Study: 51% of Israelis secular    Kobi Nahshoni
31. David # 30
wishfull thinking , don't need a mercy . Where was he for the millions during the Shoa ? How can you believe in something without power to stop it , or who don't want to stop it , or the worse , who wanted it to happen .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.04.08)
32. S judah , wrong
the poorest towns are those where a vast quantity of not working orthodox live , Bne Berak and Jerusalem . And there , you can find plenty of work if you have learned something usefull , and not only the torah .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.04.08)
33. Choni # 10
It's not Rabbi Brackman who quotes the number of Non believing Israelis .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.04.08)
34. Jake
A secular who is a stranger to religion , does he believe in a god ? He does'nt follow "god's" laws , right ? In what is he different than an atheist one who negates god ?
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.04.08)
35. Charles can never be wrong , Good Lord!!!
The Good Lord seems to have made him perfect in understanding and wisdom. And we all thought it was Shlomo Hamelech who had those attributes. Fortunately I am from the Royal Blood Line and I say that the overwhelming majority are Traditional in belief . The 80% who keep Pesach and Yom Kippur say so too.
S Judah ,   London   (03.04.08)
36. S judah , always wrong .
Overwhelming majority traditional in belief ? Where did you take this number ? What is keeping Pesach for you ? having one special meal with matsoth ? Or going to kol nidre is this keeping Yom kippour for you ? If this is so for you , you don't know what Peasch and Yom Kippour are . Traditional does it mean religious for you ? will you call me traditional because the kitchen in my home is kosher ? [ i told already why ] or that i like matsoth , and eat them pesach ? You from the royal blood line ? such a "person" dares to claim this ? even i will not do it , so you ?
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.05.08)
37. S Judah , i'm right , you wrong
You did'nt refute anything i said regarding the Stieblech , kosher restaurants and poor towns . Why ? because you know that i'm right
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.05.08)
38. 36&37 Charles also has to have the last word.
As my Rabbi says, I always have the last word and its "yes dear."
S Judah ,   london   (03.05.08)
39. Charles
You ask, "where was He among the millions during shoa?" He was the same place He has always been. He went nowhere. His people did. He warned it would happen. Do you have Torah Charles? Have you read Parashas Vayeilech? You will find it in Devarim Charles. Being athiest, I doubt you know that. Do T'shuvah Charles and you will find Him and then you can ask Him yourself.
David ,   USA   (03.05.08)
40. S Judah , can't you answer my questions ?
Or is , as i suppose , everything you wrote , only your PURE invention ?
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.05.08)
41. David
I asked where , not among , he was during the Shoa . If you say that he warned , then it's the worse , because then he wanted this to happen . Your writings don't give me any proof , i'm secular don't forget it . And what about the 1.5 million children who were murdered ? and the vast quantities of god fearing people who were true believers and were also murdered ? What were their misdeeds ? And you can still believe ? Sad
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.06.08)
42. Lies, Lies, and More Lies!
I wasn't sure if Mark Twain would pass the censor so I reworded it: lies, lies, and damned lies! It was his condemnation of statistics, which stands true today as well. A poll is just badly framed statistics. The definition of "religious" in Israel is pretty amorphous and doesn't have the same stark divisions that exist outside of Israel. The "traditional jew" in the middle is a parve creature, neither purely religious or secular in character. I have met "secular jews" who keep kosher, where kippot, and whose wives go to mikvah. I have met "religious jews" who seem to be missing some fundamental points of observance, yet identify themselves as "religious" or "traditional." Most of the Israeli public is traditional and that isn't something either camp can claim for themselves. The fact is, there are more religious than secular jews in Israel, but neither of those camps forms a majority of the population.
David ,   Jerusalem   (03.06.08)
43. David , stupidity without borders
Seculars who keep kosher , wear kippoth and whose wives go to mikva , you wrote . In what are they seculars ? For me they are at least observant , if not believing , otherwise why should they do it ? Ok , if those statistics are lies , give me your SOURCES ! There are more religious than secular Jews in Israel , you wrote , if they are more they form a majority . How is it possible to write such stupidities
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.06.08)
44. 42 David , No point in continuing with Charles
It’s patiently obvious that the vast majority of Jews observe some mitzvoth, in particular Yom Kippur, Pesach, Brit Mila, Bar Mitzvah, Mezuzot, Religious Marriage, (Sadly) Kaddish. Charles attempts to denigrate this as meaningless in support of his atheistic views borders on hysteria. ,
S Judah ,   london   (03.06.08)
45. S Judah , again wrong and foolish
Do you think that people do Brith mila , Bar mitzwa , Mezuzot and so on out of religious observance or for Mitzwoth ? You obviously don't know about what you talk . But it's always so with you , in your imagination all seculars observe , if they do it , all those things out of religion , but your imagination can be compared with this of this rivkah , foolish . You did'nt contradict any of my points seriously , you could'nt say anything .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.06.08)
46. God - shown mercy to Charles
You learn well from your Zionist masters. Just as they milk the holocaust to further their aims you also use it as a springboard to deny the existence of your creator! Enough of this holocaust mentality. The story goes that there was a religious Yid digging out muck from a camp cesspit. An SS officer came over to him and joked “where’s you God now, dirty Jew?” He replied “right down here with me in this muck”. Those who continue to recognize God’s providence in this world after the tragedy of the extermination of Europe Jews are the one who are truly deserving of praise. You just want an easy life. If you want answers on the holocaust ask any religious survivor – there is one in my office. His arm tattoo and experience in Buchenwald has not made him loose faith. Shame on you Charles. The Nazis have succeeded in making another Jew forsake his precious heritage.
Jo Jo ,   London   (03.06.08)
47. Jo jo London , don't need your "praise"
Nor do i need god's mercy . This precious heritage , i lost as you say , made me leaving my birth country , and making alyah . So it's certainly not a jojo in london who is the right person to give me lessons . By your vocabulary , the words you use , it's seems to me that you are not Jewish , even anti Israeli . So shut up , and pray your god . Maybe he will , if he exist , have some pitty of you .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.06.08)
48. Jo Jo ,Don't waste your time with Charles
He has shamlessly exposed his true self in some utterly appalling and tasteless comments. Tonight when we mourn the loss of 8Yeshiva students with their blood staining the holy books they were learning from we can appreciate in which direction our future lies. It certainly isn't in the direction of Sleepless from Petach Tikva
S Judah ,   london   (03.07.08)
49. Charles: So you do keep mitzvot?
I am sure in the merit of your aliya to the Holyland, God will show you mercy. By every four steps you make on that hallowed land you are guaranteed great reward. Good Luck!
Jo Jo ,   London   (03.07.08)
50. s judah , you have a good friend : jojo
A guy who talks as the antisemites and Shoa deniers do . Good company for you . Poor guy . And for your friend , this jojo : This country is Historical mine , it's MY , and not your nor judah's , country .
charles ,   petach tikva   (03.07.08)
