1. At least he is keeping his philanthropy in Israel.
Rivkah   (04.13.08)
When he was attacked in France with what he said we false accusations out of envy, Israel took him and protected him. He shows his appreciation by helping Israelis. Andrew Carnagie, who made a fortune in American steel mills, remembered Americans and built libraries in his old age across America instead of in some foreign land. Charity begins at home.
2. Bravo; But I'm afraid you won't get my vote
Aharon   (04.13.08)
I appreciate everything he is doing - whether it is politically motivated or not is irrelevant. The man is helping his country where the government fails to do so, I only wish this spirit were more common among the rest of today's Israelis. Having said that, he won't be getting my vote. I don't agree with the undemocratic way he runs his party, and frankly, I don't think more and more welfare payments are the way to solve our economic problems.
3. Give the money DIRECTLY to the people concerned
Talula ,   Israel   (04.13.08)
do not, for the love of God, give it to the government to give them. They'll never get it. Nice gesture from Mr. Gaydamak - but what does he really want in return? Something a little eery about it. When something is too good to be true….
4. #1 'false accusations and envy... hmmm ?
Israel   (04.13.08)
Wikipedia says: Gaydamak left France after many years, after an international arrest warrant was issued for him in connection with Angolagate, an arms-dealing scandal. He is wanted on two charges; illegal arms dealing with Angola, and tax evasion. France has unsuccessfully attempted to obtain his extradition from Israel, but this has been declined by the Israeli judiciary on the grounds that the factual allegations could not be considered as an offense under the laws of the extraditing country (in this case, Israel) at the time that they were allegedly committed, this being an international prerequisite of extradition, and that other alleged offenses, such as fiscal ones, are not extraditable by nature. Jealous? Nah, I don't think so.
5. Thank you Mr. Gaydamak.
petra ,   usa   (04.13.08)
For doing some real good for people who need it most. May the G-d of Israel bless you all the more for your generosity and kindness. May it extend to all the poorest people of Israel.
6. # 3 Tulala Sometimes a gift is just a gift.
petra ,   usa   (04.13.08)
A thank you is sufficient not suspicion.
7. #6 Sometimes a gift is just a gift?
Talula ,   Israel   (04.13.08)
NOT IN ISRAEL IT ISN'T!!!!!
8. Another generous publicity stunt
3Jay ,   Israel   (04.13.08)
This guy employs a really great PR man. If it was kept out of the media, i might of believed that his intentions were somewhat genuine, but this isnt the case. Given the mans past criminal history, donating money to the needy doesnt rectify the past. Its obvious Gadymak is a fugitive that bribed his way into this country and that he has political aspirations. You work it out.
9. # 7 BE HAPPY FOR THOSE WHO GET THE GIFT, PLEASE.
petra ,   USA   (04.13.08)
THE GOV DOES NOTHING AT LEAST HE PUTS HIS $$ WHERE HIS HEART IS, THEY DON'T. HE'S MAKING THEM LOOK VERY BAD, AND I 'M HAPPY HE HELPED. WHAT'S THE OLD EXPRESSION, 'DON'T LOOK A GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH'?
10. # 3 JAY
petra ,   USA   (04.13.08)
AT LEAST HE KNOWS HOW TO GET FAVORABLE PUBLICITY. PERHAPS HE WOULD BE A GOOD PR MAN FOR ISRAEL? SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE. WHATEVER HIS PAST, ONLY HE HELPS THOSE OLD FOLKS IN NEED. DO YOU? DOES THE GOV?
11. Lets put this in perspective.
Chanan ,   Jerusalem   (04.13.08)
Gaydamak, made aliyah before being charged by the French Government, he acted as an agent on behalf of Jean-Christophe Mitterrand, who was also charged under the French Act for arms dealing and tax evasion, although the case has been filed the Israeli media and public still chase after a story that is not. Arcadi motives can only be seen as Chesed, and if you believe in the Jewish religion, it is only that. There comes a time when philanthropists make a stand, and question, why is it they they have to deliver, when the government fails, in many countries around the world they create lobby's, as we know our society is corrupt, Arcadi went one better he created a political vehicle, so lets support his initiative and not run it down.
12. 4 Israel: He was selectively presecuted since
Rivkah   (04.14.08)
Adnan Kashoggi the biggest arms dealer in the world has not been charged with the murder of Princess Diana and other crimes, a far bigger fish to fry. Princess Diana was dating the nephew of Adnan Kashoggi, Dodi Al Fayed. Muslims do not hesitate to kill their own to get to their real target. Princess Diana was making headway in getting land mines banned world wide and that was cutting into profits for Adnan Kashoggi. The inquest conveniently did not consider that since they were afraid to. It was less formidable to blame the paparazzi and the driver. People have tried to kill me and no charges were filed against them. My mother and mother in law were murdered in hospitals and no charges were filed. The big killers are not charged with crimes. Mr. Gaydamak was charged because he is a Jew and people were jealous. That does not mean he is innocent. It just means it is not right to charge one person and not charge others who are guilty of worse offenses. I also believe Mohammed Al Fayed was involved in the murder of Princess Diana and that is why he has tried so hard to blame Prince Philip, to deflect guilt away from Adnan Kashoggi.
13. 11 Chanan: You need to go to the Wikipedia article on Mr.
Rivkah   (04.14.08)
Gaydmak and edit it, which is allowed. See if your corrections are put there.
