1. Sharon and Katsav both think they're above the law
Two members of the leading "elite" who think they deserve special treatment and that what they do is somehow OK, and acceptable.
Well it isn't. In both cases, justice needs to be seen to be done - Sharon needs to go to gaol, and Katsav needs to be stripped of all pension and other rights, which we as taxpayers provide.

2. Seven months for fraud? The Katsav case
and many others i could mention. Israel's moral barometer is at an all time low.

3. "Omri... attracted an outpouring of national sympathy"?
come on! who could stand him ?

4. Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to jail we go...
He should have thought about his love and devotion for his father when while he was busy committing fraudulent and corrupt acts. At least the judicial system gets it right, some of the time.

6. Will Olmert's sons be brought back to Israel
and imprisoned for all the corruptions and fraud of their father? Certainly all his sons would have to deal with that since jail term for that many corruptions would be too much for one sone alone.

7. MINIMUM SECURITY PRISON
READ COUNTRY CLUB LIKE CONDITIONS
WERE HE CAN REST UP AND MEET UP WITH OTHER ELITE CROOKS. A GOOD OPPURTUNITY TO COME UP WITH BETTER SCHEMES TO EMBAZZLE AND CHEAT OTHERS OUT OF MONEY. SO PLEASE SAVE US THE EFFORT TO MAKE BELIEVE THAT JUSTICE WAS SERVED.

8. Justice and Mercy
He definitely has gone through alot of challenges. A good son who takes care of his bedridden father who is a national hero, he deserves mercy and forgiveness. Justice requires that he pays for his lapses. Mercy requires that hate and spewing vitriol at him by his political opponents should be buried. It is time for healing where jusctice and mercy become compatible.

|
9. Justicce and Mercy for Gush Katif Refugees?
#8 requests forgiveness for a corrupt politician and pleads that "mercy requires that hate from polticial opponents should be buried".
Obviously, #8 has no clue about the lack of justice and mercy thrown at the Jewish refugees from Gush Katif who were evicted from their homes by Omri and Arik. The lack of mercy and justice continues to this day, with lack of decent conditions and financial reparations.
Omri and his father deserve much worse for the suffering they caused....as well as the awful situation in Sederot today.
Throw away the key.

I would agree with you that those 10,000 Israelis uprooted by Sharon and Olmert had suffered and should be compensated. Those that did the uprooting should be punished. Sharon is bedridden. However, Olmert is still running the show and is planning to uproot thousands more Israelis from their liberated biblical and historic homeland. Your vehemence on the uprooting should be directed at Olmert and company and not at Omri. It is doubtful whether Omri was responsible for the first uprooting as he was not a member of the Cabinet. It was a decision that Sharon and Olmert made.

11. Arutz news reported that Omr was spared the
malicious ordeal of the initial two day check in at the jail in Tel Aviv before being sent to the minimum security prison. At least he was given that kindness.
I hope he sees this time as a time of reflection and reading the Torah, as well as a time of regaining his own health and fitness he has suffered some loss from the ordeal of the last two years, not even able to speak out at the terrible attacks on him and his family after many decades of service to Israel.
He will have the patience to influence others by his example in the prison, which I know he will do.
There is exercise equipment at most prisons and he will finally have time to use it and to be more careful about what he eats, so he loses weight and becomes more fit. When a man or a woman's waistline goes above 34 inches, it is called Syndrome X, a pre-diabetic medical state. He needs to do situps and other exercises to get out of the Syndrome X category so he can return to his family in better health.

12. 9 Jamee. What about the millions who have been
uprooted in Iraq and Afganistan and the nearly million who were slaughtered in Rwanda in 1994 and untold millions else where who lost all and were NOT compensated? y parents lost four homes to eminent domain by a corrupt government in Arizona and it took TEN YEARS battling it out in the COURTS to get more than ten cents on the dollar they were offered for their homes. What did those TEN YEARS of conflict and anger do to my parents who were the only ones to fight? I made them angry people and affected their health. They should have walked away, shaking the dust from their feet and asking God to avenge them as He knows best how to do. Then they should have started over each time they were attacked by the corrupt government that destroyed the tax base for District One in Tucson when they could have built a University Medical Center and Medical School on vacant land on the outskirts of town.
It is better to be a door keeper in the house of God than to dwell in the tents of wickedness, King David said. Living in a trailer home, happy, with Mama not spewing venom would have been preferable to what hate and anger caused them to become.

|
13. 7 David: I see you think Israeli prisons for nonviolent
offenders should be like Brazil's where teenage girl traffic offenders are put into the same jail cells with violent criminals who rape them nearly to death. Going to prison should not be a rape experience or a death sentence, but that is what it is for many nonviolent offenders who are put into cells and prisons with violent offenders...or don't you know the difference?

14. #10 - Brod. Omri's guilty.
How can you honestly write that Omri was only doubtfully involved in the expulsion from Gush Katif? Omri ran the show on behalf of his father. YNET's article clearly states how Omri was the "backroom wheeler dealer". If you need absolute proof - drop me an email.

15. What about Peres?
Peres was also caught soliciting and accepting significant illegal contributions. He was told to return the money.
He hasn't.
When does Peres begin his sentence?

16. Hatred towards Omri? (Re: Rivka #12)
Rivkah: I'm not sure what your point is -- but anger and hatred against the corrupt politician that Omri is, is totally within the realm of Judaism.
I'm not going to turn the other cheek as corrupt politicians evict Jew after Jew from our homes, smile sweetly at them, and thank the Knesset for throwing us out.
Thats other religions. Not ours.
