31. #24: you need a better translation
David ,   Jerusalem   (02.22.08)
"do not do to your brother what is hateful to thee," does not amount to "turn the other cheek." There is a closer statement in the prophets, but the biblical definition of "brother" doesn't equate to the modern christian one.
32. Mohamed
Bar Ami ,   United Jerusalem   (02.22.08)
Unfortunately, Mohamed, your brethren in Hamas, Islamic Jihad, etc. are absolutists on the issue of destroying Israel. What R. Eliyahu said is in response to an intolerable situation where Beit Hanoun and other residential areas are being used as launch pads for rocket fire aimed at Jewish civilians. As for the Holocaust, one lesson learned is that one can't wish evil away. Genocidal characters like the Nazis and Hamas respond to inaction or appeasement with a greater zeal to murder. Like Neville Chamberlain with the Czechs, Sharon sold out the Jews of Gaza with a promise of peace in our time. And like Hitler, Hamas and co. responded with more violence.
33. # 26 Sawsan FIRST CRIME ON EARTH?
Petra ,   usa   (02.22.08)
I believe you are in error. The first 'crime' was adam and eve eating the forbidden fruit which G-d had personally warned them not to eat. Cain murdering Abel was the econd crime, the first murder.
34. THE RABBI IS RIGHT
Petra ,   usa   (02.22.08)
BETTER THEM THAN US. PERHAPS IF HIS WISHES WERE GRANTED, THERE'D BE AN END OF THE ROCKETS. ALL'S FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR AS THE SAYING GOES. DON'T LIKE IT? tough cookies.
35. Move Sderot to the West Bank and then annex Sderot
Adam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (02.22.08)
36. One warning, then level
Simon ,   Madison, Wisconsin,   (02.25.08)
One should not expect the good Rabbi to be thoroughly acquainted with the Apostolic writings. The Master's command to love one's enemies was most likely an application of the Torah's command to return an enemy's ox or donkey to him (Exodus 23:4). The application on both accounts deals with personal relationships and not nation to nation relationships (a mistake often made by well intentioned Christians). Israel has most definitely gone “the extra mile” with the “Palestinians” and most certainly should defend herself. After all as Maimonides noted “'You shall live by them' (mitzvot) – not die by them” Shalom
37. Vengance?
Invicta ,   Europa   (02.25.08)
'"If someone tries to kill you – rise up and kill him first". says the Rabbi. Isn't that simply what the Palestinians are doing?
