1. Right on, EU
Zardoz ,   USA   (01.22.08)
I totally agree. I too have critisized Israel in the past, but in this situation, Israel must be supported against the militant Hamas regime.
2. Palestine has right to defend self against jewish occupation
ML ,   USA   (01.22.08)
3. Israel doesn't have the "right" to defend itself
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (01.22.08)
against Qassam rockets, or whatever else,as Frattini says-IT HAS THE OBLIGATION TO IT!
4. Military action on Iran
David Powell ,   Everett, Wa. USA   (01.22.08)
As the Bush administration comes to an end and as time goes on. the likely chances of U.S taking actions agaist Iran lessens. We cannot count on a successive administration taking action on Iran and our defence aginst Islamic terrorism. It Iooks like Israel is alone on this one on Iran. I wish them luck.
5. Iran
Richard ,   London UK   (01.22.08)
Opposition to tougher UN measures comes mainly from Russia and China, both of whom have important economic ties to Tehran. The US, backed by Britain and France, lead the drive for tougher sanctions against Iran for its refusal to suspend uranium enrichment in defiance of the international community. The Bush administration's case suffered a bad knock last month when a US intelligence report concluded that Iran had stopped its nuclear weapons programme in 2003. Earlier this month (Jan 08), Iran told the director of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Mohammed Elbaradei, that it would answer all remaining questions over its nuclear activities in the next few weeks. European countries may prefer to see whether Iran lives up to its commitment to the nuclear watchdog before moving ahead with a new resolution, European officials said.
6. Palestine is a myth...
The White Shadow   (01.22.08)
...created by conquerors and squatters. When the children of Yisrael came to the land of Canaan, they found your ancestors practicing the worship of strange "gods", performing acts that rivalled those of the people living in the days before the Flood. Is it any wonder that the Lord chose another people to inhabit the land? Get over it. Move to Jordan or Lebanon or Egypt if you don't like it. Yisrael is here to stay.
7. Great, the scum of the 2 worlds are here
Salameh ,   Gaza, Palestine   (01.22.08)
These clawns represent no one but their masters in the mossad
8. Will the USA do nothing?
Chris ,   UK   (01.22.08)
"Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty." - Judges 5 v 23 God doesn't need anyone to fight his battles, but for those who could help but do nothing he will not leave blameless Because the Jews repented before God he fought for them. Now is the time for repentance.
9. ML, So called Jewish occupation is no rationale
Jared ,   Orlando US   (01.22.08)
First off, a huge step, of Israels own doing , for which the palestinians should have been thrilled, was the withdrawal from Gaza. Billions of dollars and much blood, sweat , and tears later, the pals have done nothing productive. It could have been great, the land withdrawal would have been only the First major step of many to come. If Gazans and Hamas could have demonstrated for example, an intent to significantly improve civilian infrastructure, greater access to the SEA and AIR could have come next. One step at a time. Instead the pals buy rockets and guns, not mortar and brick. Second, ML, you cant "occupy" what is historically your land, for which you have, in large numbers and small maintained a continual presence throughout the ages. The Jews were the first to build what historians and academics define as a civilization there and the only truly remaining ancient culture with a claim. And even if you dont like a historical argument. The Jews won the wars in modern time that were not of their making. In 48, 56, 67, and 73 history records the wars as being brought to israels doorstep by pals and Arabs alike , not the other way around. It was those poor pal and Arab choices (driven by hatred) which have determined where the pals are today. Had they not chosen war, but instead peace in 48, the pals would have had a state of their own then. Had they not chosen war in 67 and 73 with the Arabs, they would have had a state. Your argument is unfounded.
10. Finally the EU recognizes reality
JAred ,   Orlando   (01.22.08)
This EU rep may be one with some sense. Of course the pals will see it as they always do, they bear no culpability for their own actions and they blame everyone else, esp Israel, for all their problems. They will never learn
11. The complete closure of the Gaza Strip
Harold Lane ,   Tel Aviv   (01.22.08)
A complete closure of the Gaza Strip will eventually stop the bombing of Israeli localities with Kassam missils. It will also cause a humanitarian crisis and only a partial and poor solution to the global Israelo-Arab probleme. The fact that even yesterday, during the partial closure of Gaza, Kassam missiles were shot on Israeli localities, proves that the Hamas and Islamic Jihad don?t mind the Arab civilians to suffer. In order to bring a solution to the Israelo-Arab probleme we need a new approach as analyzed at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/new-paradigm-for-israeli-palestinian_19.html
12. Bolton
Ibrahim ,   Jeruslaem   (01.22.08)
Bolton’ place is in the hospital. He was denounced by his own people and kicked out of UN, only Neo Cons Syscos and Zionist corp. still allow him to speak. He is a racist and anti-Semite but hypocrite Jews loves him as long as he serves the Zionist Propaganda Machine.
13. Unless your willing to back your words
Joe ,   Ohio, USA   (01.22.08)
with some sort of concrete decisive action. It's all just so much hot air. And that, is something we're all too familiar with from the EU and UN.
