31. The Hague, and enforcing jewish religious laws ... LOL
Tobias   (04.08.08)
“will appeal the court’s decision, and if an Israeli court can’t see the value of a Passover bread ban, perhaps the International Court in the Hague will.” Yeah, sure they will ... The judges in Den Haag probably will made the secular and the non-jewish residents in Israel obey the demands of the haredim ... even more than the Israeli judges ... because the guys in Den Haag always have been such great friends of the jews??? ---- I don't understand how this man gets such ideas ... Anyway, why should the goys in Den Haag be interested so much in a temporary bread sale prohibition? They can't relate to that topic ...
32. Who needs the Arabs?
Michael S. ,   Brooklyn, NY   (04.08.08)
Who needs the Arabs trying to kill all of us when it seems like if they leave us alone long enough Israel will break out into civil war. The Haredim are the one's trying to hold the gun to the head of every secular person. Just don't buy bread and it won't bother you. Us Jew's in NYC aren't any worse off because there is bread around during Pesach. We just don't eat it. You want to impose your views on someone...move to iran, N. Korea, Syria...

34. Makes Me Sad ..
Christy ,   Boston, US   (04.08.08)
.. to think that Jews are arguing about the sale of leavened bread during the time the Bible states not to have any. As a Christian, who has no bread restrictions on me, I would EXPECT that during the Passover season in Israel I'd not be able to buy leavened bread. I don't think I'd have any leveaned bread during that time in Israel, even if I could. I would try and respect what God says in the Bible. You know what? It wouldn't kill me to be unable to have it. Nor will it kill anyone else not to have it. Israel is a Jewish state. What is *MORE* Jewish than Passover and it's bread/leavening restrictions?! Why should anyone think these restrictions should be exempted for 'them'? As I stated, I'm a Christian and wouldn't expect to have leavened bread-or leavening- in Israel, especially Jerusalem, until after the days of Passover. I would want to respect the beliefs of the host country, which is Jewish. Jews want to have pizza during Passover? Come to the US. Tons of places will sell you pizza. Could also have cheeseburgers if you want. Why demand to have items with leavening during Passover in Israel!? It makes no sense other than the stubborn will of people who say "I Want".
35. Bread Ban Legislation
David Balint ,   Seattle, USA   (04.08.08)
So let me get this straight. The haredim don't serve in the military, many don't have jobs contributing to the economy, they have an underground economy avoiding taxes and they live substantially on the dole from citizens who do pay taxes. Now they want to coerce the entire populace into observance. Hhumm, under the court decision no one will force anyone to buy hametz or to patranize any store that does. What is wrong with this picture?
36. Ban Bread?? How will Livni make a HAM SANDWICH?
hymie zoltsveis ,   NYC USA   (04.08.08)
How dare the religious Jews ban bread during Pesach! How are Livni, Peres, Barak, and Olmert going to make a decent ham sandwich? Have you ever seen the mess resulting from making a ham sandwich of matzoh???
37. No bread for eight days---no big deal
hymie zoltsveis ,   NYC USA   (04.08.08)
Giving up the SALE of bread and chumetz for eight days is no biggie. You want bread----buy it before hand and eat it until you burst. Some posters are absolutely correct about the religious parties. WHY STOP YOUR INFLUENCE on matters dealing only with Chumetz??? Why stop with JUST the cleaning of houses for Pesach. For Pesach, Shas and Torah Judaism, etc. parties should clean out the Knesset, and OUST OLMERT, Livni, Barak and Peres.
38. No compromise form the seculars
Jo Jo ,   London   (04.08.08)
The seculars have so much disdain for religion, they can't give up one week with out bread. Let's say the government banned the sale of chickens for a week over heath reasons, or cheese like they had to in Italy? Would there be people saying "It is none of their bloody business what I buy or eat." I think not. Just b/c one does not have an appreciation for the Torah Laws does not mean it should lead to such outbursts. It is obviously more important for the religion than for the secular - so give in.

42. Throw out Chumetz--Throw out Livni and Olmert
hymie zoltsveis ,   NYC, NY, USA   (04.09.08)
It will soon be time to clean out the chumetz for Pesach. When we clean out our cupboards, we should also CLEAN OUT the ultra-chumetz---- Livni and Olmert (ham sandwiches and all) as well as Barak and Peres....two well-proven robots, who will destroy Isrrael, if told to do so by Rice and Bush. NO MORE GIVE-AWAYS to our muslime enemies.
