1. Landau is obviously correct ....
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (04.03.08)
Unfortunately, no decision-makers are listening. The weasels & political prostitutes who are running this country could care less about anything except their own political survival, even if that survival is short-term. Their only concept of victory is to stay in office one more day. Their idea of security is job-security.
2. Our response must be so disproportional
Adam Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.03.08)
This is blatantly the stupidist thing to come out of a politician in a while. It's up there with gays causing earthquakes. If our response is utterly disproportional then we don't have a chance in hell of defending before American public opinion. We'd become an isolated pariah right when a global recession is looming. It's a gut response and not strategic; about as effective as a two-year old tantrum breaking things. Is this supposed to be revolutionary tactical thinking? Bomb everything? And then what? No thanks Mr. Landau. I think Israelis enjoy international flights, goods, and commerce and would rather not the likes of you make us less popular than Iran and isolated like North Korea. Get out of your bunker mentality.
3. Terry
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.03.08)
I see you comment all the time and your comments are miserable. What's the matter? You're living in Eilat so go swim with the dolphins and relax already
4. Dr. Landau is right, Mr. Smith is living in 1938.
Aaron ,   Ra'anana   (04.03.08)
No one in the international community will stand up for the right of the jews in Sderot and elsewhere to live free of terror, be it from the air or from suicide bombers, if Israel's own government is unwilling to take the necessary steps to protect its civilians and fight terror. You my friend are deluding yourself and I suggest you distance yourself from Mr. Beilin and Mr. Peres in Tel Aviv and move to Israel.
5. #3
Smith 2 ,   TA, Israel   (04.03.08)
What a great, well-thought out contribution! If you have nothing to say, why don't you get a life?
6. finally.a voice of sanity
chaim schonbrun ,   brooklyn n.y   (04.03.08)
finally,a voice of sanity this criminally insane, delusional, pathetic coward'ehud olmert' has turned israel into a one big warsaw ghetto, where jewish children in sderot ,for the last two years have not been able to sleep in their bedrooms, but had to be hiding all night in their bunkers, just like their great grandfathers in the ghetto's of europe during world war two
7. risks
George ,   US   (04.03.08)
Sadly I agree with the author -- A decisive and overwhelming Israeli victory is needed. Let the enemy be vanquished and fear to make war and terrorize Israel , eve again !
8. UZI for Prme Minister
dezon ,   TLV   (04.03.08)
We love you Uzi, always correct. Wish you and Bibi were in office.
9. of course! deterrence and not fortification is the answer!
redmike ,   tel aviv   (04.03.08)
10. #3 - most of us really enjoy Terry's intelligent comments!
redmike ,   tel aviv   (04.03.08)
Some of us work in hasbara which we feel is preferable to negative criticism. Mike
11. Response and responsible leaders
Arthur Porter ,   Boston, Mass   (04.03.08)
How is it that the most educated country in the mideast and probably Europe as well, does not have the reasoning ability to see that their own government is putting them at risk daily? How ,and more importantly, why do they tolerate the ineptitude of leaders like Olmert and Barak? It is a mystery to the Jews of America and all supporters of Israel. If you won't help yourself why should we? Install a leadership that will protect you and in turn, Jews everywhere. If Israel is not safe, the no Jew is safe.
12. #11- how would you install this new leadership?
redmike ,   tel aviv   (04.03.08)
95% of the country wants to replace Olmert and Co with Bibi but how can it be done, except by waiting for elections? Tell us how, we'd love to know, Mike
13. Re#3. What exactly you don't like about Terry's comments?
Hanoch ,   USA   (04.04.08)
What exactly you don't like about Terry's comments? From all the people you happen to pick on one the most valuable and articulate contributors on this TB. Or, maybe that's why you picked him...
14. the problem is simple
nana ,   gaza   (04.04.08)
it is israili palastinian conflect and fullstop .but israil make it sderot or war on terror or kassam or semitism or any other word
15. The risks of fortification by Uzi Landau
jim vernon ,   livingston united st   (04.04.08)
Its okay to steal Palestinian land following the logic that might is right. This we know. But please, oh please Mr. Landau, don't expect Palestinians to lay down and accept what is happening to them without so much as a whimper. That would be sort of silly wouldn't it? This naughtiness will go on until the final solution is applied to these people, lest we forget.
16. Stop the rockets
David Bronfman ,   Toronto, Canada   (04.04.08)
Uzi Landau is spot-on.
17. jim vernon (#15) is a moron
NBM ,   Tel Aviv   (04.04.08)
You obviously have such a warped understanding of reality... why do you even waste your time reading through Ynet?
18. Terry
Smith ,   TA, Israel   (04.04.08)
I "picked" on Terry, who has not replied, because in all the TB's all his remarks are just invective rants against the government and all politicians. If rants and raving are all that pass for comment then I don't know what to tell you. My real comment was #2 Politics is not simply about hearing what you want to hear and doing what you want done. If that's what you really want then I suggest following Terry's advice and hiring Vietnamese prostitutes to be politicians of Israel My problem with Terry is that his comments don't offer a suggestion. All they do is rant and rave against all politicans, which to me is to rant against democracy itself. I'm no fan of this government and think that given that most politicans are crooked Israels bunch are remarkably crooked for a developed country. The best way to change things is to vote and get involved instead of resigning yourself to the misplaced belief that politics is not the answer. And besides, Terry lives in Eilat. That place is paradise and the safest place in Israel. Why are you so angry Terry? Go the bedouin tent, smoke some nargilla, and eat some hummus with phool.
19. Peace for gaza civilians is also a need
Jalal ,   Gaza   (04.05.08)
20. UZI'S OBSERVATIONS...
EMANN ,   TORONTO, CANADA   (04.05.08)
UZI IS RIGHT, OF COURSE. THE LACK OF LEADERSHIP IN OUR ISRAEL IS DISHEARTENING... WE HAVE A GOVERNMENT OF ASS KISSERS AND GREEDY, SELF INTERESTED POLICITICANS... IT IS A "SHIP OF FOOLS" LED BY FOOLS... WISH LANDAU WAS BACK IN GOVERNMENT,
21. peace for gaza
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.05.08)
yes, gaza needs peace. but hamas doesn't. and fatah doesn't. and islamic jihad doesn't. in fact, peace will ruin their little "business", because peace would allow the people of gaza to find jobs, other than working for them, and would allow people to support their families, without handouts from them, and would allow aid agencies to operate without paying kickbacks to them. every time the people of gaza have a chance at peace, the terrorists fire another rocket, or launch another attack at a border crossing, or burn down the greenhouses. why? because the terrorists see the suffering of their people as good both internally, for control, and externally, as propaganda. if you want peace for gaza, end the PLO occupation, now!
22. absurd!
tom ,   toronto, canada   (04.05.08)
imagine a battlefield, with bullets and rockets and shrapnel flying in every direction, and a group of soldiers are standing in the middle of it all, "discussing" what they should do, take cover or shoot back? and instead of orders from headquarters, the radio keeps playing cheerful music and press conferences with the generals about the next ceasefire. obviously, this is no way to run a war, and somebody is going to get themselves killed. the "problem" is not a lack of armchair generals, uzi landau included, but a lack of real leadership. there are no orders coming from headquarters....
23. Another Jewish Patriot - Ignored
Robert Bass ,   St. Louis USA   (04.05.08)
A great mind, an honest man, a Jewish partisan. Exactly the rare and indispensable man that is ignored - even villified - in the sad state of Israel.
