1. Bomb the Power Lines
Avram ,   Askqelon   (02.28.08)
'Power Lines' means different things depending upon whether the context is about Political Power or Electric Power. I leave it to wiser men than me to figure out what to do about Political Power Lines. But as to the utility, the answer is a simple one:....bomb the Power Lines leading from Ashqelon to Gaza. Period. And when the Electric Company re-installs them, you simply bomb them again.
2. gaza terrorism
alan ,   bellaire, tx   (02.28.08)
Olmert must permit the IDF to destroy hamas to the best of its ability. at the same time...the Israel news office must begin an intensive media campaign, so the world knows that hamas packs its military sites with children, murdering them as well as israeli citizens. Israel news must get out first. Second, refuse to renew all media licenses in gaza and west bank arab towns. the less news, the better. third, shut off gaza water and power and lay the blame on arab countries who refuse to support their brethren in gaza. fourth, Israel must control the news and schools in gaza and west bank, promoting Judaism, either directly, or by mass media deluge.
3. simple solutions to halt Qassam fires:
(02.28.08)
Make no man's land the areas from where Qassams are launched towards Israel. Send buldozers protected by the IDF and warplanes and raze 1KM radius from the launching site center. Then Hamas would be more exposed to the IAF fire later on if they try again. We should do it systemically then Qassams fire would decrease and even be eliminated. This action is the best to take, it will not kill palestinians civilians and only expose Qassams lauchers to IAF and IDF fires. So as the population; they will live in a different place because of Hamas decision to fire from their house.period. UN wont condemn Israel because no civilians will be hurt and if we do it regularly the response would be considered as a normal one in a month and no one would complain about it. Another thing to do: Stop developping the Iron dome, this is too costly. Buy american systems now, more efficient, less costly as they use lasers instead of missiles!they will be deployed in less than a month if they change their mind (olmert and the other incompetent people at the top...) Other suggestions: develop a division only focusing on Gaza instead of using several divisions of fighters as Tsahal used to do. Others divisions should be prepared for real wars against real enemies (Syria, Iran etc.). Tsahal is not a police trained to fight guerillas and should not be equipped or trained to fight it. This is a huge mistake. Invest in an army not in a police! Other suggestion too : Stop developping "defense"systems against Iran ( except gas maks). And start investing in "offensive" ones!
4. you are wasting your time
chaim ,   brooklyn n.y   (02.28.08)
isn't it perfectly obvious, that this criminaly insane traitor ehud olmert is working for the enemy, and not for israel, people of israel you must get rid of this traitorous swine,or you will lose your country
5. Nip the katyushas in the bud
Scranton Slim ,   Durban, South Africa   (02.28.08)
It’s about time Israel's excuse for a government got its collective finger out and started to understand that unless it does something constructive right now against the katyusha rockets, its citizens in Ashkelon will become sitting ducks for the terrorists. It is apparently not bad enough that for years the citizens of Sderot have been bombarded with qassams regularly, on a daily basis, and this miserable government has done extremely little to put an end to it. This is a situation no other sovereign country in the world would tolerate.
6. Alex Fishman - You're right on the mark!
Millie ,   Israel   (02.28.08)
"Israeli indecision in face of rocket attacks emboldens Hamas, guarantees escalation" - that says it all. This gov't needs to be thrown out NOW! If someone organizes a major march or civil disobedience till the gov't resigns, I'll be one of the first to join.
7. For Israel's Sake
Norman F Birnberg ,   Salida USA   (02.28.08)
Restraint is fitting for an academic seminar or perhaps for a civil dispute between friendly neighbors. It has no place in a war where misplaced mercy is bound to end up getting you killed. Israel should be uprooting the Hamas regime and eradicating its infrastructure instead of letting things reach a point where she will be forced to do it later. Above all, a government that does not consider the murder of a Jewish father sufficient provocation to deliver the crushing blow upon the enemy has no right to continue in office. What is happening in Sderot is spreading and it is time the source of the cancer be treated than just contained. For Israel's sake.
8. Send a barrage back.
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (02.28.08)
They'll get the idea sooner or later. Maybe later
9. Please don’t enter Gaza
Casiopea ,   Spain   (02.28.08)
Bomb them from the outside. It is really sad that Israel puts their people at risk so to avoid pal casualties. To protect the pals is an obligation of their government, not Israel’s. Besides, if the pals are ruled by a terrorist gang it is because they chose it into office.
10. Restraint is immoral for both Israeli and Gazans
Bibliobob Gilobo ,   usa   (02.28.08)
The moral thing to is to defeat the enemy. How many more years will Israeli children be subject to the shock of warfare and Gazan children the hatred of incitement to kill Jews. Israel must defeat the enemy on the battlefield in order to make peace with them. If WW2 would have been fought this way, the Third reich would still be in power and Imperial Japan would still rule the Pacific. You must totally obliterate your enemy to make peace with him, as in WW2. This low level crap only serves Hamas, Hizbullah and Iranian interests and is Immoral!
11. Restraint
Marilyn ,   USA   (02.28.08)
Old saying, divide and conquer. In this, Israeli's need to find a way to be united before they should think about going to war. It may sound really basic, but a start would be to make a short list of ideas of what Israeli's love and what is most important to them, also what is basically non-negotiable. It is important for everyone to agree on this, so they can stand together . This is stronger than military action. So far, I'm thinking that people might come up with different answers.
