if it cedes the Golan to the Arab horde. Just by putting it on the table in exchange for some hypothetical end to Syria terror, Olmert ensures even more Syrian terror in the future. Why not? If hosting Mashaal and supplying Hezbollah gets Israel talking about giving up the Golan, more terror sponsorship and activity will seal the deal. 1,000 years of de facto war with Syria is safer than giving up the Golan for a variety of reasons.

Golan Heights are mandatorian territory as decided by the League of Nations by its resolutions and maps the 24th of July 1922. England, the Mandatory of Palestine, in a treacherous breach of article 5 of the resolutions, ceded the Golan Heights to France, the mandatory of Syria in 1923. The British sole interest was to secure Mosul's oil fields to Irak. By international law, Syria cannot make any claim about the Golan. Israel's decision to impose its laws on the Golan Heights on December 14, 1981, RIGHTED the WRONG that was commited by the British in March 1923! Pretending to cede the Golan, that is considered as Israeli property by international law, is commiting an act of high treason. Of course, to defend the Golan case, you have to prove it by historical documents, mainly the League of Nations resolutions of 1922, that if implemented, would have prevented partly or totally the Shoah. Rather commit suicide than showing those documents hidden in a conspiratorial of silence.

We will throw in all the Labour, Meretz, & Kadima MK's. As an added incentive, we can throw in Shas MK's, Peace Now members, all of the NGO's that operate in Israel, & about half of our journalists. This is a very fair deal. After all, Syria already hosts a whole collection of our enemies - now, they will have a complete set. And we will keep the Golan.

First & foremost I regard myself as both a simple Jew & a loyal citizen of Israel. Yes, I am also observant and live in an area that you may well find disputable. I enjoy the company of Jews from every religious & political spectrum. Each has something unique. I also actively support our security efforts. Tell me if you can...Does membership of the 'left' equate to reversing the efforts of brave Jews that went before us, including staunch socialists who sacrificed their very lives so that we could have our own country in a defendable land? Does being non-observant equate to giving away a major symbol of Israel, Jerusalem? Does shrinking Israel, including aiming to destroy our homes in the process, equate to victory of your policies? Do you really support a 'Master of Surrender' as our PM? Does all the above equate to realistic long lasting peace with our enemies? Lastly, if sanity prevails...what will it cost to retake Gaza, set up another buffer zone in Southern Lebanon, attempt to stop rockets fired upon the homes of Tel Aviv from the Shomron (West Bank) in inevitable Hamas hands etc., etc.,etc? I appeal to you to stop this ridiculous campaign to defeat the right who are your brothers, as well as to tell the 'right' to equally reach out to Jews with other political / religeous ideas. There is only way we will survive & that is 'Together' on one 'Land'...Am Yisroel Chai!

don't we ever learn, pulling out of lebanon - what did we gain? (another war and cocky hizbollah), pulling out of gaza: another frontier daily there, holding us hostage in our lives with a cocky hamas, now you wanna give back the golan resulting in what? the syrians shelling us all over again? it won't be that trio firing at us from all directions, no, we are doing that to ourselves...how many had to die to fight up the hill on the golan? wake up and smell the coffee! I've lived with them long enought o understand their orientation of mindset - it won't end there, only when the last of us is in the mediterranean will they be happy! but the again the rate this is going we won't need to wait long. what should we give next? yerusalayim and after gush dan, well done!

Syria declared independence (for the first time) in 1936, and was officially recognized in 1944. Slightly older than Israel. So one can equally state that Syria was part of Northern Israel for over 2000 years, ever since the Romans created the Syria-Palestina province. And while we are talking about Palestine, let me remind you that the British gave away almost 90% of it to Jordan, which immediately became Judenrein. I am certain that Arabs residing in that part of Palestine are free to exercise any civil and religious rights in that part of Palestine. So what pains you is that Jews have the gall to maintain their claim to 10% of Palestine (wherein 20% of the population is made up of ArabsA which are duly represented in Paraliament, where Arabic is the second official language, and where Jews are banned from the Temple Mount) ?

Without going completely hysterical about this and calling Olmert names like "traitor" and accusing him of treason which are both stupid, let's get something straight. Let's look at how the Galilee and the North of Israel has been neglected over the years by both left and right wing governments. The National Unity Government in the '80's poured all the money allocated for the Galilee into Samaria and Gaza. The needs of the people of the North have been totally neglected. Not enough hospitals, no railway east of the coast. There are no MRI or Chemotherapy facilities north of Haifa so people from the Golan and the North have to travel for hours. In some cases they have to do this for weeks. Israel has a bad record of only remembering anything north of Hadera when Hezbollah attacks us! How many of you even know where the Golan Heights are and how many, particularly those from outside of Israel who love to tell us how to run our little country, have ever been to the heights? The fact is that the "Heights" ARE a strategic necessity to our survival because anyone with a modicum of grey matter in that thing they call a head will realize that we can NEVER trust the Syrians. It is all very well for Hillary Clinton to say that the USA will destroy Iran if she attacks Israel but that will only be after the first Iranian/Syrian missiles fall here. So, the answer is NO to leaving the Golan but there might be room to withdraw a bit. Those of you who have been to the Golan will know that there is a large Druze Community there who align themselves with Syria. Why not cede that part of the Heights back to Syria with the Druze who so badly want to be part of it? In any case, there MUST be a referendum on this or any other "returning of land" deal. An election is stupid because the status quo will be maintained and even if Kadima loses the worst thing that can happen to the North of Israel, the Golan Heights included, is a Likud Government under Benjamin Netanyahu!

With infrred and other guided weapons control of the heights more important than ever.SURRENDER of the heights will forefeit control of the coastal roads and the North, the north will be isolated surrounded by hezbouleh and syria on 3 sides. Regaining the heights will be very difficult in a war.Any mil. planner with a fraction of a brain knows the importance of the heights. Israel will be more vulnerable than in 67. W/ missiles etc all Israel is exposed the airfields will be cratered in any war and the AF grounded

I live on the Golan. Our kibbutz has a view over looking the Kinneret. I'm fully aware of the strategic value, perhaps more than anyone in this forum. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'd do it for a real peace. By real peace I mean neighborly relations, trade, and cooperation between all parties. However, I know who are partners are, I've seen the results of other peace treaties. It's true you can only make peace with an enemy, but you can only make peace with an honorable enemy. So I'm not packing my bags yet. Perhaps I'll add a pergola to the house.

It is time the Knesset starts impeachment proceedings. A leader has no right to compromise Israel's liberated biblical and historic territory and national security interests to enemy state or any entity without the knowledge and approval of the nation and its institutions. Such a leader should resign and a new election be effected to address the harm done to the nation. It is the duty and responsibility of the government to protect and defend the nation and country and not assist enemy state to chip away its territory through usurpation, manipulation, deception and compromise.

Israel will not be safe without the Golan Heights. Syria needs to be compensated for Golan to feel whole. Why not have some impartial parties calculate a fair value for the Golan. It would be nice if the US or some other parties agree to pay for this.

If there is any party in this coalition that is driving Israel to its destruction, that party should leave immediately, in order to have new elections and a responsible and strong government. I'm willing to cede the west bank to the pals, it hurts but I think it's necessary, but the Golan is out of the question. That's our buffer zone from the Syrians!!! there is our water resources for the future generations!!
