Rights groups: Israel violating international law     Aviram Zino
31. #19 Richard. Israelis have been dismembered by Palestinians
example the lynching in Rafah, where Palestinians literally tore apart two Israelis, limb by limb, and they proudly held their livers aloft for all to see. These Israelis had been taken into Palestinian police custody... and were handed to the lynch mob. The case you speak of is only on the B'tselem site, and the police weren't jailed, nor was the case against them proven. The police did have to use force against terrorist infiltrators into the city... and that's when the allegations were made, the matter looked into, and the police vindicated.

32. Gaza's not occupied, Israel doesn't have to provide anything
When will people understand that Gaza, under Hamas rule, is completely independent. They've received hundreds of billions of dollars in aid. They WILL NOT build an infrastructure, they WILL not build homes, hospitals, schools, water purifiers, electricity stations, nor sewage treatment plants. BUT THEY SPEND BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON WEAPONS, MUNITIONS, BOMB AND ROCKET MAKING FACILITIES, ETC. They want to continue being the world's welfare queens. ISRAEL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR GAZA!
Nannette ,   London   (04.29.08)
33. palestinians are violating >human< law!
(04.29.08)
34. #29 No
No They do not have more than you do. How obscene your remark is. Are you subjected to daily raids, sonic booms, bulldozings, missile attacks? Is London surrounded by an occupying army? Are you prevented from entering or leaving London unless a soldier from a foreign army gives you permission? Are Londoners killed in their hindreds? Are you without work, without dignity without a future? Are you trapped in London, unable to leave?
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.29.08)
35. What laws?
Perhaps these human rights groups would care to list the specific portions of specific laws that Israel's actions have violated? Being a student of international law and a former instructor of the Laws of War, I am not aware of any violation here, but I could be wrong. Show me!
Brent ,   Lawrence, USA   (04.29.08)
36. #32 Independent?
How is Gaza independent? Who controls the borders? Who controls the airspace? Who controls the coast? How can Gaza trade or how can people leave or enter at will. That surely is independence. And hundreds of billions spent on weapons? Where do you get those figures from? If the Palestininas have hundreds of billions to spend on weapons how come they are fighting with AK47s and home made fireworks? Surely hundreds of billions would buy Apaches, F16s US tanks and missiles, chinese APGs, French ground to air missiles, Russian corvettes . . . . Then it would be a fair fight of course.
Invicta ,   Europa   (04.29.08)
37. No. 28
Yes, they do live in Israel, but it's a world away from places like Sderot and Ashkelon. Also, the majority of the so-called human rights activists are primarily Ashkenazi leftist elites with a racist disdain for the inhabitants of those besieged border towns, most of whose families are originally from the Middle East and North Africa and therefore understand the Arab mentality better than anybody. As far as "looking around Gaza" what you apparently aren't aware of is that when Gaza was turned over to the Palestinians, it had a thriving infrastructure with greenhouses that were providing jobs for Palestinian workers. But, instead of taking advantage of what had been left for them, they trashed the whole goddamn place and then blamed Israel for their plight. That's why a lot of the "bigots" and "ignoramuses" you refer to have had it up to here with the constant whining on the part of people who elected terrorists to run the show.

38. #32 Gaza is not occupied.
Beit Iba Checkpoint (entrance to Nablus), Thursday, 28.2.08 Observers: Shoshana Z, Biria L, Nina S (reporting) 08:50 – a quiet morning. Few vehicles in line to enter. Passage is fast. There is a dog and minder. At the entrance to Nablus we meet a man, who tells us that at Jit (on his way from Sara to his job in Kfar Sava (in Israel), at 04:45, a soldier stopped him, took his ID card and work permit and left... Though he waited two hours, they did not return his papers. It seems that it was forbidden for him to leave Saara to Jit. Finally he gave up and continued to Beit Iba and, at the checkpoint, asked for help. Now he has waited more than two hours for the matter to be clarified. 09:30 – we are told that the ID is on its way, and will arrive within quarter of an hour. After 40 minutes it is still on its way. The man works in Kfar Sava and lives during the week in Qalqiliya. Yesterday, he travelled from Qalqiliya to his home in Sara to take part in his six year old daughter’s celebration for achieving distinction at school, and today he must return ton work. For this he is being "punished" by nerve-wracking runaround and the loss of a day’s work. Anyone living in Sara and wanting to come out in the direction of Qalqiliya early in the morning – the only way to do so is in a private taxi at a cost of 70 shekels.

