One of the hallmarks of a free country is to be as religious or nonreligious as one wants to be. So in this regard, Turkey does not meet that standard. A single desicion on what clothing is allowed is not going to affect whether there is a radical presence-which likely already has been present in the country for a long time anyways. There are more pressing problems facing that country. 1) The protection of the Jewish population and its properties within the country. 2)Interference by the Turkish government against the Jewish community-especially with regards to properties and taxation. 3)The protection and preservation of Ladino and the ability for Jewish students to conduct education in these languages if so desired. 4) Turkey should also grant the Kurds the right of free speech, assembly, and association that have long been denied to that community. The Turks can't be said to e a free nation when they prohibit and strongly discourage the Kurds from having, holding, maintaining, and passing on their culture to their youth. 5) Turkey should apologize formally for the genocide that took place at the beginning of the 20th century against the Armenians. It's the right thing to do.

Like American women who burned their bras to protest male chauvanism in the 1960's, Turkish women should protest by burning their Islamic headscarves. These are nothing but a symbol of male oppression and should be banned in ALL countries that consider themselves to be modern and civilized.

Well I think the Turks are fools. The head scarf is warn by Christian nuns and Muslims in the Uk we have not have a problem with it ,why should you? Do you want freedom? If yes is your answer then follow the UKs example or the west if that where you want to be!
