Boblybo Gilobob ,   usa   (04.23.08)
Olmert go home if you dont want your country anymore. Just go home.
2. Golan
zznhl   (04.23.08)
We were promised "peace in our time" when we left Lebonon and we got the 2nd Lebonese war; when we gave away Gaza, we got double the terror, Kassam rockets etc; we gave up striking Iran to prevent its nuclear destruction of anything non-islamic (Israel, Europe and the US) in favour of "Diplomacy "- Is the same mistake going to be made again? "Ooops sorry" only applies to schoolgirls - not to the existance of the State of Israel!
3. Return Golan Heights To Syria
Simon ,   C.Town, South Africa   (04.23.08)
No Way !
4. No need for Iran nukes now
David ,   New York, USA   (04.23.08)
When syria could simply invade Israel from its strategic positions on the Golan once Israel relinquishes it in a so called "Peace" deal. But then, why is Iran building ballistic missiles capable of reaching the USA? I guess Israel is just their first target.
5. Transfering the chicken house door to the fox and the weasle
psalms 83 ,   Selah   (04.23.08)
We already know what the fox and weasles track record is ! They are getting thier chicken recipie book out right now.....
6. mr olmert,it is not yours to give, please resign
reuven ,   usa   (04.23.08)
i think god is angry with israel, that is why it made israel to have a foolish leader such as olmert, yosi beilin barak to lead israel to destruction.may god help us
7. We will give up Oldmerd first!
Wise Saba ,   Western Negev   (04.23.08)
8. Olmert agreed to concede Golan Heights
June ,   Ashkelon   (04.23.08)
Oh my goodness Olmert is now agreeing to concede the Golon Heights, what next? Is he going to give away the whole country? Well then, of course there will be peace because there won't be an Israel. It seems to me that Olmert would sell his own grandmother for five cents if he thought it would be good for him. Poor deluded man.
9. Unbelievable
lemar ,   uk   (04.23.08)
Israel retreated from Lebanon and Israel had a war that lasted a few weeks. Israel retreated from Gaza, and Israel had a war that so far has lasted over a year. Israel retreated from Golan and there will be no war as there will soon after be no Israel.
10. OLMERT: BREATHTAKING NAIVETY
Best israeli blog at ,   Israellycool.com   (04.23.08)
Simply unbelievable.
11. ...because it was so effective in the south.

12. Assad to Israel
Morris ,   Israel   (04.23.08)
Apparently you missed the other article that Assad is coming to Israel later in the year.
13. olmerts tactics
abraham ,   kuwait   (04.23.08)
its clear what olmert and his government are trying to do. they try to make peace with the north to keep the palestiniens alone in war with israel in the future. all this talk with abbas is only to make him complete this pa-game (without a real state)and keep him strong that he will win the next elections (westbank), and not hamas. that is what olmert is trying to achieve. but i dont think it will work.
14. olmert is selling israel to the highest bidders.
debra ,   usa   (04.23.08)
15. Olmert's on vacation in the north...
Millie ,   Israel   (04.23.08)
He should understand that if he had already given away the Golan, the Syrians would have been able to watch his every move at his Galilee guest house! So much blood and treasure has been spent to preserve this strategic and historical asset. What an irresponsible bastard. Shame on Olmert, Barak, Livni and the rest of this absolutely horrible government. New elections now!!
16. Like former PMs Rabin, Peres, Netanyahu & Barak
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (04.23.08)
This is one of the few times they got the question right: He was asked whether he was willing to declare – like former Prime Ministers Yitzhak Rabin, Shimon Peres, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak – that Israel would cede the Golan Heights for peace. Note the last 2 names in the list. These are the same people hoping to replace Olmert. Israel needs different leadership - one that is personally accountable to the public not to some party or Rabbi.
17. Don't be so hard on him, he is continuing the tradition
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (04.23.08)
Looking over the list, the past 5 Prime Ministers have either given away or offered to give away parts of Israel for peace. Unfortunately there is no Sadat or Hussein on the other sides (north, south, or east) to make it possible.
