1. YES to a complete investigation
YOEL ,   Raanana, IL   (03.26.08)
I would agree for investigating on this rabbi, but it's easy to read and analyze an article. Do this group need a translator? Or somebody should send them this newspaper? If investigation should be launched, I would like it to concern also arabs who expressed pleasure after this attack, and it should concern ALL the people who visited the family under their tent carrying Hamas's flags. If I say ALL, it's because it should also concern Taly Fahima.
2. He says...
Jonas ,   SAD   (03.26.08)
"I can already hear all those bleeding hearts… calling me a barbarian, immoral, an inciting rabbi… pay no attention to them, if it were up to them, Israel would cease to exist in 30 years." If were up to him and his kind, there WOULD BE NO ISRAEL, since his "Judaism Brotherhood" was AGAINST of making Israel state before 1947! So better he shut up.
3. Arab MKs call for violence against Jews IN Knesset
Reality Check ,   BaGolan   (03.26.08)
I would call them hypocritical but their intentions are open - the destruction of the Jewish State and using our democracy to achieve their nefarious goals
4. Vile, demented & dangerous - prosecute this for incitement.
Jude   (03.26.08)
This individual is not a Rabbi, that word is reserved for a respected & holy mentor who has a value not only for Jewish lives but for all of G-d's creation. This individual spouts wickedness from his position of influence which can only incite violence & lead to an unending circle of revenge & hatred & stereotyping of both peoples & no future for The State of Israel or a Palestinian State or either community in 30 years.. we will all be left " blind ". It is easy to advocate quick knee jerk extreme violent so called " solutions" dont favour these idiots with the name far right they arent - they are the same ilk as the terrorists who perpetrate these attacks on both sides - the minority of extremists who distort holy texts & ruin things for the silent majority in both communities who would & could get on with their lives given half a chance..
5. Incitement, Sedition, Treachery
Avinoam ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (03.26.08)
There are a lot of crazies in our midst. I don't know about this Rabbi in particular, but certainly there have been many Rabbis not held accountable for the consequences of their words. We are a lawful society and we like to make reference to our being the only free society in the middle east. Then why do we not act like it? Why is it that order can be hijacked by the crazies whenever they don't like something. When the government decided to evacuate Gaza it didn't matter if you liked it or not, if you believed we live in a lawful society, whether democratic or theocratic, you should have complied (and resisted through legal channels). Had the Rabbi's not incited the masses to resist the whole operation would have cost a lot less. That's billions of shekels that could have been funnelled into education or medicine, whose yearly budget is fat below what was wasted. Likewise we let crazies on the left act in ways that directly oppose the interests of the state. Note, it's ok to oppose the interests of the current government, but NOT those of the state. Why would we allow a man who clearly has a conflict of interests to speak out so vehemently against Israel from within the parliament, under the guise of free speech? I speak of dear Mr. Tibi, who never has a tear for our own fallen, but always for the poor Palestinians, often spouting the rhetoric of our enemies. If free speech is to mean anything it cannot be absolute, for a complete lack of accountability will bring down the very society which is trying to uphold such a noble ideal.
6. RED CAPE TO A BULL
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (03.26.08)
ANYBODY INCITING MURDER IN EMMULATION OF THE SHAHEED AT MERCAZ HARAV IS AN ACCOMPLICE TO THE CRIME TO THE CRIME. WHEN 85% OF ARABS SUPPORT THIS MASSACRE,IT IS ENOUGH REASON FOR JEWISH CITIZENS TO BE EXTREMELY FURIOUS.SUFFICIENTLY SO,BECAUSE 15% HAVE NOT DENOUNCED THIS MURDER PERPETRATED BY THEIR OWN COMMUNITY...FOR THIS REASON I CAN UNDERSTAND EMMOTIVE WORDS,ALTHOUGH I MIGHT NOT AGREE WITH THEM HOWEVER AS LONG AS SHAHEEDS ARE LOOKED UPON AS "SAINT" .MORE EMMOTIVE WORDS LEADING TO INTER ISRAELI ARAB COMMUNITY LIFE WILL BE VOICED.WE CAN TRY TO INFLUENCE IN A POSSITIVE DIRECTION FOR PEACEFUL RELATIONSHIP TO EXIST WITH OUR MOSLEM NEIGHBOURS...HOW ABOUT THE MOSLEM COMMUNITY MAKING MORE OF AN EFFORT SO THAT VOICES OF MODERATION CAN BE MORE FREELY BE HEARD..
7. Hypocrites...
Daniel ,   London   (03.26.08)
Are they bothered when Hizbollah and Hammas, etc. demand revenge when Arabs get killed? No... So, why take them seriously...
