Note the count reaches three at that moment. Who's fourth?
13. #7, What about Kosovar-Albanian SS Division Skenderbeg?
Jake   (01.07.08)
that helped Nazis massacre and deport Serbs, Jews, and gypsies? What about Mufti-inspired Balkan Moslem Waffen SS divisions Handzar and Kama?
14. Instead of planting fear, promote true democracy
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (01.07.08)
If anything, the writer admits that Israel discriminate against the israeli-arab minority and wants israel to continue to do so!!! Eventhough the senario of an uprising is UNREALISTIC, the writer should promote equality, coexistance and an Israel where everyone has equal opportunity, instead of promoting fear and hatred Peace out
15. To channa # 2 and other american jews
Seth ,   Oklahoma   (01.07.08)
eventhough many Amrican jews are 5th column, spy for Israel and harm the security of the USA, jews has full rights here just like any other christian, jews don't even have to serve in the military to prove loyalty. It amazes me how u don't call on Israel to stop discriminating against it's own citizens knowing that the majority of Israeli arabs are loyal to israel and do not engage in anything that endanger its security.
16. The Russian position & interest, Damir?
Cameron ,   USA   (01.07.08)
As always, seeking to play the Slavic 'Big Brother' in the Balkans and looking to exploit the area for any percieved Russian advantage. Russian behavior never varies.
17. Kosovo and Israel
Ruben ,   New York City   (01.07.08)
The author of this article knows nothing about the Balkans. He is simply decided to rant against the West. Kosovo will be independent just like Israel became independent: sovereignty returned to the people who have lived there since time immemorial. It is the Serbs of Kosovo and Arabs of Israel that he should be comparing. Both Serbs of Kosovo and Arabs of Israel are minorities in these new countries. Both have states nearby whose majority of people share the same language/ethnicity and religion. Just like Kosovo Israel is very different from the rest of the region. Both Slavs in the Balkans and Arabs in the Middle East would like to see Kosovo and Israel in states of turmoil. Both Israel and Kosovo exist as new independent country due to the key support of the United States and the somehow reluctant European Union. Hopefully in Kosovo we will not have people like the author of this article showing such a deep lack of gratitude to those who have worked so much for the independence of our countries both Kosovo and Israel.
18. #15 Seth - Israel is not America
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (01.08.08)
Israel lives in a different region then we do, surrounded by many hostile forces, etc. If you think Jews are treated the same in the Middle East as minorities I suggest you visit one of their neigbhoring countries wearing Israeli attire, such as a baseball hat or t-shirt. Regarding your "5th column" and "spying" comments - I only have one response: Boo! Watch out, there is a Jew behind every tree!
19. To #19 Wrong comparison
Ardi ,   London   (01.08.08)
Kosovo had a dual status, province of Serbia (to please Serbia's aspirations) and member of the Federation, with equal rights with other republics when it came to representation (to satisfy the need for political representation of all the people of Kosovo, something that Serbia was failing to do). Kosovo's independece is a consequence of the treatment of the ethnic Albanians as second-hand citizens by the state of Serbia - documented by NGOs such as Human Rights Watch, or even by a number of UN resolutions adopted by the Security Council during the 1990s. Unfortunately, this policy of Serbia towards Albanians has not changed. Serbia has failed during the negotiations to offer a solution that would ensure proper political representation and participation of the Kosovo Albanians in the institutions of Serbia. This has forces international community, though still reluctantitly, to accept that the only way to preserve the stability in the region is to stop rewarding Serbia's nationalism. When it comes to using the precedent of Kosovo on other crisis, I think this is diffiult to argue since no other conflict has seen human rights violations of such scale as the ones commited by Serbia in Kosovo. Kosovo will be a lesson for all governments of the world that they should treat all their citizens equaliy. International stability nowdays is threatened more by governments that abuse the rights of their citizens then by countries that attack each other. Cheers

wrong again the serbians are those who were cleansed out of the heartland of their nation..... by albanian moslem squatters and the terrorist group UCK
21. #7 , #13
jack bauer   (01.08.08)
13 got it right the SS diviosions were made up of bosnian moslems and albanian moslems look up the history of stalingrad hitler loved them! why? when the germans were preparing to surrender to the soviets, even though hitler ordered them to fight to the last man..... the moslem guys charged into the soviet machine guns being slaughtered, rather then captured. When hitler found out he was overjoyed by their devotion.
