Richard ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
On Wednesday the 23rd Jan, Ahmad Abu Hantash,33 from the northern West Bank city of Nablus died of wounds sustained during the Israeli invasion of the city on the previous Friday. Abu Hantash was on his way to Friday prayer when the Israeli army was invading the area and randomly opening heavy fire, leaving Hantash critically wounded. Hantash was then moved to hospital for treatment but died early Wednesday morning.
2. Look on the bright side
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (02.11.08)
Olmert feels your pain!
3. When
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Samaria   (02.11.08)
When the Jews fail to give Torah legs to their State, the State will do nothing to save their flesh and blood legs.
4. The sacred duty of gov't officials...
Roscio ,   Rome, Italy   (02.11.08)
protecting the nation's citizens and doing Bikkur Cholim. The Mayor did the right thing, but we know darn well that these boys will not be visited by Peretz (who has a home in Sderot), Livni or Pharaoh Olmert. He did not even visit the little girl run over by his fancy motorcade. Arrest Olmert when he returns from wining and dining on treyf in Germany - the charge is criminal negligence of an entire city, plus encouraging terrorism. Israel, how many more of your children will be maimed or killed (chas v-shalom) before you get rid of this garbage regime?
5. Moyal and the "Osher Square"
Nora ,   Tel Aviv   (02.11.08)
The mayor of Sderot, Mr. Moyal ,should rename the square where Osher was wounded "the Osher Square". The heroic residents of Sderot would surely welcome such an act.
6. Response to 1
Kenny ,   Michigan   (02.11.08)
On Monday the 11th Feb, "Richard" (more likely Raheem or something like that) from London used an Israeli website story about a vicious terror attack that permanently disabled an Israeli child not to express disgust with the attack or condolences to the child and family, but to spread anti-Israel propaganda. But I'm sure you feel bad for the child, right? Yeah, sure.
7. we can easily attack and eliminate more Hamas terrorists, so
(02.11.08)
they will not dare to move in the streets
8. Richard read on
Sandra ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
Golda Meir said " We will have peace with the Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us (Jews)." Still true unfortunately. Until you have visited and seen with your own eyes, the reality of life in Israel...NOT the distortions from the BBC and the Guardian, you shouldn't try to make comparisons!
9. A message from a palestinian
Feras ,   Ejerusalem palestine   (02.11.08)
It is so sad to have a boy who is 8 losing a leg. Unfortunately we have also many handicap palestinians due to israel's action. Hatred and futile actions need to stop somewhere. People with some logic and brain need to stand up and scream for peace away from hatred and actions that lead to children whatever side they are in to become handicaped. Let us fight for peace and moderation away of occupation , settlements and terror.
10. #1 Richard
Natan   (02.11.08)
How amazing it is that every Palestinian is killed on the way to or from a prayer. What a bunch of crap!!! Richard, you are full of it...Stop shooting at us and we will stop shooting at you.
11. #6 Balance
Richard ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
The Gaza Strip was placed under a total siege by the Israeli army since June 2007 shortly after the Hamas movement took total control over the strip from Fatah. In September of the same year the Israeli government dclared the Gaza strip as a "Hostile Entity" and stepped up its attacks. In January 2008 the Israeli army decided to further reduce the amount of fuel, electricity, food, and water supplied coming into Gaza. The Israeli government justifies the siege by saying it comes as a response to the Palestinian resistance firing home-made rockets at the nearby Israeli town of Sderot. Four Israelis have been injured in the past two weeks as a result of Palestinian attacks, meanwhile, around 56 Palestinians have been killed due to Israeli attacks. Palestinians, on the other hand, say their attacks come in response to the Israeli attacks against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
12. #8 Press Distortions
Richard ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
9 Israeli children’s deaths were reported in the headlines or first paragraphs of AP articles on the Israel/Palestine conflict in 2004, when 8 had actually occurred. During the same period only 27 out of 179 Palestinian children’s deaths were reported. (Children are defined by international law as those who are 17 and younger.) Additionally, Palestinian children made up a disproportionately large number of Palestinian deaths in general. Children’s deaths accounted for 21.8% of the Palestinians killed, while children’s deaths accounted for only 7.4% of Israelis killed during this period. 22 times more Palestinian children were killed than Israeli children. AP reported on 113% of Israeli children’s deaths in headlines or first paragraphs, while reporting on only 15% of Palestinian children’s deaths. That is, Israeli children’s deaths were reported at a rate 7.5 times greater than Palestinian children’s deaths.
13. This Is The Difference Between the Cultures
emanon ,   USA   (02.11.08)
Judaism is a culture of life. We grieve for the boy because he lost a leg. The Islamic faith is based on a culture of death. If this was one of theirs, they'd grieve because he failed to achieve martyrdom. If one of theirs dies, he is celebrated as a hero. Any questions?
14. #1 stop the lies
Freejay ,   Israel   (02.11.08)
There was no proof the IDF shot him, so stop the propaganda lies! It was more likely an honor attack , which is a daily occurrence in the West Bank. How many times in the last year have honor killings been blamed on the IDF? How many times have the Palastinians been caught out with their evil lies?
15. Let's do something constructive...
David ,   Hartford USA   (02.11.08)
Let a bank in Sderot open up a fund for the brothers. Let them use the funds for schooling, housing, medical expenses, for as long as they need it. It's the least we, in the diaspora, can do for these people on the front line. Sderot banks- decide who will create the fund and announce it here asap.