18. the guy has nothing better to do on Pesach!(end)
ecr   (04.23.08)
19. Olmert has lost tocuh with our land and our people!
Stephen ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (04.23.08)
How much of Olmert's comical politics can the people of Israel put up with? It is time for Olmert to be thrown out of the government! Instead of sitting in a zimmer in the North, he needs to be in his office thinking about the irrational decisions he has made in the past and the insane and irrational decisions he plans to make in the future. Olmert is jeapordizing the future of our ENTIRE country. Sometimes I wonder if he is even a Jew, based on the decisions he makes. TALK TO THE PEOPLE OLMERT! YOu ARE OUT OF TOUCH! GO HOME OLMERT!
20. It makes sense, the Golan is not Israeli Land Anyway
Johan Odin ,   Oslo, Norway   (04.23.08)
Israel should welcome the offer of peace for merely returning land that is not part of Israel to begin with. Israel's future lies in the Golan and it is running out of water very fast, so it better start making peace so it can negotiate with Arabs states a regional water plan, or it will shrivel and drop from the vine like a diseased fruit.
21. Golan is Isralei land Poster 20
John Silver ,   johnsilver52@yahoo.c   (04.23.08)
Land taken during was is many times added to a countries borders, especially so when said country attacked the country to begin with that added the land as Syria did. Israel returned land to Egypt after making peace that was conquered from the '73 war and if Syria really wants peace am sure that Israel will return the Golan to them.
22. #20
israeli ,   israel   (04.23.08)
If Syria had not been so stupid as to invade Israel in 1973 it would not have lost the Golan. Syria, just like Egypt, lost the 1973 war. Those defeated in a war that they themselves started are in no position to make peace offers, or impose conditions on the victor. Vae victis! They are lucky Israel didn't sack Damascus.
23. Likud gave up Gaza & Labor gave back Lebanon
Eric ,   Tel Aviv   (04.23.08)
Although it is currently Olmert offering concessions, it was Sharon who gave back Gaza as part of the Likud while Barak gave back Lebanon.
24. Olmert is damaging Israel
Paolo Ortenzi ,   Italy   (04.23.08)
I've been, in the past, on the Golan Heights, and I read a lot about Israel recent history. Just make a comparison on how Israel has as a land surface and HOW BIG is the surface of the Syrian territory: Syria don't need the Golan as much as I don't need the tips of my hair. Peace agreement? Oh yes. But WITHOUT giving away one inch of a strategically important, fertile, water rich land of the Ramat Ha'Golan, for which many Israelis died to conquer and to keep it. I DO NOT want to see again Syrian howitzer on the edge of he Kinneret...
25. The people of Israel are fools! Why else allow this to occur
Jack ,   USA   (04.23.08)
You are to blame, the people of israel who wdo not Demand elections now!, who have foresaken Benjamin Netanyahu for Olmert and his defeatest left. You too Shas are to blame forr every israeli who has died because you are remaining in this govt. because it serves your selfish interests. Don't you get it, left, defeatest and Dem mentality are weakness and your enemies are getting stonger daily. Fools
26. Golan Heights
Toppi Edelstam ,   Stockholm   (04.23.08)
WRONG!!!!!!!! sorry, Mr. Olmert.
27. #20

why are norweigians so anti israel in general?
28. If it is true,it is an important step for peace
Mateo ,   Spain   (04.23.08)
Real peace on middle east need steps as this.
29. I don't have a problem with giving Golan back to Syria
Merrill ,   New York, NY   (04.23.08)
If, and only if: 1. Golan is 100% demilitarized - no Syrian soldiers, no equipment, nothing. 2. Israel keeps 100% access to drinking water 3. Syria stops aiding Hezbollah and other Israeli enemies - one documented violation of this clause and Israel has a right take Golan back and keep it forever Since achievement of all three clauses is impossible in the real world, Israel shouldn't give back Golan Heights. Mark
30. #9 we believe you; Israel suvives by war
observer   (04.23.08)
Israel is given the chance to survive without making a prior war. To retreat you have to wage war first; the consequences depend on the first, not the second.
