1. there is no way Muslims did this
Miami Beach Mother ,   Miami Beach   (04.23.08)
We are constantly being harassed and assaulted on the streets by Hispanic Christians. It is typical to go to Publix in Miami Beach and to be pushed, hit and called a Christ killer by Hispanics. This is ever since the reinstatement of the Latin Mass. The Pope was here Monday and it does not surprise me that a synagogue was burned. This is the second one in 6 months. Also two sets of seminary girls were run over in hit and run accidents, one happened in October and one Dec 24. Miami has a Hispanic majority and with Chavez, Lula et al being openly anti Semitic, the effect in Miami is very strong.
2. Synagogues need to spray attics and wood beams with
Rivkah   (04.23.08)
No Burn Wood Guard with MIH that not only prevents burning, but protects from termites and mold. All the walls and ceilings should be painted with No Burn Plus paint and then the outside walls painted with a topcoat of regular outdoor paint. A No Burn Paint official told me that the few houses in the California fires last year that did not burn down when all those around them did were painted with No Burn Paint. This is so simple. Why suffer the tragedy of the loss of buildings from fires when that can be so easily prevented?
3. Antisemitic cartoon
Pat   (04.23.08)
Extraordinary to find an antisemitic cartoon attached to this article. The impulse to negatively stereotype 'the other' is obviously still alive and ticking.
4. what is there to say.....
Charles   (04.23.08)
come home where you belong, to Eretz Israel
5. Where does Charles belong?
Jo Jo ,   London   (04.23.08)
In the past synagogues in Petach Tikvah have also been desecrated and burned. Sorry to dampen your aliyah campaign, but the Israel of today is not what Jews have been yearning for the past couple of thousand years.
6. Rivka #4 - tell that to Chabad!!
Chaya ,   Bat Yam, Israel   (04.23.08)
7. Jew haters in israel
chabadnik ,   bet shemesh   (04.23.08)
Charles, Chabad does crutial work for Jews all over the world. Most of whom, who get re connected to their jewish roots find their way to israel for a visit, send their kids to schools here, and often buy property here. The problem is that when Jews do make aliya, they are exposed to the the most repulsvive anti religion propiganda in the world. Its so ugly right here in israel when dished out by secular Jews. First we need to stop hating the Jews in Israel so we can set an example for the rest of the world. Why does it take anti semitism to bring out our Jewsih identity?
8. Jews are under assault all over the world...
Al   (04.23.08)
Thanks to a week anti-semitic government in Israel. The anti-semites take their cues from the Kyke Kapos... Its as old as the hills. Were Israel governed by a proud Jewish government who does not put up with any crap from the Arabs, then every two bit anti-semite out there would be very careful. Seeing that Israel is governed by a bunch of pussies, then its open season on Jews.
9. To #5 You are just like the 10 Spies - Giving a Negative
David ,   Holon, Israel   (04.23.08)
Report of Israel and saying that the Exile is better than Eretz Yisrael. Guess what, you are the 21st century version of the spies, and guess what their punishment was?!!!
10. To #8, Amen, well said
Ben ,   US   (04.23.08)
11. #1.. blame yourself
Elchonon ,   Chevron   (04.23.08)
As one who's family lives in Florida, I own a handgun and have a concealed weapons permit. The jewish population refuses to purchase handguns etc.. and your to blame for any harassment. The law states I can draw my gun and shoot at anyone attempting to commit a felony.. rob, rape etc..
12. The Religion of Peace strikes again.
Jake   (04.23.08)
13. David , Holon, Israel
Jo Jo   (04.23.08)
It is a sin to live under Jewish rule before the moshiach redeems us. That is Jewish Law, the Jewish Law which also lauds those who dwell in the land. I therefore advise all Jews to dwell in the land and shun the Godless Zionist government.
14. Jo Jo- can you quote the relevant Halacha please?
LEE ,   NY, USA   (04.23.08)
15. #13 Where does Rambam say that? LOL! The Sin of The Spies!!!
David ,   Holon, Israel   (04.23.08)
Who gives a dang about the "Godless Zionist government", we are talking about dwelling in the land, SO DO IT NOW!!! Or you are throwing of the Yoke of Heaven.
16. #13 Where does Rambam, Baba Sali, Ovadia Yosef say that?
(04.23.08)
Maybe some Satmar Litvikish but not the Jews that lived in the Middle East.
17. Pretty disturbing.
Palestinian   (04.23.08)
May the hands of those who torched it burn in hell fire.
18. Torah Arks should be kept in SAFES
LEE ,   NY, USA   (04.23.08)
In my Chabad synagogue in NY the Ark doubles as a safe which is locked with a code and is fire-proof. Our Torah is the most valuable thing we have and it should be properly protected. Just as one keeps his valuables in a safe, the Torah should be treated with no less consideration.
