1. Blame Zig-Zag Olmert...He has to go
David ,   Rehovot   (03.03.08)
History will judge and HUNT you Mr.Olmert...,A few month ago you declared on state TV and i quote "indeed i am not a popular PM", in my view that was an understatement and you have lost the publics trust.
2. Rockets fall on Ashkelon ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (03.03.08)
Not to worry - Olmert will make a speech. Barak will make another speech. Livni will make a speech. The Knesset will make lot's of speeches. When rockets fall on Beersheva, our politicians will make more speeches. And finally, when rockets fall on Tel Aviv, well, it might be too late to make any speeches.
3. The solution is to
Talula ,   Israel   (03.03.08)
drop flyers, clear Gaza of civilians (of course whoever wants to stay can) and bring in MLRS. We only have to fire TWO. That will put a stop to any further rocket attacks. Just two, that's all it will take. Radical maybe, stupid definitely, but at least we won't have to see the haunting teary eyes of frightened children down south anymore. We HAVE serious firepower, we need to seriously think about using it now.
4. Can't be
Realist in Israel ,   Israel   (03.03.08)
But Rabin sadi it would nevre happen. He said that whoever said it would happen was a fear spreading war mongerer. But Arik said if we destroyed Gush Katif then everything would be OK. But Yossi, Shula and Yossi and Davis Grossman said that teh Arabd love us....How can they be shooting at us? Don't they love us? Especially after we gave them so many weapons. Can't we all just get along?
5. Keep Hitting Hamas!
Heather Czerniak ,   Milwaukee, USA   (03.03.08)
Israel has every right to hit back at Hamas. Israel also has every right to build settlements wherever they want. They don't need the approval of anyone in the Diaspora. The Palestinian people elected Hamas to represent them. Too bad if they can't take what they dish out.
6. WE TOLD YOU SO !!!!!
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (03.03.08)
To our appeasement junkies"We told you so" not that that will make any difference. You will try to do the same in Judea and the Shomron and go keep on walking your path of self destructive political correctness. Untill these rockets hit your coffeeshops in Tel Aviv nothing will be done. The IDF proves it is incapable to stop these missiles, no matter how many high tech gadgets they are using. As long as you have a chief of staff who is tyred of winning, the outcome of any conflict will be the same. There is no political vision nor will to protect our Perisable citizens. The more weakness and lack of resolve we show the more we wll see our friendly neighbours circle us like a pack of hungry wolves. The best solution to this is give up more land, give in more, appease more, better yet give up everything and pretend it will all go away !!
7. The God of Israel
American ,   USA   (03.03.08)
You are not dealing with normal people who value human life. Nor is Hamas the only entity you are dealing with. You are dealing with a large Islamist movement with propaganda arms in Europe and diplomats who run to the UN . However - The God of Israel is greater than them.
8. more data is needed
alan ,   Shumagin Islands   (03.03.08)
Olmert is still in the first phrase of gathering data on the number of rockets that have been launched, their serial numbers, and the finger prints on them. When the first phrase is completed sometime, any sweet old time, he will get to the second stage. There is no need to actually do something when Rice will tell him to undo it. So inaction is the best course. The little fire fights, painful as they were to the parents who lost sons, were intended to stay little so as to avoid any further investigations into the competency of the Prime Minister. The third stage for the PM will be announcement that this is one more pot hole on the road to eliminating the state of Israel from the map.

12. Attention! rocket fire continues
observer   (03.03.08)
Since the first rocket hit Israeli town in the early 2002, Qassams have been incessant, whether Israel was out or in Gaza. When Israel left, there was marked decrease in rocket number in 2005, to have its upsurges in 2006,2007 when Israel resumed the incursions into Gaza. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Qasam_graph2002-2007.svg About a visit to a Gaza rocket factory, Spiegel's reporter wrote: He studies by day, but at night he builds bombs for the Islamic Jihad. He and his fellow militants can produce up to 100 per night. "The TNT comes to us from Sudan via Egypt." Other elements arrive by boat across the sea to Gaza. ((while the IDF is blocking access to the less than 40 Km Gaza's shore)). http://www.spiegel.de/international/world/0,1518,531578,00.html How many of these factories are there, How many trained young-men ready to sacrifice their lives in return for incurring heavy losses on Israel IS NOT known. It's so many Davids, but only one Goliath.

