as far as i am concern you have to be BORN Jewish from a Jewish Mother...all these what i describe as PROXY JEWS who describe themselves as Jewish, perhaps in this case the father should have thought long and deep about the contraints he has put upon his children and other mixed marriages that put constaints on their children by having mixed marriages...they knew what they were doing when mqarrying so should accept the consiquences

There needs to be a change . What is the reason ? Proof that the mother passes Jewish DNA? ..to be part of the tribe ?...In modern society you can now prove that the children of a man is his ,through DNA testing , so let's modernize a bit .

Rivkah: With all the arguing over who is a 'REAL JEW' that takes place, I think you have a good idea with your example from Ruth. I feel bad when I read about Jews who feel rejected because they don't have the 'approved' background. However, I think the current requirements, although they may make some (real) Jews feel bad, are necessary for the times we live in. I believe their purpose is to prevent Fake Jews from ultimately taking over Israel. I can well imagine that there are people who would pretend to be converts & join with other pretenders to influence Israeli law, politics, etc.. I can see this would be a way for Israeli's enemies to try and take over.

How racist is it to seperate children based on if they are Jewish. It should be illegal to have a Jewish school. Children should all go to public mixed schools where they will socialize with children of all religions races and sexual orientation. School should be where barriers between people are broken down not where bigotry is taught.
