63. Jimmy Carter Is and Always has been a Great Man
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (04.15.08)
Regardless of the ranting of the vile Zionazis in this forum, Carter remains a world renowned humanitarian, holder of a Nobel peace prize and twice the man that any Israeli leader has ever been. Jimmy Carter’s will always be remembered as one of the world’s greatest humanitarians, while the legacy of Israeli leaders will be a shameful one of racism and ethnic cleansing that will find its sordid place in annals. I am glad that Carter did not lower himself to the moral and ethical level of the bottom feeder leaders in charge of Israel and actually meet with them during his trip, for they do not even deserve the right to be in the presence of such a great human being. Thank you President Carter and I pray that the Next US President may have the courage and moral strength you exhibit so well.

What game are you on about? The Middle East is not a play area where everybody lives in peace and security, its a volitile place where settlements between neighbors rarely take place. Indeed Israel has its faults but stealing back your own land just doesn't make any sense. Apartheid is when ethnic races are seperated from one another. I've been to Israel and seen for myself that the country isn't like what South Africa was and in some parts still is. People just like to use the word 'apartheid' as an excuse to blame Israel. Maybe arrogant people like you should visit Israel and see who the real enemy is instead of slating Israel who has survived despite everything terror and people like you have thrown at them.

Carter holds a nobel peace prize well so did Arafat. Nobel prizes today are apointed for political reasons not because the individual has actually earned it. Arafat he got his as a bribe & to encourage him to work towards peace which he did not. Olmerts waiting for his nobel prize and thats why he is selling out the country for nothing all that matters is his politicly motivated nobel prize. Israel has had some pretty crap political leaders over ther past 60 years but Carter is nothing special, he wasnt a wonderfull president, today all he wants to do is hang out with terrorists. He is an anti semitic nobody and the sooner he disapears the better.
67. Carter is a FOOL
Brod ,   USA   (04.16.08)
Corrupted by Saudi money, Carter is making a fool of himself. Israel should kick him out for honoring the master terrorist Arafat and embracing HAMAS. Meanwhile, Bush should stop this senile from traveling the world and making a fool of himself and the USA.

Right ON!!!!!!
73. Arafat's War
David ,   New York   (04.16.08)
Arafat fought for the destruction of Israel, A second Holocaust against the Jews, and the popularization of terrorism the world over. If Carter thinks those are just causes maybe he should move to one of the 22 enlightened arab despotisms which all support Arafat's causes.

Leave it to a European, in this case a Norwegian, to praise the bigot known as Jimmy Carter, likely one of the worst presidents in American history. Why the idiots in Europe praise this incompetent peanut farmer is beyond me. Perhaps it's the same vile antisemitism that has existed in Europe for centuries. All one has to do is look at this history of Lutheran Christian doctrine to understand this hate against Jews. Go figure, Norway, land where they go and kill whales.. What else can one expect?
77. we all need peace
Hamid ,   Iran   (04.16.08)
I salute him for his hard work for acheving peace between Israelis and Pals
78. Carter's Tarnished Reputation
Ronen   (04.16.08)
Not only will his presidency be judged in history as an abject failure, now he is dissipating whatever goodwill he had generated from Camp David (one of the few good things accomplished during his presidency). He seems intent on completely destroying his legacy to the world and as well as within the Democratic party. Oh well, his loss.

Maybe people like Desmond Tutu don't know apartheid when they see it? Or maybe you're right and apartheid is when ethnic people are separated like separate roads or walls separating them. Well at least they can intermarry, oh wait, they can't.
83. arafat
Arafat ,   Antwerp, Belgium   (04.16.08)
Someone who praises arafat cannot claim he wants to afvance the cause of peace.