12. all sugestion are false but mine is the best
sakran ,   jerusalem   (02.28.08)
we must change pals to israil and izrail to false
13. Why don't the Tel Aviv peace-loving liberals
Mike Jefferson ,   Washington, D.C.   (02.28.08)
form a giant human chain and walk through Gaza singing Kumbaya? Perhaps, they could sit down and talk to all of these terrorists and reason with them? Of course these wusses are too busy speaking of Israeli atrocities and Israeli failures. As long as missles rain on Sderot and Askelon, why should they care? Wake up Israel before it's too late.
14. The Public should be prepared
Jean Van Daem ,   Metula   (02.28.08)
"We shall fight on the seas and oceans we shall fight with growing confidence… we shall fight in the fields and in the streets…we shall fight in the hills…we shall never surrender." Winston Churchill 4 June 1940 Over one year ago, the northern half of the tiny state of Israel was under constant attack of missiles that fell not only on villages, and on towns, conveniently called "the periphery" on such occasions, but also on Haifa, the major port of Israel, the centre of its heavy industry, oil refineries, and vital chemical plants. Any normal country would have retaliated by laying waste the territory from which such indiscriminate attacks were aimed at civilians and civilian installations. Anything that even seems like an Israeli military setback is an invitation to another war. The Arabs and Muslims observe ceasefires only under the threat of terrible retribution. In order to restore our deterrence we need to stop them with a clear cut victory. As the Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi notes the bublic should be prepared for the next war. We should also remember the words of World War II General Douglas MacArthur: “It is fatal to enter any war without the will to win” : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/01/stop-them-with-clear-cut-victory-part-i.html
15. THE PRICE OF RESTRAINT
HENRYK ,   RAMAT GAN/ISRAEL   (02.28.08)
WHO REMEBERS KENNEDYS FAVORITE GENERAL MAXWELL TAYLOR HE INTRODUCED A THEORY OF LIMITED RESPONCE DURING THE VIETNAM WAR THE AMERICANS PLAYED LIMITED RESPONCE BUT NORT VIETNAM EXERCISED TOTAL WAR DOES IT SOUND FAMILIAR BARAK IS THE SPIRIT OF LIMITED RESPONCE MEANWHILE HAMAS SEND ALL THE ROCKETS THEY CAN SENT SOLUTION DO NOT BE HUMANE TO PEOPLE THAT WANT TO KILL U WHEN THEY SHOOT AT YOU SHOOT BACK TWICE THE AMOUNT AND NOT TO EMPTY BUILDINGS
16. GOVERMENT
GARY L. ,   CLEVELAND USA   (02.28.08)
THE STORY OF SHOLOM ALCHAICHAM."CHACHAMAY CHALM" COULD DO A BETTER JOB THEN THE ISRAELI GOVERMENT IS DOING TODAY IN GAZA!
17. IDF response or lack thereof
Fred Cahn ,   Boston, Mass USA   (02.29.08)
Israel's reluctance to employ its IDF forces to stop this Gaza rocket madness is an indicator of a dying state, both literally and figuratively. Israelis are choosing their own demise by virtue of their failure to force government action. Your passivity towards your government is killing you as surely as the Pals.
18. Use the airforce and artillery to save Israelis lives
Regina N.   (02.28.08)
Israel should behave like all other democracies and save the lives of its citizens and soldiers. The allies were already winning and yet they killed 630000 German civilians without prior notice to evacuate before bombing. It is also to save the lives of allies' soldiers that the atom bombs were used. This is the way Nato bombed in Yuguslavia, and also in Iraq and Aphganistan. Israel by contrasted sacrificed 23 soldiers in Jenin in 2002 where one plane could do the jobs in few minutes. This is the pattern due to particular to Jewish pathology. Therefore use carpet bombing from high altitude, and all siege forms. The world will blame Israel anyway. Recall how after Israel sacrificed its soldiers in Jenin, still all the newspapers (Times, Independent, Guardian..) were still talking about a massacre that in fact never happened.

22. Try this...
Rick ,   Hertzlia, IL   (02.29.08)
1) Take over the Philadelphi corridor and widen it to 3 or 4 kms. Prevent any more weaponry from reaching Gaza. 2) Then in a loud voice heard around the world announce that for every Kassam that falls in Israel 10 Shmuelikim will fall in Gaza in a random manner. 3) Keep this up until they stop shooting.
23. to rick hertzlia
gazan ,   egypt   (02.29.08)
we see the idf as guns carrying the bodies .. the sad is you see them the same .. no lessons from the last war
24. We are still "trembling Israelites",
mother of four ,   Israel   (03.01.08)
hardly the new Jew that Herzl envisaged. The duty of any government is to protect its own citizens, not sacrifice them on the alter of world opinion. The same world that allowed and encouraged the Holocaust. It is not the duty of government to protect the lives of the enemy, particularly at the expense of of the lives of its own residents.
25. To 10...Bravo !
Franklin ,   Paris   (03.01.08)
26. Play hardball - cut electricity, water and blockade Gaza!
Nannette ,   London   (03.02.08)
When people realise that they've spent billions in weapons and nothing on the infrastructure, only then will common sense prevail. Gazans should force Hamas out, and start building hospitals, schools, homes, industries, agriculture, and more importantly, their own infrastructure. Let them spend money on constructive projects instead of being allowed to buy weapons and ammunition!
