31. With Love and Faith. For who? - not Hashem
The Rabbi has sinned and we will see the results.
He stated "a major rule in the Torah ".
It is not in Torah anywhere.
Nation of Israel...You know this is a lie. You know it.
Will you ignore it however and chose not to side with Hashem and Torah? Your called for to be a nation of judges. Will you be a good judge or a couch potato? Rasie your voices and organize a group to address this serious issue of unchecked rabbinical sining for power.
Nowhere in Torah does such a "very far apart" rule exists. I would like anyone to try to show this from the true words of Torah.
There are Ten "Major" rules in Torah. This is not one of them.
One of the death penatly clauses of Torah is for a man to willingly states that G-d said something when he did not. A false prophet (a man who claims to speak for G-d)
Torah also states you shall not add a single law to Torah. But you heard it from the rabbis lips that this is a "law". Regular men promoted through their own schools stating that they will make Torah laws? Men as answerable to Torah as you and I think they can add to Torah.
Judges cannot add to the laws, prophets cannot add to laws, the Kohen gadol cannot add to laws, the San Hedrin cannot add to the laws, yet these common men who are supposed to be select from the wiise men amoung us but are neither, have decided they can add laws to Torah.
Well color them Jesus.
As Torah is an agreement between G-d and Isarel, is not the Rabbi stating in a lie that G-d said men and women must be very far apart?
This is as bad as them telling us to say to G-d, bleseed are you that commanded us to light this alien spirit fire to burn in the house on Shabbat. G-d never gave us via Moses these chet additions, rather a prohibition for doing such.
This is terrible that Israel is still listening to such blatent foolishness and paying the resulting evil from curses.
It must be, it has to be, the curses upon us. It has to be. No one is that unwise as not to see the obvious conclusion.
For Torah states fools will rule in those days and no wisdom or counselor shall be found among them.
Be ashamed Rabbi and expect to be blindsided by Hashem for lying to Am Israel, Restore the Kohens and return to the words of Moses.

|
32. #23 Relax?!
Do you know how many people are effected by such foolishness?
Do you know how much good it is for people to socialize and to rejoice everyday in the life that Hashem gave them.
Men and women need to build healthy relationships and not marry the wrong person.
How important it is that we dont let cults be built on the foundation of Torah?
I will relax when people start developing the type of society where true Torah and Hashem is loved more than the rabbis. Where the laws of Torah are taught and not chet additions.

33. Comments taken out of context
All the people getting hyper here have not understood the context of the Rabbi's statements.
He was not speaking to the general public. He was addressing his comments to members of his Orthodox group which subscribes to the principles of Torah modesty which protects men and women from sexual excesses.
This was not addressed to the general public and not intended for them.

34. Anthropologist Margaret Mead found in her studies long ago
in the South Pacific that it was true in primitive cultures and it is true in "civilized" cultures that females need to be protected from the desire of the males and the males need to be protected from the coquetries (charms, alurements) of the females, especially among the very young. A female five year old, for example, is especially alluring to an adult male and should be protected from having a male teacher. It is beginning to appear from the news that young males need to be protected from female adult teachers, too. So co-teaching, with two teachers per classroom would be a protection for the students, since one teacher could keep potential misconduct of the other teacher in check.
|
|
35. In the Patriarch Abraham's day, Sarah taught the females and
Abraham taught the males about the Lord. In Moses' time, Moses taught male and females as a congregation with all listening to the commandments together.
My niece in Edinburg, Texas, had to pull her beautiful daughter, Ellie Ramos, out of public school because she was beaten up by boys who wanted to assault her on the playground during school with a teacher who refused to protect the child. The teacher on the playground did not want to get involved and told my niece she could not protect children at recess. So my niece took her daughter out of public school and homeschooled her for a couple of years rather than to let her be taught with violent boys in a class. There are serious real problems of coed classrooms, not just coed teachers' lounges.

40. Not in the Torah
The rabbi claims this is in theTorah, but it is not. It is mayebin the Talmud, but that is a man made falsification of the Torah.
Having been to an all boys school, it was not such fun, and is psychologically damaging. On the other hand, it is precisely the haredi places such as Bnei Brak where child abuse is so high. And if the reports of child abusers mention thatthey are haredi, the haredi talkbackers complain that it discriminates against them.

41. context #33
Actually, there is one extremist book called Hovot Halevavot written by really depraved rabbi called Bachy Ibn Pakuda. That particular fool decided that everythign is forbidden - any pleasure in the world. he wasnt limiting it to whatthe Torah forbids, or even to whatthe rabbis of the talmud added to the torah, but absolutley everything - so even a nice pices of kosher chocolate, orange juice, music, anythign that gives pleasure was forbidden by this idiot rabbi and heretic.

Believe it or not fellas some ladies do like being housewives. When they started equal opportunity women just wanted that. Now women are forced to work by debt because most of the people are working class citizens. When will they have the choice to be house wives without living in a 2 bedroom flat with 4 kids and bills up to their ears. There is nothing wrong with teachers setting the example for the students.Something needs to be done divorce rate is so high.Who does that benefit?