14. to #7:
I still have power ,   Lightville, Heatland   (01.22.08)
How about using some of your apparently bountiful electricity to help others instead of posting on ynet and (according to your IP history) surfing for porn?
15. Franco Frattini has always been a voice of sanity in the EU
Jake   (01.22.08)
He has always tirelessly fought against European inertia, apathy, and ineptitude in the face of aggressive expansionism of militant Islam. Kudos to Frattini.
16. Winds Of (Nuclear) War
Adina Kutnicki ,   US   (01.22.08)
Tragically Bolton posits the most pressing mission of Israel's short life before a leadership which is totally incompetent and thoroughly corrupt. Further, the regrets from the EU minister are too little too late. Forgive me for being cynical, but I suspect he knows that the winds of nuclear war from Iran are on the horizon. He might just want it on the record that the EU issued a mea culpa.
17. # 12 Ibrahim, Jerusalem
Petra ,   usa   (01.22.08)
We see Osama on TV frequently and for free. This Boton opinion shouldn't bother you too much. We've also laughed Irans president to scorn and seen how you cowards love to hide behind your womens skirts and cry like babies when your paid back for terrrorist attacks. The world has united against terrorists and your misguided hatred of all Jews is laughable. The western media is owned by gentiles who report your gang mentality correctly. Take responsibility and stop all terror. The reporting by a free press is what you hate as well.
18. yeah, I agree as well
Igor ,   Munich, Germany   (01.22.08)
I used to critisize Israel´s actions a lot in the past, but this time I fully agree with Israel´s steps. I mean we cannot simply ignore the fact that our cities are the target of Qassam rockets and how Hamas brainwashes the residents of Gaza wit its propaganda and lets them suffer. Let the Gazans decide; I think the dire straits will soon prompt them to overthrow the Hamas led "government". No other way will work here; just like parents who raise a child; no sweets until the child learns to behave himself and respect others.
19. Ibrahim, what on earth are you talking about?
Jake   (01.22.08)
"He is a racist and anti-Semite but hypocrite Jews loves him as long as he serves the Zionist Propaganda Machine. " Sorry, where on earth do you get this statement that "Bolton is an anti-Semite". Or are you referring to the Arab definition by which "anti-Semite" actually means "anti-Arab"? Real anti-Semites always supported Arabs in their wars against the Jews. You are too funny.
20. About time the UN officials acknowledges
JB ,   USA   (01.22.08)
the fact that Israel has the right to defend its self from from attacks.
21. # 6 You right White Shadow is a myth !!!!!!!!!!
Shem ,   Galut   (01.22.08)
Palestine is a historical Jewish land occupied now by arabs , who came from Jordan, Egypt etc.
22. 2000 years ago!
Gazan ,   UAE   (01.22.08)
Hisorians do not agree about things happen 2 years ago! and you claim that 2000 yrs ago jews had a state in Palestine..!! The facts is that 50 years ago Palestine was there.. 2000 years ago ..well who knows maybe there were no ppl on earth! I am not Jewish, so why should I beleive what the Torah says ???
23. #22 and 50 years ago
Use your logic   (01.22.08)
Let's use your logic... 50 years ago .. well who knows? 2 years ago there was no Palestine.
24. Because their Muslim problem is living within their midst!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (01.22.08)
Some European countries are - finally - beginning to wake up to the threat that is actually living among them. But will be the sane center that will do something about it or the extreme Right - like the BNP - that will do something?
25. To #2
Jay ,   USA   (01.22.08)
Israel has a right to defend itself aginst arab squatters, aka palestinians.
26. A Miracle!
Daniel Ben David ,   SF USA   (01.22.08)
Israel was deceived into giving up gaza and was rewarded with hamas and rockets. Give up Samaria and Judea and get more. To hear this out of the EU, who recently was caught shipping explosives in "humanitarian shipments", is a miracle!
27. To #22 re: 2000 years ago
Joshua ,   Pittsburgh, PA USA   (01.23.08)
You ever heard of the historian Flavius Josephus?
28. EU - Yes! US - No!
Christy ,   Boston, US   (01.23.08)
It's about time someone in the EU acknowledged that Israel is only defending herself & that NO war crimes have been committed by Israel. Perhaps the EU will also reconsider the money it gives to the Palis.? I hope Bolton is basing his statements on old information. The US can't just sit back and let Israel deal with Iran alone. I believe Israel is capable of dealing with Iran all alone, but it should NOT have to.
29. It's war crimes all right
Jerry Cohen ,   Seal Beach, USA   (01.23.08)
Israel is committing so many international war crimes in the siege on Gaza I have lost count. There is only one self defense: accepting the Saudi peace initiative. But Israel would rather defend its imperialism, its desire to have all of the West Bank for itself, and this just compounds war crimes to defend war crimes.
30. Right - let Israel do Bush's dirty work
Karen R ,   USA   (01.23.08)
This is our friend? Who asks us to break international law, risk getting hit by convetional missiles from Iran, and suffer all the condemnation and repercussions, so Bush and buddies can claim that "something was done" about Iran? Let Bolton and company take the risks themselves, and not use Israel as a patsy.