19. Racist cartoon and the Whodunnit game
Daniel ,   NYC   (04.23.08)
Yes, Pat, you are correct. About a week ago, I emailed YNetNews' editorial staff and senior editors about the inherent racism in the "End Gaza" cartoons regularly paid for by Samson Blinded. They have yet to act and continue to post these horrific images and to take money from their creators. Might I suggest you email them as well? I don't know what else I can do to help YNetNews clean up its act before we end up having to start airing our own dirty laundry by exposing these ads for what they are: 21st century bigotry with a stamp of approval from one of our 3 biggest newspapers. As for the talkbackers playing "Whodunnit": you don't know who did it, and having lived in Miami Beach or not, or experienced antisemetism in the area or not, does not entitle you to point fingers without any facts. Let the police do their jobs, they are pretty darn good at finding these things out.
20. chabadnik ....., bet shemesh
Charles   (04.23.08)
staying in Miami is NOT the solution to your justified complaints tiyeh bari w kol tuv
21. #1 - Muslims recently vandalized a synagogue in Upstate NY
Scott ,   NY   (04.23.08)
what makes people think they wouldn't do it in Florida?
22. anti-semitism
Naomi K. ,   Israel   (04.23.08)
I don't know who did this, Moslems, Christians, or someone else, but the fact is that the Jewish population in the States and Europe is decreasing rapidly, and the Moslem population is increasing rapidly. The Moslems, especially, are anti-Jewish so we should expect more problems like this.
23. Sad
J K ,   NYC, USA   (04.24.08)
My friend lives in Miami Beach and goes to this shul. She said it is sad beyond belief. The Rabbi was on TV almost in tears. From what I understand, they are holding services on Friday evening on the lawn outside. You can actually help @ chabadonwheels.com There are lots of breakins in synagogues because you have thieves looking for gold and silver (the torah plate and finnials as an example). All shuls should wise up and buy a fireproof safe for the Torahs and install cameras outside. My brothers shul did this and caught neighborhood kids who threw rocks in the windows of the shul and spray painted the outside with grafitti. Boy, were they surprised to get caught.
24. This was an act of God
Talula ,   Tel Aviv   (04.24.08)
The haredi parasites are being punished for their homophobic ways.
25. Possibly Its Rabbi needs urgent Cash from Insurer
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (04.24.08)
26. As a Palestinian
Hussein ,   Ramla, Palestine   (04.24.08)
I have to admit that this is horrible. Not only is it a cowardly act, this is the very root of blind anti-semitism in the world today (even though one loses track when self-analyzing Jews such as John Mearsheimer, Stephen Walt and Noam Chomsky are also deemed "anti-Semitic"). That being said, I'm somewhat surprised at this sudden sense of outrage at the burning of a synagogue. The images of that one synagogue being picked apart in Gaza right after the disengagement comes to mind. Both these events have been the cause of much outrage. But then again, why is the Jews' selective memory forgetting the desecration, burning, and 'retransformation' of mosques in the Holy land that started in the early 1930s? Or the Ultra-Orthodox Jewish riots in 2000 that also damaged and desecrated several mosques in and around Jerusalem? Maybe you're not so much more civilized after all.
27. #26, Walt and Mearsheimer are not Jewish
Jake   (04.24.08)
and Ramla is not in "Palestine".
28. STOP SPECULATING! WAIT FOR ARREST & CONVICTION!
Moti Berg ,   Miami, FL, USA   (04.24.08)
Hey, people, you are like those messys in Israel who blamed religious Jews for bombing messy boy in Ariel. Stop ranting & speculating! Let cops conduct a formal investigation & present evidence to court for analysis. Until we know for sure who did thic crime, stop ranting! Better start patrols & watch over our shuls & institutions!

"But then again, why is the Jews' selective memory forgetting the desecration, burning, and 'retransformation' of mosques in the Holy land that started in the early 1930s?" Is that in relation to the Muft al Hussein's accusation that the Jews tried to burn down the Dome of the Rock mosque and tried to use doctored photos to "prove" it. "One always finds in Palestine Arabs who have been in the country only a few weeks or a few months...Since they are themselves strangers in a strange land, they are the loudest to cry: 'Out with the Jews!...Amongst them are to be found representatives of every Arab country: Arabs from Transjordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, the Sudan and Iraq. (Ladislas Farago, Palestine at the Crossroads (New York: Putnam 1937) p17 Arab MK, Abdul Darawshe: "There is no difference between one Palestinian and another. We are all Palestinians and we are all Syrian Arabs." Jerusalem Institute of Western Defence, Bulletin 3, August 15, 1997
30. To Hussein in Ramla
Kyle ,   Southpark, CO, USA   (04.24.08)
Maybe the reason Jews don't remember the events you cite is because they never occurred outside of your imagination. 1930's? When Arabs rioted and murdered Jews and destroyed synagogues. 2000? When Joseph's Tomb was desecrated and burned by rampaging Muslims? Sorry, no mosques were harmed during those times.
