1. And which deluge follows him?
ussishkin ,   Tel Aviv Israel   (02.09.08)
Narrow minded we are and so we'll stay, stuck on the political treadmill of our own making. Olmert is our creation - his weaknesses are ours, his corruption is ours, and the man who is likely to follow him if he were to follow Mr Sharon's demands and quit is an even worse example of our own creation. God has nothing to do with this. We do. And until we are ready to assume the real responsibility of putting our Petek into the Kalfi, and persist instead in leaving it thereafter to some mythical "them' to take responsibility for our choices, we are stuck on our treadmill with these people. Either break up the treadmill and make our political class accountable to us or suffer the consequences of a rotten system with rotten people perpetuating it.
2. I and majority of Israeli citizens agree...Olmert GO!
freejay ,   Israel   (02.09.08)
3. Well, unless god himself strikes Olmert
tamar   (02.09.08)
with lightening, I dont see him going ANYWHERE. And that's the problem - people in Israel feel like they've lost all their personal power and are waiting for someone else to do the work for them. Look at Sderot - 7 years of bombardment and no demonstrations, no strikes, no nothing. Peole just sit and vent in front of the computer !!! How can this be?
4. Time For A Zionist Revolution
Adina Kutnicki   (02.09.08)
Each dereliction of Olmert's (sacred) duty has caused even graver damage. Surely past PM's are equally culpable. From Barak's fleeing like a thief in the night away from Lebanon, from Sharon's orders to destroy Gush Katif etc, they ALL have their corrupt hands in the disasters Israel now faces. HOWEVER, Olmert is now in power and has contributed exponentially to these perils. New elections just might not get better results. There are true Zionists in Israel ready to implement revolutionary changes to the way Israel is governed. Cosmetic changes won't do it.
5. AMEN
Dr. Reuven Bar-On   (02.09.08)
Take this idiot out of office... ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!!
6. AMEN
Dr. Reuven Bar-On ,   Israel   (02.09.08)
Get rid of this idiot ONE WAY OR ANOTHER!!! At the same time take out this corrupt and danerous 'government' ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. May they rot in hell!!AMEN!!!
7. But where is our Leo Amery? And where is our Churchill?
Mladen Andrijasevic ,   Be'er Sheva   (02.09.08)
Winston Churchill in the his "The Second World War, Vol 1: The Gathering Storm " on page 594 describes the events of May 7, 1940 which changed the course of world history. "From the benches behind the government Mr. Amery quoted, amid ringing cheers, Cromwell's impervious words to the Long Parliament: 'You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!'" http://web.israelinsider.com/Views/12381.htm
8. Israelis where are you?
Joseph ,   Italy   (02.09.08)
I disagree. If olmert don't like to israelis, remove him. I don't see people in squares and streets protesting against him. You israelis have lost your courage and your dignity. Do not complain about your situation. And don't talk about world public opinion, because all the wolrd condemn you also if you are defending yourselves. wake up ISRAEL and fight for your life, like you have done in 60 years
9. The ONLY small piece of grace if Olmert stays
Squalid Ibn Harman ,   Qtir   (02.09.08)
Everyone in Israel and amongst our enemies and far beyond knows the total incompetence and impotence of Olmert. Only Olmert is totally obvious and out of touch with reality and the people of Israel. Should Olmert somehow survive until the next elections, the only saving grace would be to see Olmert's face after the LANDSLIDE DEFEAT as the people of Israel loudly voice their opinion of Olmert in the elections. At this point I can only imagine that they will physically remove Olmert, kicking and screaming, from the PM's office directly to the Bet Meshuga'im. The fallout will probably include everyone close to Olmert in govt and permanently ruin their careers. Olmert's name will go down in history symbolizing the worst kind of failure, not dissimilar to Chamberain. The symbolism of Olmert and Chamberlain are but one step away from the symbolism of Hitler's name as they played into the hands evil, placating, appeasing, and surrendering to the worst of all evil. Unfortunately the pleasure of seeing Olmert totally defeated and humiliated by the Israeli voters is too high a price when weighed against their safety and well being. "In the name of G-d go" and do not stop going until you fall off the face of the earth into the deepest bottomless pit and we are permanently rid of you.
