Don't forget that most of the people whose citizenship you want to remove are former IDF soldiers and officers . Shame on you !!!
32. Now I get it
To #10, 28 ,   Israel   (03.23.08)
So Israel is guilty that your brother was murdered by a terrorist?
33. #28 Judges
Meir ,   Toronto   (03.23.08)
I (#25) apologize though my comments about seeing Israel as being half full and not over generalizing are true IMO.
34. Don’t pay them to return
Ron ,   Livingston, USA   (03.24.08)
Ariel Rubinstein is right on the mark. Many Israeli citizens leave because of economic conditions. How about helping them BEFORE they leave so they will remain. Investing in PREVENTION would be the success story here.
35. four corners
zecharia   (03.24.08)
the jewish people must be spread over the world with a safe haven in palestine for the religious . only an atheist warrior science regime can provide the defence and security for this ancient ethical culture but it must become more humanitarian as must islam and arabism .

You can have it .I bet you have dual citizenship and keep it active.
37. Don't be shy
Israeli ,   Israel   (03.24.08)
For all of you who make up all kinds of reasons about ideology etc why you live outside of Israel, there is no need. Just say that it is easier, that the material standard is higher and that's all, For people living in the US to say that they are living there for ideological reasons is really funny. There are no countries in the West that are more racist, who mistreat the poor, who have a more corrupt government, or who meddle in world affairs than the US.
38. #29: So you wouldn't recommend immigration to the US either?
5th generation ,   Israel   (03.24.08)
What you described about the modern soldiers' strife happens in the US on a larger scale. But that aside, your friend's "not wanting to leave one oppressive regime for another" is the typical Soviet propaganda-driven bull spread around. It is a disease born of ignorance. Too bad others like him didn't stay away.

Not all were former soldiers and officers. We need people to stay here and help build and defend Israel. I came here 33 years ago. I served as a combat soldier and do not want to return to the U.S. I keep my U.S. citizenship open just for visiting my family. I only vote in Israeli elections. And Mark,I am not some coward living in Ca. Stay there we do not need your type here!
40. Don't pay them to return
Danny   (03.24.08)
Take the money have a better service for returning citizens and immigrants. Have Misrad Ha'klita act as a guide for all the crap you have to deal with and tell how to get what is owed to you. In terms of bang for buck, it will make the experience much easier and so make it more likely that the new immigrant doesn't turn round and leave.
41. Tough call
Wendy in Chicago   (03.24.08)
I agree with both sides - why not tempt those who are traveling after the army to come back and get a good job. On the other hand, I personally know many, many Israelis living in the USA who pine for Israel every day, who only meant to leave for a couple years to make money, and can't return because of financial hardship. They are saving up to return. So, I'd like them to be able to get help, too.
42. #38 Are you stupid or just plain arrogant?
Etoile ,   Montreal, CAN   (03.24.08)
I get it, you skimmed through my post looking for some semblance of a flaw in order to make your attack. Sorry to dissapoint you. First, in the U.S, we have a program of voluntary enlistment unlike Israel. You can choose whether or not you want to sacrifice. Second, it appears it is you that bought into "propaganda-driven bull" as you so eloquently put it. You believe that throughout all these years, our U.S soldiers sacrificed for nothing. As for your comment on my friend, it is a pity Israel does not have gems like him to replace the rotten pampered pieces of cow dung like you. Where did you learn about the Soviet Union, in a classroom? He actually lived there, yet you know better. The sooner people like you leave Israel in pursuit of material wealth, the sooner we can come in and stop the decay that you and your ilk have enforced on the country.
43. Help Israelis who live there have more children.
Shachar ,   NYC   (03.24.08)
Help Israelis to stop having abortions, Help Israelis to establish married lives and have many children. Israelis really former Israelis Ex Israelis hate being Israelis or just hate living in Israel. Those ex Israelis in the US have very high rates of intermarraige and very high rates of conversion to Christianity, and a very palpable hatred of all things Jewish, especially Israel the Jewish State.
44. Why people leave
Eitan ,   Israel   (03.24.08)
There are 3 reasons why people leave Israel: arabs, economy and Israelis. About the first 2 we have been trying to improve things what we could. About the third one we never bothered to move a finger. Look at the talkbacks here as an example: we are screaming, demanding, accusing, bullying, manipulating, making people feel guilty, giving selfrighteous speeches and bragging, judging, not willing to listen, not willing to understand, intolerant to differences, etc. Any other developed society is normally much kinder to its individual citizens. As long as you follow the laws and pay taxes we accept you, and respect you, that's the message. But we - no, you have to go to the forces we like , to have the political opinion that we like, to be active, to give, to sacrifice, to be a good jew, if you decide to live a few years somewhere we will be angry, etc. And after you do follow all that we will still cut you in the line and honk at you for a tiniest hesitation while driving, and will find something to scold you for, so better grow a thick skin. How attractive do you think is that? I agree, we shouldn't pay people for coming back, but it would be a good idea to stop the mentality of anger and accusation and make a small gesture saying that anyone that is willing to come back is welcome, and we won't drive you insane for "deserting", and caring about yourself more than about Israel, as some kind of old grumpy manipulative relative.
45. to Al #10
israeli citizen   (03.24.08)
I too came here from the U.S. at 19. but instead of looking down my nose at everyone, I looked for the good and found plenty. Please stay there, we don't need someone with such a bad attitude.
46. 28..you are angry and bitter...i also understand the
(03.24.08)
bitterness of loss. I agree that theIsraeli governement is ...there may not be a word strong enough for how destructive I think Olmert and Peres are. Nonetheless, you must ask yourself what good your bitterness is doing. Are you happier for it? More importantly, is Israel better for it. Use it to do something constructive. Make Israel better and you'll be happier too. I wish you peace.....
47. all this anger makes me sad...we need each other
truth strikes again   (03.24.08)
there are too many trying to kill and destroy us. We need to find a way to accept each others limitations while making Israel safer, stronger and better. Those who do not live in Israel should help with hasbara and financially. Those who do should also help with hasbara and vote for a government that will not sell us all out...
48. 42...u owe 38 an apology
truth strikes again   (03.24.08)
You think you can insult a person and not have them throw it back at you? You wrote a very negative talkback and he responded, now you're pissed that he stood up to you. He is right...what you wrote was unfair, unsympathic, and only half truths. Israel is not perfect. There is much that needs to be changed, however, nor are the USA and Canada, or any other country for that matter. If you care help her to be better, but don't sit somewhere comfortably and throw crap at her. With all of Israels faults, she is our heart, and no one sits quietly while unproductive crap is thrown at ones heart.
49. u go dude!
truth strikes again   (03.24.08)
What you wrote is perfect. It's what I was trying to say also. But, it is important to note that Israelis have their own way too. While i would agree that their exterior can be harsh at times, they are also some of the most loyal and giving people I have ever known.
50. u go dude is for #44

51. 44
(03.24.08)
there are other reasons that people leave...sometimes life just gets away from them and the years pass before they remember how badly they want to be there or return...
52. 45...i wish you had ended ur talkback with kindness toward
truth strikes again   (03.24.08)
10's loss and his pain and encourage him to return to Israel. Perhaps this time he could do so with his cup half full rather than half empty. We don't all respond to pain and loss the same way. Some people need more time to heal...like Al...but we are all Jews and while we work to see the cup half full, we should also help each other. Helping each other is part of seeing the cup half full rather than half empty.
