Since it looks improbable that the US will take military action, our only option is our own preemptive strike. Diplomacy, sanctions, negotiations, will do absolutely nothing. Deterrence will not work given the nature of the regime. But trusting our security to Olmert is quite unsettling. We see how he bungled Lebanon. We see daily our ineffective policies in Gaza. His own policies vis-a-vis the negotiations with the Palestinians undermine our security. This gov't. just cannot be trusted.

Since he is such a terrible Prime Minister with such a low approval rating it might be that his only way to survive politically is to take bold action and attack Iran. Afterall the only positive act that he has accomplished v so far was bombing the Syrian nuclear plant. Fortunately if he gives the order then we have a much better defence minister(the only thing that Barak is good at) and a much better army chief(Ashkenazi).

Hope springs eternal. However, it's more likely he will either do nothing, listen to America, or think he can do a limited strike without finishing the job as in Lebanon. You just can't trust the man. I'll admit, he would start a war for his own political gain but it could go the other way as well. National interest is a very small part of his calculation - even this statement could only be his usual tuchas kissing to Bush. This is not a job for someone like Olmert.

President Bush on Sunday said : " Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terror ". According to Pres Bush Iran is the problem of the WORLD. So, the UNSC - the most powerful body of the world - consisting of 15 countries SHOULD take care and tackle Iran !!! WHY should Israel solve the problem of the world ??? The UNSC SHOULD solve the Iran-problem. Israel should NOT get its hands DIRTY in - what will eventually become - the Iran-mess. So, Mr Olmert, you will need all your mental power to steer Israel safely through the negotiations with the Arabs. So, keep your mind fix on THAT. Iran is NOT your problem -- Iran IS the world's problem. So, the UNSC MUST take care of Iran !!! You should NOT get involved in Iran !!!

Including wippping it off the map if they threatten Iran militarily. Call it reciprocity!