14. Debka reporting Olmert ordered the end to the offensive
alan ,   south sitkastan   (03.03.08)
This is what Debka is reporting and it is not pretty: DEBKAfile Israeli troops abruptly withdraw from Gaza. Seven-story Ashkelon building hit by Katyusha Monday March 3, 2008, 9:39 AM (GMT+02:00) Shortly after Israel’s withdrawal, Monday, March 3, the Palestinians stepped up their missile and rocket attacks. Panic caused when Katyusha rocket hit a seven-story building, where people may be trapped. Missiles and mortars fire were aimed at Sderot, Kibbutz Yad Mordecai, Nahal Oz and Netiv Ha’asara. DEBKAfile reports: Prime minister Ehud Olmert decided on the sudden pullback of Israeli ground and armored units from northern Gaza before dawn Monday before their mission of halting Palestinian fire was accomplished. Stage one of Operation Hot Winter was announced at an end. Our military sources report that this step sharply contradicted the vocal assurances given by Olmert and defense minister Ehud a few hours earlier that the operation would press on until the Hamas missile-rocket offensive against Israeli civilians was brought to an end. Up until late Sunday night, Qassam rockets continued to explode in Sderot and Katyusha rockets in Ashkelon. Israel is left with the ineffective tactics of air, surface missile or artillery responses and short forays into Gaza as before. Our military sources report that this step sharply contradicted the vocal assurances given by Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and defense minister Ehud a few hours earlier that the operation would press on until the Hamas missile-rocket offensive against Israeli civilians was brought to an end. Up until late Sunday night, Qassam rockets continued to explode in Sderot and Katyusha rockets in Ashkelon. If this continues, Israel will resort to air, surface missile or artillery responses and short forays into Gaza as before. DEBKAfile’s military sources said this reversed instruction from the government to the IDF in mid-offensive was astonishing and unprecedented. Senior officers were in no doubt that Palestinian Hamas terrorist leaders would rush to claim victory and declare the Israeli army had been beaten into a retreat by their “martyrs”. Our political sources disclose that Olmert, during his absence in Tokyo last week, was far from happy with the way acting PM Tzipi Livni and Barak handled the sharp spike in Palestinian missile attacks. He felt they had caused an unnecessary escalation of the crisis to the point that a major military operation was unavoidable. Olmert held that short, sharp military strikes would have defused the crisis and obviated the need for a broad military offensive in Gaza, which he had consistently prevented. This week, the prime minister came under heavy US pressure to break off the operation. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice threatened to call off her visit which was scheduled for Tuesday, March 4 and lay the blame on Israel for the breakdown of peace talks with the Palestinians, although Mahmoud Abbas formally suspended all contacts with Israel until its army ended its Gaza incursion. She accused Israel of undermining the Bush administration’s entire Middle East strategy by its stepped-up Gaza offensive.

Thanks for the info Sir, this should very well explain Olmerts ZIG_ZAG moves, just the same moves as in Lebanon 2.

Terry #2. I read your posts with unfailing delight. I was in London last week and saw a performance of the Magic Flute in which one of the characters who never shuts up has a padlock placed on his mouth. I must admit, while revelling in Mozart's music , that it occured to me that if we did that to all and I repeat, all, our politicians we might be better off. More strength to your writing elbow
17. Defense Minister Ehud Barak said
Spinner ,   World   (03.03.08)
On Sunday, Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak said the Palestinians tried to avoid civilians in its attacks, but called any Israeli civilian deaths "the price of war." Or something like that!!!
18. Weak government
David ,   paris   (03.03.08)
This weak government is afraid to make a real war to protect its citizens. soon or later, rockets will hit Tel-Aviv. And living conditions will be intolerable for all the israelis.

of course you are not Christian because Christians believe in One God for the whole universe. Neither are you Muslim or atheist because you should have been knowing that the God of Israel is America.

Excellent point - I couldn't have said it better myself.
21. I just e-mailed the State Dept!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (03.03.08)
Said that Ms. Rice can just stay home. And if she believes that Israel is responsible for the 'breakdown of talks' she is an idiot! I included a map of Sderot showing where the qassams have hit! Said I am ashamed to be an American at the moment!

Re #7 and supporters,it seems that all of you are either blind or one eyed people, you only see what the Pals rockets do to your people and do not see what your rockets leave behind. More than 110 Pals were killed so far by your barbaric IDF,is,nt that good enough proof to convince you that your leaders are butchers, inhuman and killers?.Just open your other eye then you will realize how wrong you are.Nothing convinces you except a rocket hitting your head,Savegry never solve a problem but co existence does.Work to achieve that for your and our children future.

What a surprise!!! Didn't Olmert say that the operation was successful and that it was over???
28. He was just sayin'
Chrisona ,   Chicago.IL   (03.03.08)
"Didn't Olmert say that the operation was successful and that it was over???" To be fair, the PM said the operation was over. He did not say the rocket attacks would stop.
29. NAÏVE ..???Please...use spy satellite...
Franklin ,   Paris   (03.03.08)
and stop ground operations..... Fix a spy satellite over Gaza and target within seconds the launchers of Kassams or Grad. The best way to beat the Beast.

More than 110 Pals were killed so far by your barbaric IDF,is,nt that good enough proof to convince you that your leaders are butchers, inhuman and killers? So to you the rockets launched into Israel is a little more like blowing kisses? You're a bigot just like the rest. Israel will not regard her citizens as discardable trash that can tolerate the collective punishment of rockets launched purposely into civilian areas. Your Arab arrogance and lack of regard for life other than your own is despicable. Bombs should decimate the enemies of Israel and pigs should eat the remains! BTW: The numbers you quote are par for the course. Aren't those the same ratios you "people" use when you want a prisoner exchange? One dead Jew for 400 Palestinian prisoners? So you even admit yourselves that 400 Palestinians are probably not even equal to one dead Jew. So what are you complaining about?