22. #17 you should think of it from another perspective
jack bauer   (01.08.08)
the serbs heartland is around kosovo poltje just near pristina and invasive people (squatting albanian moslems) outpaced the native serbians. Add to that the ottoman occupation leaving an abundance of forcible converted moslems and imported turks in the region after the enslavment and mass killings of the serbs then outpaced by breeding....soon the serbs were the minority. The collapse of neighboring albania allowed masses of weapons to get into the hands of the albanian terrorists UCK soon enough the serbs were forced to try and take back their haertland imagine arabs taking Judea and Samaria....then slowly but surely driving out all the jews through terror. add to that their increased birthrate.... soon they claim for themselves the heartland of Israel. Then to top it all of, when jews try and defend themselves, NATO comes in and bombs all of Israel.... in order to give the arabs complete control of Judea/Samaria power stations, buses, trains, hospitals, tv stations, old folks homes, bridges with humans standing on them, car factories, etc.... all got targeted by NATO kosovo is not a country, it is part of serbia....part that holds a special place in their history. the moslems know this, that is why they want it for themselves. Just like they want Jerusalem for themselves. kosovo is an autonomous region that tito worked very hard to create in order to limit power of his enemies (the serbs) he was a croat
23. Long live Israel
LazarOfSerbia ,   Serbia   (01.08.08)
I, as a Serb, will always support Israel and Jewish people against barbarians even if you don't support us. But remeber - what they are doing to Serbia today, they will do to Israel tomorrow. We fight against the same enemy. Just google for Julia Gorin and read carefully. Next year in Prishtina!
24. Europe HATES us and wants us to DIE
Adam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (01.08.08)
25. An accurate scenario
Avi ,   Haifa   (01.08.08)
A Minority within a country should behave as a minority, otherwise it constitutes an abuse of this country's sovereignity. Are the Mexicans or the Cubans in the U.S. claiming independence ? Instead of encouraging this trend, the European should contribute to the diffusion of Israeli Arabs in the Israeli scene as a minority.
26.  # 18: Thank u for confirming American jews are 5th column
Seth ,   Oklahoma   (01.08.08)
on the other hand, two wrongs don't make it right. If the totalitarian, backward arab countries don't treat their jewish minority fairly, it does not mean Israel, that brangs on being the only democracy in the ME, has to do the same to its arabic minority.
27. #26 Seth - Please help us maintain the secret
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (01.08.08)
We are in the government, IRS, law enforcement, schools- heck we run the FOMC - we are virtually everywhere. If you promise not to tell anyone maybe I'll invite you to one of our meetings.
28. #15 to Seth, Idiot
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (01.08.08)
Obviously English is not your native language. Where is this "Oklahoma" you're supposedly from? In Kazakhstan?
29. #15 - Seth, in "Oklahoma"
Joe ,   Los Angeles, CA   (01.08.08)
eventhough many israeli arabs are 5th column, spy for hamas and fatah and harm the security of israel, arabs has full rights here just like any other jew, arabs don't even have to serve in the military. It amazes me how u don't call on israeli arabs to stop discriminating against jews knowing that the quality of life for them is far better in israel than anywhere else in the middle east, europe and africa and always engage in activities that endanger israel's security or question its legitimate right to exist Seth, isn't it always funny how the truth, as verified by both facts and logic, is the exact opposite of Arab propaganda?!?! It's almost like you see all the backwardness in Arab society, assume Israel does the same, then condemn Israel for the things you assume they do. I hope things are just dandy in "Oklahoma" (aka, Syria)...
30. #28 Kyle, #29 Joe - it's ok
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (01.08.08)
C'mon guys - Seth caught us with our hands in the cookie jar. Maybe we can lure him into our next meeting. Passover is not that far away and I need blood for my matzah.
