1. Solution too obvious to Isralis with clouds before their eye
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (02.11.08)
Nahum Barnea is debating with himself as to whether aspirin, paracaetamol or possibly a teaspoon full of cough mixture might be the best prescription to cure Israel's sickness; however as is quite well known even in Israel at Ichilov, Tel Hashomer etc you don't cure cancer with such simple medication. What you need is major surgery followed by chemotherapy, the first being in this near terminal situation withdrawal from the West Bank and the second being the payment reparations and recognition by Israel of its own responsibility for the growth of the disease. And good doctors do not generally wait 6 months till the weather turns warmer before operating; they rush the patient into the operating room immediately.
2. why are you so afraid of bibi ?
albert cohen   (02.11.08)
your prophet peres tell us that they will be no quassams or katiouchot from gaza ...one day mr barnea all these prophets and all the journalists who helped them will be judged !
3. huh?
Israel Israeli ,   Tel Aviv   (02.11.08)
The Israeli winter is milder than a European summer. According to Barnea, the Second World War never happened because the weather was too bad to fight. Or perhaps, this article is spin supporting Olmert abandoning the Jews of Sderot.
4. Barnea needs to be Honest!
eddie ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
Why is anyone surprised that GAza reverted to a terror state? That Oslo did not bring peace; that land for peace was not a good equation, rather it brought terror; that the palestinian facions do not want peace with israel, but use every opportunity and surrogate to launch terror attacks? After all, did not the opposition to the Oslo talks, the right wing, the settlers, the religious zionists not all warn exactly what would come about? Even Sharon warned f this when he was in opposition, but he changed his colours when he was given power. Perhaps Bibi will also change his colours, we dont know. But it is also a warnig for the future course of events. If Israel vacates east Jerusalem and the west bank, the new palestinian state will quickly be overrun by hamas, jihad and al aqsa brigades. It will ebifiltrated by Iran , hizbolla, al qaeda etc. The same pattern will emrge, missiles and bombs will be hurled over the barrier. The barrier will be breached by bulldozers, protesters, and bombers. Israel will again be stunned and indecisive on what to do. Nothign has changed. The same reality exists today as it did 15 - 20 years ago. The difference is that tel aviv and Jerusalem will be in range of the next generation of kassams.
5. tova #1
eddie ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
the writer of post#1 is obviously an ostrich, who thinks that a Jewish state will ever be recognized by the palestinians, and that land will give peace. It obviously hasnt worked , the total failure of oslo proves this.

I have wondered for quite a while whether you were Jewish and/or Israeli. Today I read your talkback in Haaretz where you wrote about listening to Haim Yavin back in 1973. Now that I know that you are a former Israeli ,and probally Jewish too, I find it shocking your disdain for the Jewish homeland. You spend your days sending countless emails expressing your hatred. What a poor soul you must be. Since Ynet believes in the freedom to express Tova's anti-Israel venom I hope that ynet will also allow my email to be displayed.
7. no wars in winter in summer its to hot

Ron ,   Tel Aviv   (02.11.08)
This guy Barnea is a spinmister for Olmert. Olmert even given him a prize. The guys like Barnea hate us, Jews, so much that he can cook up any story or print anything Olmert orders him to do. His enemy is Bibi not Arabs, and his and Olmert's god is money. I am glad they publish his stuff so we know exactly what Olmert's people want.
9. Mr Barnea, you forgot one major point!
Freejay ,   Israel   (02.11.08)
Israel just launched its latest satellite that has ability to see through all weather conditions, no matter how cloudy it is. That really throws your ridiculous argument out the window....doenst it? Another leftist article trying to boost Olmerts weak decisions!
10. Sure, invade: Do we want to unite Gazans for Hamas
David Turner ,   Richmond   (02.11.08)
The Bush Doctrine of Democratization overwhelmed Abbas and Olmert concerns that elections should not take place, and Hamas was victor. Immediately after their win Hamas offered Israel a truce: following the historical precedent of Fateh, while they would not formally recognize the Jewish state the Islamists would abide a 50-year Hudna. Not exactly an olive branch, Hamas leaders were said to believe that given 50 years of quiet borders internal Israeli conflict, that the Jewish state would disappear on its own, that the One-state Solution would become reality without having to fire a single bullet. Olmert et al chose to ignore the possibility of a long-term truce in what, I believe, was a misguided effort to eradicate the Islamists by a combination of diplomatic, economic and, in face of failure and frustration, military means. The result? Countless lives lost, constant Qasams landing on Sderot. Is it not yet obvious that, unless Israel is willing to re-occupy Gaza, that every targeted killing, every retaliatory response to the Qassams only convinces the Gazans that Israel, not Hamas, is the aggressor; that war on Gaza only increases sympathy and identification with Hamas (the Underdog Effect, locally and internationally) resulting in local and foreign support, increased volunteers for martyrdom? Hamas is real and not likely to disappear to satisfy Israel. The alternative to the endless and fruitless war of attrition is to test Hamas intentions. If the Hudna is a ploy, will this provide Hamas the tactical opportunity, the breathing space to re-supply? Yes. But according to Dichter and Military Intelligence Hamas already has little difficulty do so without a truce. And should the proffered Hudna be but a ploy Israel still has the option, with greater credibility and justice, of reoccupation.
11. this is about us

he died in winter he will return evry winter when the wind blow a tent or the door of the house when the piece of bread is pulled from my mouth but he will not be as a sun in the heart of the sky to light and burn its people but like a cloud that a cloud like a mountain on the eart do not affected by any wind salam
