32. West Side Story in Jerusalem
Ester ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.09.08)
Oy, who cares? This strong-willed bride didn't get that way overnight. Her family must have known her stubborness & should have thought about that before sending her off unsupervised. And the groom? Whatever his problem, like his family, he doesn't give a damn what others think. This happens everywhere all the time! This is news? I married someone against everyones wishes (yes he was a jerk, yes we got divorced within a year). Tragic? Yes. Newsworthy? C'mon! There are REAL problems in this world that need our attention.
33. Of course this is a story....
Andy ,   ramat hasharon   (04.09.08)
about how "prominant rabbis" are willing to put their names on what amount to a Fatwa, claimaing that this or that wedding is "against the Torah." That exposes such indivduals as FRAUDS who are MAKING IT UP AS THEY GO ALONG causing great suffering in the lives of real people. Nothing in the Torah forbids this marraige as nothing in the Torah forbids myriad human activities that are banned only because prominant rabbis say so and not God almighty himself. Another RIDICULOUS example: God says its a sin to go into an elevator on Shabbat and press a button to get to the 20th floor. But God says ok to get into that same elevator and ride to the 20th floor as long as its pre-programmed to stop on floors 1 through 19.
34. 21; I suspect your guardian disowned you because you married
(04.09.08)
an American, the enemy in the eyes of post World War II Germany. Many German women were disowned and ostracized by their families for marrying Americans. They became bitter helions in America and should have stayed in Germany and married a Turk since the German males were decimated in the war. You, of course, are an exception. You actually were happy with your American husband, unlike the great multitude of German women who hate America and everything and everyone in it and should go home to Europe.
35. Now that she married an Israeli, is the bride going to serve
(04.09.08)
in the IDF? Will her husband? Not likely.

37. #6 You are SO right.
ashamed citizen ,   of Israel   (04.09.08)
No one has mentioned the 1st yahrzeit of a REAL tzaddik, Prof Liviu Lubrescu, who gave his life, that 22 students should live. One year ago, Virginia Tech. Aren't we disgusting, all of us. True, Ynet?
38. #31 Is that correct?
israel ,   Israel   (04.09.08)
Another millionaire 'yored'? Even more disgusting. He certainly doesnt deserve such a decent son in law.

41. This is NOTHING, you should have heard my parents
Sarah ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (04.09.08)
..when I got engaged to a boy "beneath my station" and not only that but he was a SEPHARDI! You could have heard the screams from New York to Tel Aviv. Oy va voy... That was 30 years ago, we are still happily married with 8 kids and 18 grandchildren KA"H
42. Money, money, money...(c) ABBA
I.N.Cognito ,   Brooklyn, USA   (04.09.08)
and people still respect the rabbis?
43. Congratulations to the Happy Couple!
D.Torres ,   NYC USA   (04.09.08)
Live long and prosper! Don't let anyone or anybody get in the way of your love.
44. Obiously, if Rabbis are involved, there's more to the story
Miriam ,   Israel   (04.09.08)
than money. If the Rabbis say, "After hearing from important scholars that your son is about to marry a girl as opposed to the Torah's wishes" then who knows how religious he still is??? You talkbackers are so naive and so full of hatred of chareidim, it's disgusting.
45. RE; Miriam - What society are you living in.
Bartley Kulp ,   Safed, Israel   (04.09.08)
When a person has a lot of money it is easy for him these days to get the confidence of Rabbis. You would cringe if you had any idea how fundraising is done and what involves running an institution. Unfortunately these days it is very easy to manipulate rabbis. What can we do? Pray for Mashiach.
46. #26
Ha Ha ,   You cant read   (04.09.08)
"Leaflets slamming the marriage were hung in haredi neighborhoods, carrying the signatures of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Nissim Karelitz and Rabbi Michal Yehuda Levkovitch."
47. #35 Where did that come from?
huh? ,   tim buck two   (04.09.08)
48. Bride lucky to be Jewish, if Muslim, she'd be dead by now...
AK   (04.09.08)
and the same goes for the groom. Wish the young couple all the happiness in their married life.
49. #45 If it's true that
Miriam ,   Israel   (04.09.08)
Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, Rabbi Nissim Karelitz and Rabbi Michal Yehuda Levkovitch backed him, it's impossible they would be manipulated by money. Not these Rabbis. Perhaps others, but certainly not these. There must be something else missing in this story.
50. #44

May Hashem shower the couple with blessings!
55. What's with the anti-Islam advertisement??
Good Jew   (04.10.08)
Long live freedom of expression, but not when it so clearly incites needless hate and, Gd forbid, violence. How would we (Jews) feel if it instead read "Judaism Conquers Jerusalem," complete with the horror-movie typeface and image of the Temple Mount being bombed? Loving our people and Israel, and being concerned for our/its well-being does not make it okay to slander another faith and, by implication, all of its believers. This is lashon ha'rah in blatant form and, as such, harms not only those who are slandered, but those who placed and have to see the advertisement as well (i.e., this advertisement hurts Jews and Israel as well all others who see it). Shame on those who, fear-mongering, placed the advertisement and the ynetnews.com editors who allowed it to be posted and, presumably, received payment for its placement and therefore accrue monetary benefit (part of their salaries) from the debasement of an entire religion. In the future, please try to be more tasteful in your revenue streams.
56. #41 Sarah with 8 kids and 18 grandchildren
(04.10.08)
you haven't time to know whether you're happy or not :-)) I wish you many more years of joy!
57. The Score - Love:1 Wacky Cult: millions
Josh   (04.10.08)
How many times has the cult won over true love? How many machizahs, baroguses, shunnings and peer pressure tacktics have been used to squash relationships of love for the alternative Rabbi arranged marriages. I agree with observing the Torah that Moses delivered, not the words of a Miriam whos states a cushite is not good enough to be Moses' wife. If someone is not from a "good" family but still a good person or a convert returns from the Jewish cult of Christianity, the Rabbis try to force them to take the table scraps. Even G-d forgives one who returns, the Rabbis however do not enforce one law for all, rather Chet addtions that justify treating who they want as dogs. This is not the Torah Abraham practice as Abraham had friends who were goyim, it is not God's way as God converted all the hebrews and the souls that joined (goyim converts) them to our Torah. Like Abrahams response to the king of Sodom. I wont take a shoe lace from those who add to Torah against its prohibitions against additional laws.
58. Her parents should be happy that she's marrying a Jew.
Muchadoaboutnothing   (04.10.08)
Everyday there are more and more Orthodox young people getting married to Gentiles. He seems like a fine young man and their children will be Jewish. Her parents should rejoice about that.
59. Hasidic Wedding
Voice of Reason ,   Here & Now   (04.10.08)
Where do you guys find these stories? There is nothing out there happening except these anti- Human interest crap stroies. May the young couple have a long, happy and fruitful life together. May the children of the staff at YNut all see the light and "chozer betshuva" and become the headaches that their parents like to write about. Oh and by the way to all A HAPPY PESACH how ever you celebrate it.
60. #22 - AMEN! - end