10. But they are all Chamberlains -Rabin, Barak, et al
Dudu ,   Kfar Sava   (02.09.08)
11. #7 Mladen Andrijasevic - Beersheva
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (02.09.08)
Where indeed is our Churchill? Our political system seems only to produce little men, not leaders with any vision. Olmert is a disaster & must go but unlike Chamberlain, he will surely not be replaced by a Churchill.
12. YES AND YES THE THREATS AROUND US ARE VERY SERIOUS THEN GO !
(02.09.08)
13. And if you do not go.................
yochanan ,   Efrat Israel   (02.09.08)
We should ad to this, "and if you do not go, we the People of Israel will force you to go ,we will take the streets until we are finally free of you
14. Olmert has ZERO Personal Integrity; U need to KICK him out!
Sarah ,   Tel Aviv   (02.09.08)
15. Popular Revolt! Black Panthers Movement
xxx   (02.09.08)
Why doesn't the people go on the streets and demand the departure of Olmert and his inapt government like the Black Panthers movement did after the Yom Kippour war?
16. Maybe a coup or a revolution
Mahlon Drumgoole ,   Newark NJ   (02.09.08)
Since Kadima and its allies such as Barak's Labor party are too self-centered and power hungry, there is no chance that Olmert will resign and there is even less of a chance that the Knesset will vote no confidence. In the meantime, the rockets will continue to hit Sderot and Hamas and Hezbollah will get stronger. Maybe the only thing left for Israelis is to support a coup or revolution to force this bastard administration out of power.
17. even if we are all wrong and you did everything right,...
uli ,   jerusalem   (02.09.08)
... a good prime minister would have quit long time ago, because he knows that his people can not start a new page with him in command.
18. stand-in plmert and < kadima >
moshe_Israel ,   k.motzkin   (02.09.08)
olmert is till stand-in PM , he has not quit... even feels vindicated by Winograd. The Knesset of Israel should be held guilty for NOT removing such an inadequate person. Hopefully , the Israeli public will remember < kadima > which should be made to suffer for its support of olmert. moshe_ Israel
19. Olmert
jason ,   zichron yacov   (02.09.08)
Actually, the children of the Holocaust had a false dream- peace with the Palestinians and Arabs based on land for peace and not hisorical right vs wrong, victory, or peace for peace. Many Israelis opted for this and whenthis equation did not work actually blamed all their leaders instead of the Aram, Islamic enemy. Olmert is not different from Barak, Rabin, Peres or Begin in this. Only Shamir , Sharon and Golda Meir had it right. They were also ridiculed. So instead of getting rid of the leaders accept that the other side is gaining, Israel is not invincible, the USA has global interests that don't coincide always with Israel and consider that land for peace was an anti Israel idea adopted by the UN members as a way to get land back from Israel. In the end only an apology by the Arabs for trying to throw Israel into the sea will bring peace or I am afraid that when Israel weakens some more, there will be an attack and the 3rd world war will start- because in the end- Israel will defend herself- but it will now cost allot more.
20. olmert will do the job
avrom ,   bet shemesh   (02.09.08)
Eshkol was also a weak prime minister but events forced him to conquer sinai and the west bank .Since G-d is omnipotent and pulls the strings olmert will be forced to sort out the arab problem .G-d puts crazy ideas into the Arab heads which will force Olmert to find a solution to the problems Israel faces
21. Judgement
Ivan Sz. ,   H-Budapest   (02.09.08)
Free Yigal Amir now in peace!
