The arts have always been supported or, they might die on the vine.
Classic music , opera, are 'sponsored' by the generosity of wealthy patrons and organizations
who find a charitable contribution is preferable to letting the music die.
In New Orleans, they also 'sponsor' the rebuilding of New Orleans by the musicians themselves.

The gov. calls it 'charitable contributions', perhaps you should too.
Perhaps what bothers you is that the 'contribution' comes from the german nation who once used Jewish musicians to play for the
showers and ovens?