8. Jewish rabbis more radical than their Muslim counterparts
Rami ,   Nazareth, Israel   (03.26.08)
9. where's the incitement?
DAVID ,   NEW YORK   (03.26.08)
firstly, he explicitly stated that individuals should not take action but rather that it is up to the state to take action. secondly, he never even said that that action should be against arabs citizens of israel (as opposed for instance to bombing hamas). this incitement thing is really being used to suppress free speech. you should really need to prove that what someone says directly leads to immediate violence before one yells "incitement". for example, if someone yell to a mob "burn baby burn", that would be incitement.
10. #8 That Made No Sense
Thomas   (03.26.08)
A rabbi calling for vengence against Muslims is more radical than imam who calls for vengence against Jews? Explain.
11. The Rabbi said "I'm not talking about private individuals.."
dovid ,   Modiin   (03.26.08)
The Rabbi said "I'm not talking about private individuals, I'm talking about the state, it must cause them pain until they cry out for it to stop…"
12. Notice the most racist comment comes from NY
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (03.26.08)
American Zionists are the pits.
13. #8 Have you ever seen the barbarity of Sheikh Salach?
The Doc ,   Haifa, Israel   (03.26.08)
...or the crazed preachers in Mosques? They are all over YouTube! Even the most extremist Rabbi does not reach the level of incitement, cruelty and primitivism of those mad Muslim clerics! No Rami! If you want to feel what's it like, then go and attend a Muslims Brotherhood rally in Umm Al Fahm and see what REAL radicalism and call to genocide looks like. Only make sure you say you are a Muslim or a Anarchist, or from Tali Fahima's family, otherwise these peace-loving Muslims may show you what Muslim democracy and coexistence really means.
14. I agree with Mr.Eliyahu
Alex ,   Cosmopolitan   (03.26.08)
It’s absolutely necessary to revenge Jewish blood. Life in the ME requires this. This is the LAW of the Jewish people.
15. Are they kidding?
Jeffrey Levine ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (03.26.08)
This has got to be some kind of joke. The Arabs and Muslims threaten the Jews the world over on a daily basis. Nothing is ever done to them. Now one Rabbi speaks out after a horendous terrorist incident and and Arab group calls for an investigation. How rediculous is this!
16. ISRAELI COURT:Investigate & Imprison Rabbis &Free Terrorists
(03.26.08)
17. revenage
malka c.cantor ,   israel   (03.26.08)
i wonder whatit will take for people to wake up and see what is in front of them. and how much more blood has to be spilled of Jews?
18. A rabbi is a religious leader
Steve ,   US   (03.26.08)
If this rabbi is condemned for incitement, we will have to condemn the entire Jewish Bible (Tanakh) for incitement and condemn Jewish heroes for their part in it. Rabbis are religious leaders. They interpret law. I believe it is in the book of Joshua for instance (the 8th chapter?) An Israelite (Achan) took banned things -- precious things -- from the city of Jericho and hid them amongst his possessions. When Joshua and the people discovered it was Achan that did this terrible thing, not only did they put Achan to death but his entire family was put to death so everyone in Israel would hear and fear and not do such an evil thing ever again. Is this vengeance? Yes, probably. Maybe the Jews do not do this any more. Maybe the Jews should do this? Were Moses and Joshua evil men? I don't think so and neither is this rabbi. He is speaking from the Jewish Bible. Yes or no?
19. #15 I completly agree with you , Its ridiculous!!!!!!
rachel ,   usa   (03.26.08)
20. Investigate Arab MKs for Incitement Against Jews!
Nannette ,   London   (03.26.08)
21. rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu
Charles   (03.26.08)
replace Olmert soon
22. Looking for headlines
Ilan ,   Ariel   (03.26.08)
Silly Arabs looking for headlines. How is this different from Yaron London calling for Israel to shell neighborhoods or the half-dozen other government officials who talk as if they have a spine.
23. Someone forgot to read the word "the"
Steve ,   USA   (03.26.08)
B"H The adjective "the" here clearly refers to "the" people who committed the crime, not other people. If the characteristics of those specific people who committed the murder were other than described there might be some basis. Here, that is not the case however. The state actually implemented "the" suggestion so I am not seeing how the State could possibly go chasing after improper English interpretations here.
24. Incitement addendum to point 4
Jude   (03.26.08)
In his newsletter distributed to synagogues around the country, this " leader & pillar of the community " Eliyahu proposed "hanging the children of the terrorist who carried out the attack in the Mercaz Harav yeshiva from a tree." If that isn't incitement...i dont know what is...& it is revolting.
25. fighting against terrorism is not racism
Am Israel ,   Erets Hakodesh   (03.26.08)