16. Comment #1, Richard
Chatich   (02.11.08)
Yes, it is indeed terrible that children on both sides are injured or killed due to the barbaric actions of the soul-less islamic terrorists. That goes equally for both the deliberately targetted innocent civilians of Israel, as well as the 'palestinian' children unwittingly used as human shields and brainwashed to hatred by their own parents. As most Israelis know, there are no bounds to the raw savagery of islamic terror, no line of human compassion or decency they won't cross. Thanks for pointing that out to us, you antisemite p.o.s.
17. #more 'honour killings'
Richard ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
The death toll of Palestinians killed by Israelis has soared 100 percent since the U.S. sponsored November peace talks in Annapolis, according to Palestinian political leader Mustafa Barghouti. data shows that the ratio of Palestinians to Israelis killed last year was the most unbalanced ever, at 40:1, up from 30:1 in 2006 and 4:1 from 2000-2005.
18. Repetitive tripe?
Robby ,   San Jose, USA   (02.11.08)
I wonder when Richard of London will find a more creative way of spewing his/her ignorance and hatred? Hey - who ever you are, how about something original? How many times can you repeat yourself? Does your husband/wife ever tire of such unimaginative crap?
19. Richard...Are you kidding me?
Natan ,   USA   (02.11.08)
"Additionally, Palestinian children made up a disproportionately large number of Palestinian deaths in general. Children’s deaths accounted for 21.8% of the Palestinians killed, while children’s deaths accounted for only 7.4% of Israelis killed during this period Do you think that we are that foolish not to be able to see the diferrence? Richard, i live in the US, and what i see constantly is kids running on the streets of Gaza while IDF gunships are in the air. Why don't the parents keep them home???They go out and distrbute candies to celebrate Israeli casualties, they are out on the streets of the Hebron and Nablus throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers. No wonder there are more Palestinian children dead, because you and your scum bag friends keep on pushing them into the line of fire. It sure makes a good front page picture for your own propagnda machine.
20. to Richard
very proud Israeli   (02.11.08)
You compare death instead of asking yourself who causes all the violence. If you did you would have understood that the hamas does not want anything but blood, and they celebrated the child's injury with candies and songs. It is very easy to live in a country with peaceful neighbours and give grades to others. We fight against terror everyday and everywhere even if it means risking our soldiers or the enemy. And if you even think about saying anything about occupation then you (Britain) should stop occupying northern Ireland, Folkland and many others around the globe. We dont occupy anything since there was never any Palestinian country and they do not recognize our country anyway. So dont interfere other's busynesses.
21. #14 more lies
Richard ,   London UK   (02.11.08)
'The world is watching and Israel needs to end this pitiless assault on civilian refugee camps' UN official Peter Hansen
22. to "balanced" Richard in London
Helena ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (02.11.08)
as long as Arabs are striving to destroy Israel Israelis have to strive to achieve the balance 0:as many as possible in Israel's favour... Seems logical and reasonable...
23. Sure Richard.
Natan   (02.11.08)
More Palestinians were killed. See, IDF has decided that enough is enough. Actually the Palis are lucky that many more were not killed. The area will be alot "cleaner" when more of the Hams scum bags are eliminated??? Hey Richard, planning to visit Gaza soon???
24. @17 of which more Pal. militants and less Pal. civilians
(02.11.08)
but that's something you like to forget to mention. Unlike targeting a CIVILIAN area without any mercy like Islamic Jihad and co are doing.
25. an eye for an eye
(02.11.08)
sure!, they can make an apology for the collateral damage. Next time, they will target the military heads, precisely.
26. to #9
Shira   (02.11.08)
Hey, I thought you guys are too weak from starvation to sit infront of a computer and write your propaganda. by the way, who supplies the electricity for your computer? Is it the "ruthless killers" that kill your "innocent" shahids? Enough with the hypocricy!!! No one believes you anymore but a bunch of self-hating leftists in Tel-Aviv !!!
27. RICHARD. I AM WITH YOU
USA ,   LA, CA   (02.11.08)
israel has been attacking innocent civilians for years. with a military far superior (from USA aid) then the gurerilla tactics of the Palestinians. yes, they always have an 'excuse' till its caught on VIDEO....there is thousands of injured Palestinians. and dead civilians. UN is watching and so is the world. sure its sad he lost his leg, but dont think you havent done this to Palestinian children more SO. ENd the illegal occupation for starters.
28. Richard, who is lying?
Kenny ,   Michigan   (02.11.08)
Richard, thanks for citing the proven liar Peter Hansen for support for your views. He blatantly lied about the situation in Jenin and is a well-known pro-Palestinian. Goebbels would be proud. Now we know where your bias is.
29. THANKS, RICHARD
Ali ,   Ramalla, Palestine   (02.11.08)
The Israeli readers, at least most of them, just see the one-sided facts. They just trust their media propaganda. Thanks for such an international voice Richard. We need many of you.
30. Amputate Olmert And The Rest Of Israel's Traitors!
Mel Corwin ,   Miami USA   (02.11.08)
May the tear's of these young boys' mother wipe away the memory of Olmert and the other Israeli criminals who brought them about.
