4 achievements in Gaza    Ron Ben-Yishai
1. Hopefully this is just the start of cleaning up Aza.
(03.04.08)
2. Excellent analysis
Especially the immunizing and numbing effect the incursion has had on the reaction of the international community. Continue the moderate incursions and soon it won't be 70 Hamas men it will be 250 then 300. Hamas will be pleading for a ceasefire then. And remember, not a peep from the international community.
Yessir Ibn Badkarma ,   Kanwait   (03.04.08)
3.  what achievement?you are delusional
what achievement?you are delusional, the rockets are still flying two young soldiers are dead the idf was forced back to their border ,hammas is having a victory parade this is another bitter defeat for israel,as long as this criminaly insane traitor ehud olmert is PM.israel will keep losing its wars people of israel, please, please get rid of this traitorous piece of human garbage, before he destroys the rest of israel, just like he destroyed sderot and ashkelon
chaim ,   brooklyn n.y   (03.04.08)
4. whats good for the goose
i honestly feel that if miss rice and pm olmert were to hold their meetings in sedrot or ashklelon so that they both could feel the fear and pain those people see everyday---attitudes and policy would change instantly--when a snake crawls at a distance-it is not too bad--but when it gets in your sleeping bag with you-it gets your attention---------------

5. Bashing Israel
I just cannot understand why the UN and others want to condem Israel for defending their people and their Nation? Here Hamas has shot rocket and motors one right after another into the Settlements inside Israel and on two occasions two young boys lost both of his legs and the other lost one and could lose the other. Plus others have been hurt, both mentally and physically and had their homes destroyed. Where was the worlds condemnation for this? There was none!! Then let Israel take action to defend her people and Country and the actions kill a bunch of terrorists, a bunch of bomb making labs are destroyed, weapons storage buildings are bombed and those who are trying to launch rockets are hit and killed before they can do so, maybe saving the lives of children and others inside Israel and you all and the world want to hold Israel over coals and want to bring UN condemnations against Her because she defended herslf and her people. Where is the condemnation of Hamas and thos eresponsible for firing the rockets and motors? There is none. You all only tell how sad it is that Israel killed a terrorist who tried to kill someone inside Israel. There is never anything reported about the stabbings, beatings, shootings and such that happens quite often inside Israel or on their borders and are committed by these same terrorist. these are the very ones who starp bombs around a young girl and send her off to kill peopel in Israel. If these leaders of Hamas are so keen of becoming a myrtar, why do they not strap the bombs on thenselves and go on to Heaven. They don't do it because they themselves do not beleive. It is easy to say than do. Time is coming when GOD is going to seperate the sheep from the goats and then many will see just who is GOD's chosen people and Nation. Israel has tried to go down the peace road and have gave and gave and the more they give, the more you all want. When are you all going to give and do your part? You won't because you all do not have a peace agenda, just a agenda to destroy Israel and that my friends will never happen. GOD said it, not I.

6. kol hakavod brave sahal, but olmert must resign
he is brain dead and as jews we suffer because few fools wish to hold the chair like, shimon peres, katzav, arafat, yosi beilin the leftist mad man, peretz who did know anything about army and the foolish halutz who was thinking about his money in the bank and not our soldiers. all must rise and demand resignation of all these fools who have not resigned including BARAK HAPAKHDAN

7. Gaza
It seems to me that more and more Israel is understanding the Hamas and Hezbullah tactics of losing battles and gaining public sympathy. This time Israel made sure she had a clear - right to self to defense - that no one could argue with- least of all the USA who used Israels tactics in killing a terrrorist in Sudan just on this day.

8. we lost 2 soldiers
We lost 2 soldiers, and when we talk about wounded we are talking about young guys losing a leg or an arm; this is the type of war that the arabs want: erosion war. As long as they are keep firing without fear they are winning. Hamas lost 70 men? They will replace them with no problem, and give them weapons with petro dolars from Iran
ilan ,   belfast   (03.04.08)
9. are you sure!
first of all I have a question; was that the main reason behind the op. in Gaza and second ,tell me what I can extract from your statement "and the military leadership there also makes assessments and draws lessons, while improving its deployment accordingly".
Assaf ,   Jordan   (03.04.08)
10. “Poor inhabitant of Gaza”.
When Israel pulled out of Gaza, the world waited to see what the Palestinians would make of it, as a prelude to their having a full state including the West Bank. The first thing the Palestinians did was smash all the greenhouses the settlers had built, instead of using them to aid their economy. Then they turned Gaza into a mini-terror state, launching a war against Israel that continues to this day. And now they wonder why life in Gaza is so wretched, when it could have flourished. To those who say we should not isolate Hamas: Hamas isolated itself, with its aggression not only against Israel but also against other Palestinians. When the aggression will stop, the isolation will stop. But the aggression will never stop as long as Palestinian extremists continue to enjoy support from their self-righteous cheering section, which has chapters all over the world and in many universities and trade unions as explained at : http://israelagainstterror.blogspot.com/2008/02/collapse-of-political-correctnesswhere.html

11. To be very clear here...
There are NO achievements on the side of Israel. Operation Warm winter is a total failure. We should stop living in a pretentious world and make believe that we have done something to stop the Kassam missiles. We failed. The IDF failed. The Government failed. The Media too is failing to explain our plight. So at the moment Hammas won. If the government and the IDF want to change this shameful situation we ask that they deliver the goods. If they are incompetant then they should go home and let someone else do the job.

