31. If you want to respect the dead and their memory start
Al   (04.24.08)
protecting the living. We need living breathing Jews,,,The dead have no more worries..Their job has been done..our job is to protect eachother without pissing on eachothers head.
32. 18 Soeren: I liked your original insight - thank you

but the worst is the pointless speech

Keren, I would need to write a book to state all those issues, there are just so many. But if your serious on the subject you can email me on volvigoldberger@hotmail.com
35. 28, Danny , a nonsensical response.
S Judah ,   London   (04.25.08)
And before you start - yes my wife's side of the family were decimated in the holocust. The Rabbi is saying that there is a Jewish way to mourn and elevate the deceased, ask anyone who has lost a relative. And two minutes of silence isn't it.
36. Well I am surprised since when do we Jews have a Pope Rabbi
issuing edicts 4 us ,   2 follow!   (04.24.08)

Rabbi, I dont think you know the first thing about spirituality and connecting with god...because if you did you would not publish such a foolish suggestion.
38. True Silence is what we should be combatting not promoting
rh ,   Modiin   (04.25.08)
Inner reflection can be valuable, but outward expression should be chsen over it. For too long too many have been silent over the shoah, many of us have heard stories of those coming out of camps who have never spoken of their ordeal. Of countries, leaders and popes whosaid nothing to stop the Shoah We should all scream on top of our lungs during the minute

i like your post but i think it must not be under the word -religion - becouse the spirit is from god that god give it and sure take it . and with the spirit we know god the lord and the creator .but as the funs of life may busy or involve this spirit god send the profits and now when there are no profits there must be people with high spiritual sence not to lead but to reremember who is forget .. sure these is not presented only in rabis or the religouse men .. from my history i know in the same year when muhammad was born some enemy came to mecka with elephants to destroy the old holy house .. which was full of idols .the grandfather of muhammad who was the leader in mecka said [this house has a god to protect it .. this story was known after 40 years when muhammad had his request from the same god that his grandfather asked him to protect the old mosque
40. There is a huge difference
HH ,   Jerusalem   (04.25.08)
between a black hat and standing at attention. The gentiles no longer wear the garments espoused by the hareidim. So for hundreds of years already, it ceased being a gentile custom. Standing at attention and laying wreaths is STILL practiced by gentiles, so therefore constitutes a gentile practice that Jews should avoid. So what if people are doing it for 50-60 years; Judaism has been around a lot longer than that!! Stop dissing your own heritage and embracing foreign practices. Honor the dead "the Jewish way."
41. infallible rabbi; unlike G-d
(04.25.08)
Hagigah 27a. States that no rabbi can ever go to hell. Baba Mezia 59b. A rabbi debates God and defeats Him. God admits the rabbi won the debate.
42. These coments
Jakov   (04.25.08)
were cruel, callous and really unbecoming of someone in this man's position.
43. Judaism doesn't need Rabbis - demands respect for the fallen
Sheila ,   Jerusalem Israel   (04.26.08)
44. religious fool!
cll ,   Tampa USA   (04.26.08)
how Israeli's put up with this kind of drivel is a mystery to me. Memorials are for the living stupid, to HONOR the dead and their efforts.
45. The Rabbi is right
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (04.27.08)
It has nothing to do with our customs to put flower wreaths in our graves. It is a gentile habit and there is no reason to copy. Why to copy such a thing? We are used to light candles and pray and that's it! About the sirens ,I disagree:It is meaninful and should be done along with prayers.
46. High time
Ben-Yehudah ,   K'far Tapu'ah   (04.27.08)
B"H It's high time Rabbis started speaking out about the truth and about battling the un-Jewishness of the current state. Let's make a Jewish one. http://esseragaroth.blogspot.com
47. Look at his clothes
Ofer from Ofer   (04.27.08)
This Sephardi Rabbi is dressed in clothes far from what his grandparents wore. What could be more goyish than a suit tie and hat? Did his wife wear a white wedding gown when she got married? Another goyish custom. Tell him to have some respect for the society that supports him (in the old days being a rabbi was a non-paying position. They also had real jobs) and that army that defends him instead of spitting in our faces. I advise him to study very clearly what happened to the Catholic clergy in France during the revolution when people became sick of their attitudes.
48. #47 If there is a hatefull attitude,it is yours!
Keren ,   Israel-SP   (04.27.08)
Stop being a" Yahne",looking at how others dress. You are a small soul, that all!Look at your own little life and you'll be doing better. Sick one!
49. It is a time for remembering and contemplation- you missed
elianna ,   Jerusalem   (04.28.08)
the point. Psalms etc are important- but not in place of hetboninut. think again.
50. An employee?
Russell Cohen ,   JHB (ZA)   (04.30.08)
Is this contemptible little rabbi an employee of the state? I say let him stand to attention or lose his job.