22. olmert pays his jiziya and accepts islamic superiority?
yahn goodey   (02.09.08)
seems to me all his actions point towards his desire to surrender israel and change our status from dar al-harb to dar al-islam. i dont know how much plainer it could get that we must be doing something wrong? than when we end up with a leader that hates us(leviticus 26:17) they that hate you shall rule over you.
23. Why does'nt he go??
Gazan ,   Gaza,Palestine   (02.09.08)
Despite the demands and views of the majority of the Israeli population, Ehud Olmert, a man who was known for his corruption as the mayor of West Jerusalem, is still in the office of prime minister. Just as the democratic will of the American public has been ignored in regards to Iraq, the democratic will of Israelis has been ignored about the removal of Ehud Olmert. Like in many other places, the interests of the population of Israel are meaningless to the upper echelons of power. Israel’s leaders do not serve the interests of Israelis, they serve the “Washington Consensus.” http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7837
24. and when did G-d appoint this chap spokesman?
(02.09.08)
25. He doesnt care about God! I say in the name of logic GO
jack bauer   (02.10.08)
Every action this idiot has taken since becoming PM has turned out to be horrible for Israel. The people on the street dont want him. The people around the world dont want him. The corrupt scum should be on trial, not in the PMs chair
26. Why he should go?
Salomon Mizrahi ,   Sao Carlos SP Brazil   (02.10.08)
Of course Olmert and his gang are the horsepersons of Apocalypse...But he was voted by the israeli populace....Now if they want him out they should take the streets and demonstrate...That's the only way...Israel is becoming the worst place for jews...
27. I agree Olmert's awful. When has
Che Vive ,   Ghetto Beach, U.S.A.   (02.10.08)
there been Israeli leadership that wasn't? This article's assessment linking the Gaza withdrawal to Gilad Shalit's abduction is false. What directly led to the abduction of Shalit was the shelling of a Gaza beach which killed a family of 8 Palestinians, bringing promises of retaliation. Shalit's abduction brought Israel's retaliation against the Palestinians and an illegal flyover of Bashar Assad's summer home, which may have led to Hezbollah's border attack, which led to the war in Lebanon. The sequence of events is fairly plain. You're just upset with the outcome. Now you want a "better" leader, but seem to define "better" as meaning more violent, less willing to pursue peace with the Palestinians. I suppose 60 years of violence hasn't taught you that violence isn't the answer... probably because you're supported so unconditionally by the U.S., and have never truly suffered in war the way you made the Lebanese suffer in this last one, or the way Iraq is suffering now. How a nation with so many Holocaust survivors can revel so in violence and intolerance is beyond my understanding. Do something sensible, Israel. Force the next candidates for Prime Minister to lay out specific plans for how they'll attain peace before electing anyone to office. If they can't produce such a plan which doesn't kill countless people in its undertaking, leave the office empty. You're better off without such leaders.
28. all the diaspora look at you Erezt.
patrick-yosef ,   fr   (02.10.08)
and what do we see... more corruptions and more corrupted politicians of the like of Olmert and so on?!?!??... frankly, you are quick to throw the stone at the diaspora for not coming back to erezt but, why on earth do you want us to come back in erezt for when #You allow more corruptions in your midst than the shmuck do?! get rid of these people like Olmert you choose to power first, then and only then ask the diaspora to come back to the land of our fathers.... or may be you expect us to do the job you for you?!?!?!
29. this traitor will never step down volunteraly
chaim ,   brooklyn n.y   (02.10.08)
this criminally insane traitorous gangster will never leave office volunteraly, the people of israel must rise up as one,and by the tens of thousands march up to the knesset and phisically drag out this piece of human garbage, and put him on trial for high treason, and if found guilty, hang him by his miserable neck
30. Better He Went In The Name of The Israeli People.
Dan Friedman ,   NYC USA   (02.10.08)
Unfortunately, the Israeli people are the only power available to oust the oligarchs. But the people are lazy, inert and complacent and have learned to love the taste of crow.