44. Separation of the sexes.
I have no standing in this matter, and I absolutely love Israel and the Jewish people. But, when I first read the article I thought about a remote similarity to Islam. Nothing is more repulsive to me than thinking that Jewish traditions would have anything in common with Islam and Muslims. Say it ain't so Joe. Long live Israel!!

45. I'm leaving for Israel on the next flight.....
Sometimes it sounds like Israeli men are made up of 50% libido on steroids and 50% unbridled lust. Since I'm a little long in the tooth, but in reasonably decent shape, I might settle for whatever I could stir up with a little ankle here and a well-turned elbow there. Walking behind me and if it were dark, heaven only knows what might happen. I'll have done my Miss Clairol routine during the flight, just in case somebody is as inconsiderate as to turn on the lights at some inopportune moment later on...Of course, I could get real lucky and by the time someone were to see all my wrinkles, things could be past the point of no return or caring about wrinkles :-) Now, if I can only remember the difference between one tube of stuff and the other and not reach for that super glue by mistake .....

47. Men & Women
There is nothing in the Torah that calls for a man and woman to be " far apart" this concept is a rabinic invention. Just the opposite, the Torah calls on us to multiply in the first God given command. That is very hard to do if a man and a woman are far apart.

48. Sin/Free will - Yahadut/Islam
Why does it "cause sin and embarrassment" when "sometimes some women may dress in a manner that is not modest "??? It does not with Chilonim. Answer: If you claim that men are like this and can´t help it, you decline to take responsibility for you (indecent) actins/thoughts. Just like Islam. But it says: I put before you blessing and curse - WE have the choice, WE have free will.
Zniut does not mean to turn to the taliban style, but it means modesty and decency - Kvod haRav.

50. #45 this is unbleivable
Abpaqcharin stop already.
This is the almost identical writting as other characters you post and it has no place on a jewish website.
I suggest you read a Harloquin book to take some pointers on how to write characters and smut.
No woman from Atlanta would describe herself as long in the tooth.

52. To #50
Well, you're totally wrong on all counts. Living in Atlanta doesn't mean that I was born or grew up here.
You seem to have forgotten that it's god's gift of laughter that sets us apart from the animals. To quote Horace Walpole (you can look him up :-): “Life is a tragedy for those who feel, but a comedy to those who think.” Obviously, you don't think too much. Although English is my third language, that's "Harlequin" rather than "Harloquin." As for that particular type of literature, you seem to be very familiar with it whereas I'm not.
Anything else?

53. To #22, #45 thanks -- to Rabbi, sorry
Thank you for calming me down and explaining in a loving, meaningful manner your customs.
Dear Rabbi, sorry I got so grouchy. Shalom.
We have rampant lust in my country, so I can understand people wanting to do something to curb it, and men are very visual creatures. Women prefer touch... but only if they already like/love the guy. Men are cool with looking even if they hate the lady.
So because men tend to be the problem, it still seems unfair to bridle women to control the horse that is man. Plus there is homosexuality and female lust towards men to contend with.
Thanks also to M Hartley for the good chuckle in #45. Too funny.
And to #46, Women in Atlanta talk horse talk, and long in the tooth means old in horse terms. So yes, she sounds Southern to me.
Rabbi, again, I'm sorry for being mean to you. I know you're just trying to God's will as best you can. As a gentile, unschooled in Jewish teachings, is there anything God specifically gives as advice for how cultures (not individuals) can deal with lust? Or is it purely an individual problem in the Torah, etc.?
Rather than forcing women to do these things, could we not force men to wear blinders like a horse, only make theirs aim at the ground instead of straight ahead? "My, what sexy shoes you're wearing..."
Thanks.

54. Josh is right.
Josh, you are right.
The only problem is, under the Karaite system, the average person has to use their brain to study the Torah and interpret it for themselves.
Under the Haredi system the average person doesn't have to think, just follow what Rabbi X or Rabbi Y says.
Some people don't like to think.

57. 53: There are things that can be done for lust control.
Males can take a low estrogen supplement like one milligram of estradiol when rage or lust start to rise up in them. Or they can put Rograine (minoxidil) on their scalps daily since that causes impotence in some males. Then there is Psalt Petre, also known as potassium nitrate that tastes like table salt and can be used as a salt substitute and in cooking to curb libido. That is used by the military in war time to reduce libido. Avoiding pornographic literature and photographs is helpful, too, since the FBI says a pornography collection is a hallmark of the personality profile of rapists and murderers. Fill the mind with the Bible which is pornographic in parts, but carries a blessing for reading it since it is holy and inspired by God.

60. To #50 again
Aw, I don't mean to offend anyone. Having experienced horrible things as a child, I have a lot for which to be thankful now and I express that by being happy, laughing a lot, especially at myself, and writing a bit of outrageous drivel now and then. There's enough strive in the world, so, let there be peace between you and me and go on the assumption that both of us are god-fearing human beings, regardless of the specifics of which religion or no religion, at all.