I honestly don't know what Desmond Tutu knows, but he is not the only authority on apartheid: Late last month, I went to hear Bishop Desmond Tutu speak at Boston’s Old South Church at a conference on “Israel Apartheid.” Tutu is a well respected man of God. He brought reconciliation between blacks and whites in South Africa. That he would lead a conference that damns the Jewish state is very disturbing to me. The State of Israel is not an apartheid state. I know because I write this from Jerusalem where I have seen Arab mothers peacefully strolling with their families – even though I also drove on Israeli roads protected by walls and fences from Arab bullets and stones. I know Arabs go to Israeli schools, and get the best medical care in the world. I know they vote and have elected representatives to the Israeli Parliament. I see street signs in Arabic, an official language here. None of this was true for blacks under Apartheid in Tutu’s South Africa. I also know countries that do deserve the apartheid label: My country, Sudan, is on the top of the list, but so are Iran, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. What has happened to my people in Sudan is a thousand times worse than Apartheid in South Africa. And no matter how the Palestinians suffer, they suffer nothing compared to my people. Nothing. And most of the suffering is the fault of their leaders. Bishop Tutu, I see black Jews walking down the street here in Jerusalem. Black like us, free and proud. Tutu said Israeli checkpoints are a nightmare. But checkpoints are there because Palestinians are sent into Israel to blow up and kill innocent women and children. Tutu wants checkpoints removed. Do you not have doors in your home, Bishop? Does that make your house an apartheid house? If someone, Heaven forbid, tried to enter with a bomb, we would want you to have security people “humiliating” your guests with searches, and we would not call you racist for doing so. We all go through checkpoints at every airport. Are the airlines being racist? No. Yes, the Palestinians are inconvenienced at checkpoints. But why, Bishop Tutu, do you care more about that inconvenience than about Jewish lives? Bishop, when you used to dance for Mandela’s freedom, we Africans – all over Africa – joined in. Our support was key in your freedom. But when children in Burundi and Kinshasa, all the way to Liberia and Sierra Leone, and in particular in Sudan, cried and called for rescue, you heard but chose to be silent. Today, black children are enslaved in Sudan, the last place in the continent of Africa where humans are owned by other humans – I was part of the movement to stop slavery in Mauritania, which just now abolished the practice. But you were not with us, Bishop Tutu. So where is Desmond Tutu when my people call out for freedom? Slaughter and genocide and slavery are lashing Africans right now. Where are you for Sudan, Bishop Tutu? You are busy attacking the Jewish state. Why? Simon Deng, a native of the Shiluk Kingdom in southern Sudan, is an escaped jihad slave and a leading human rights activist.
85. Great Man
Ray ,   US   (04.16.08)
Carter has the gnads to stand up against Israeli lies and genocide, and while I do feel Arafat was more interested in making his family rich, that doesn't negate the fact that Israel is no friend of the US, that Israel should be made to come into compliance what we expect from the rest of the civilized world.
86. Former President Carter
Roger K Spence ,   Emory, Texas USA   (04.16.08)
Please forgive the US for our former president's behavior. He does not speak for Americans. We stand by Isreal. Please find a reason to arrest him and keep him.
87. Nobel Peace my ass
Ari ,   USA   (04.16.08)
I can't believe he won the Nobel Peace award. The Nobel peace is bullshit anyways. The Dalai Lama also won that shit and he use to oppress his own tibetans. Dalai Lama believed in slaves. Carter is a Arab lover. Jew hater.
88. #84 very well said .

Syria, keep the nitwit. He seems to like the terrorists more than he does Americans.
90. Jimmy Carter
Michael ,   Oxford UK   (04.17.08)
It rather proves a point in the fact that Carter is obviously disliked by Israelis and jews in general. His crime? He wants to bring peace to the Middle East. As for Arafat, I see all the usual invented myths and slanders being repeated on this talkback. He wasn't particularly wealthy when he died and neither did he have AIDS, but what he did was to devote his life to trying to find a solution and bring peace. Where both Carter and Arafat went wrong was failing to understand that Israel isn't in the slightest way interested.
