In his crowd of pretentious boors, he is hailed as a hero everytime he does something that causes suffering. If he really is an extreme leftist who feels for the Palestinias, why does he have to show it by hurting Israel and the Jews? What he is doing to snub Israel 60 is really no big deal. He is far from a great musician and Israel has scores of people that are quite capable of replacing him. What gives him away as an insincere jerk who wants to hurt others was his insistence on hurting Holocaust survivors by playing Wagner. There was no justification for doing so. If he really couldn't live without playing the antisemite's music, he could have done it in another country. The man is incapable of feeling empathy for others and his show of concern for the Palestinians is as phony as he is.

That is what I will do when I shun concerts conducted by Mr Barenboim. Politics and music need not be linked, but it seems that he cannot avoid doing so.

I am sure that all Israeli responders here, even though they despise Barenboim - have nothing against innocent Palestinian children and women. The reason we despise him, is not because we hate or wish harm toward innocent Palestinians. Rather, it's because of this pompous ass's constant, completely one-sided criticism and rantings against Israel, while turning a blind eye to Jewish suffering fom countless Palestinian terror examples. It is because of his blatant hatred toward the state of Israel, and all that it represents. And mostly, it is because of his bloated ego, and for his desire to do everything in his power to spite and spit in the face of Israelis. Many of his actions, are ugly provocations, intended only to give him headlines. Like performing Wagner (Nazi composer) despite explicitly being told not to do so. Like shunning and mouthing off a reporter for the IDF Waves radio station, just because she wore IDF uniform. And like so many other examples. So, while we have every reason in the world to hate this putz - we are not racist. We simply hate him because this is his intention, he wants us to hate him! And actually, there are plenty more Arab people I'd much rather meet, than the Jew Barenboim. I respect you, for example, much more than him. The point Barenboim wishes to make through highlighting the existence of the orchestra in the way he does, associating it with the effective denial of Israel's legitimacy, stops his contribution to the orchestra from being a genuine humanitarian act, and he drags down the orchestra's moral worth with him.

Obviously, your posting was well-meaning and I'm sure that most of the people who have written against Barenboim share your desire for peace. However, you missed the point here. Those negative postings about Barenboim are for his selfish and egotistical behavior. In essence, he has abandoned Israel and the Jewish people the same as he abandoned his sick wife. Barenboim has a character disorder that does not allow himself to feel empathy for others unless he gets attention for it. There are many peaceniks who are trying to have Jewish/Arab youth contacts. Yet, these people are well-meaning and are not planning to snub Israel on the occaision of its 60th anniversary. Barenboim is just a worthless peice of garbage who happens to have talent.

Barenboim is trying to encourage peace between two great peoples. He should be congratulated for that. He is a wonderful musician who is working to unite young peopIe through music education. I hope one day he will be remembered not only for his music but for his efforts in helping to create a lasting peace . The mistrust and hate has to stop so people can live together in harmony.