12. finally we were on a better track when olmert ruined it agai
n! He just can't stop ruining our country and people! Finally it was decided to attack those terrorists that make people flee the south and israel and try to let us loose hope here. and then comes mr. "ruining us" and calls it off. SHAME ON YOU!
uli ,   jerusalem   (03.04.08)
13. Chaim #3 - You don't understand a thing
You don't know a thing about the miitary and its tactics.
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (03.04.08)
14. No achievements in Gaza.
First off, the operation was aborted due to pressure from Ms Rice. There was no military reason for stopping. Second, the operation was very limited. It was only a pin-prick. Third, we did not eliminate any major Hamas figures. Fourth, we had no realistic goals - just a lot of hype & spin, tough talk for domestic consumption. In effect, we are exactly where we were before the larger than usual small scale incursion. Our soldiers do a great job given the limitations placed on them. Killing a hundred terrorists is not going to make much difference, however. As long as Olmert, Livni, & Barak are running the show, we will achieve nothing. As long as we remain hostage to a phoney peace process, we will achieve nothing. As long as we maintain the "Oslo" mentality, we will achieve nothing. As long as we have a leadership whose only goal is to remain in power, we will achieve nothing. In my dictionary, achievement is not synonomous with defeat.

16. to 13
I do! Withdrawing the troops served no military purpose whatsoever. it is merely a politically calculated move, and the wrong one at that. Israel has not achieved objectives, rockets continue to rain down, Hamas claims victory. and world condemns Israel for disproportionate response. What military college did you go to?
SL   (03.04.08)
17. wait a minute! no one can pass that
((Killing a hundred terrorists)) are you calling 22 children and 12 men terrorists? many more civilian men in addition, were murdered, mostly in what's called air strikes. then judge by yourself how precise were those strikes; at least 12 civilian men were killed. when you have a hundred terrorists half of them are civilians, no-one would call them terrorists.
observer   (03.04.08)
18. What happened to winning?
This situation will drag on until we face the cold reality that the Palestinans will not be interested in a peace settlement until they have been utterly defeated. The current "peace process" is a joke and a delusion. THe IDF must wipe out Hamas and cause large amounts of death and destruction. I know this is not politically correct but it is the only way to proceed.
Israeli citizen ,   Israel   (03.04.08)
19. Mazeltov, you finally made it.
Every time in the past when one would suggest that there is not much difference between Israel and you know whom we got the response from Zionist sympathisers "Israel hasn't done this yet" and "Israel hasn't done that yet". Well apart from mass gassings there isn't much left that Israel hasn't done.

20. ongoing attacks on Ashkelon?
Sderot doesn't count?
gedalia   (03.04.08)
21. if this operation is over
then warm winter fizzled like a snowflake on a spring day. that should have been only the beginning of a massive operation whose end result would be to a) stop rocket fire b) remove hamas

24. Nooooooo !!
First : Hamas will not think twice before launching Qassam. Qassam are no four years and continuing after each Israeli attack, why they will stop it after this op in particular ?? Second: In contaray ppl are here are more symphasise witj Hamas, unless you know more than me !!! ppl under seige have nothing to loose !! Third : Legitemacy among International community !!!.. who care ? you care ?? Fourth: Advise Haim to find more far place than Sederot and Ashqelom.

25. to no. 23
Maam, My heart grieves for you; I can't imagine what it is like to lose a son. I wish that your people would not have voted for Hamas. Israel withdrew from this land hoping that it would be used for houses, factories and farms, not a launching pad against the people of Sderot and Ashkelon. Is this what your people want? If not, please tell your leaders to stop bombing peaceful Israeli cities. Tell them you want PEACE AND LIFE, not WAR and DEATH. If they listen, your son will not have died in vain.

26. to #23: I feel your sorrow and I wish
that the Gaza palestinians had taken Gaza and turned into a shining example of what could be instead of the cesspool of violence and hate that it is.

27. #17 where did you learn to count?
If over 100 people are killed and 22 "children" and 12 "civilian" men are killed then even by your stats that is two-thirds are terrorists.
Danny   (03.05.08)
28. Ron: delusional
Ron's 'analysis" never dissapointing. They are so far away from reality that it isnt funny anymore!

29. To Ali # 24
... but you know that not all Gazans are not in the same vehicle... most of people in Gaza are waiting to see the final chapter of Hammas adventure, certainly, wishing a happy end!!!. Hamassans, who lose most of their poularity, fearing of tragedic end, either in israeli attacks, or by their people anger.
Gazan Citizen ,   Gaza   (03.05.08)
30. More than 50% is enough
If we believe that more than 50% are guily , then on the whole, we shoulg go ahead with it. Enough is enough. It is a war, not a battle. Well done Israel. On all fronts.