39. #32 Does this happen in London?
Rank: First sargent Unit: Givati brigade Place of incident: Gaza They blew up that area? Yes, it was exploded. The story is that we had to evacuate 4000 people. Did you see Shindler's list? When they evacuated the ghetto? although you have to make a thousand distinctions, it was an amazing picture. Really amazing, you see thousands of people. They pass in amored vehicles and big loud speakers shouting at them in Arabic, passing out leaflets, a special unit passes almost house to house and evacuates everybody, without shooting, nothing. But 4000 people, you can imagine. Those were very big buildings simply, the first thing that comes into your head is Shindler's list. You see thousands of people with small children. How were they evacuated? How were they evacuated? They simply told them to go east. Just take everything and go east. 4000 people. In the middle of the night. You just see children, old people, women, all crammed into cars...on foot. Nothing, nothing an amazing sight....it just gives you the chills...as if, I just couldn't...I just...I just....you can't compare, but it was just like in the movie...ofcourse, you know it isn't the same thing because you're not a Nazi and you're not killing them out of hatred or something. You're even doing it for their own good, so that they don't get hurt from the explosives, you understand. But I can't help but not compare and not think about it.
Richard ,   London UK   (04.29.08)
40. INVICTA ... STOP THE ROCKETS AND ALL WILL BE WELL
Ahhh but you can't . You can only rant on about Israel this and Israel; that. Go and tell your barbarians when they stop playing with rockets they can live like humans .. otherwise don't expect anyone except deranged Leftist anti Semites to care one bit.

41. These groups are not for human rights
Just because the members of these groups describe themselves as for human rights does not mean that is what they represent. Although some of the members of these groups may really think that they are doing something for a noble cause, most are simply political motivated by left-wing causes and have an animus towards Israel. Unfortunately, many of the members are radical and are, in effect, traitors to Israel. When demonstrating, they love to use catch phrases such as "violation of international law" or "apartheid" as headline grabbers. Once again, just because they say something is a violation of international law does not mean that their claims are true. In the case of the Israeli "human rights" (for all except Israelis) protest groups, they are uniformly leftist, unsympathetic to real security needs of Israel, and see the world in black and white where the good guys are victimized by the occupation. That Israel left Gaza does not matter to these people because Israel still tries to shield its citizens from terror by blocking access to Israel. Rockets launched against Sderot are never protested by these people as violations of international law because, to their cause, terrorizing Jews is a "legitimate weapon against the occupation". These groups do not visit Israelis who have been wounded and maimed by Palestinian violence but love to accuse Israel of not attending to sick and wounded Palestinians. In a free country such as Israel, these protests must be tolerated as long as they are peaceful. I'd love to see them demonstrate for more governmental assistance for the children of Sderot. Even more, I'd love to see a show of good faith by Palestinians protesting suicide bombing of civilian targets and the launching of rockets against Sderot. Maybe in the next millenium.

42. more Human Rights 'nonsense'
Route 443, Tuesday 15.1.08, am Observers: Tamar B, Anat S (reporting) 05:00 - 06:15 On Route 443, five minutes from Modi’in and the communities of Maccabim and Reut, in the freezing cold of morning, starting at 05:00, the IDF brings together six conscript soldiers and 600 Palestinian workers, holders of permits to build the State of Israel. Under the indifferent eyes of hundreds of Israeli drivers, who pass down the road without a glance, the escalation flourishes. From 04:00 the workers crowd the area, hoping to be the first to pass and then start their day’s work. They light fires to warm a little, and crowd around the flames. A 15 meter (45 foot) long roof built to give waiting protection against the elements, but barely sufficient for a few people, stands empty. In its place, a magnometer (metal detector) at one end, and at the other a line of Palestinians under the cold sky. By the magnometer sometimes two soldiers stand, listening to its beeps. At the other end of the roof, two soldiers on high concrete barriers (a meter above the ground) check the validity of the workers’ documents. If it was not yet clear who was the conqueror, along comes a creative officer and raises his soldiers even higher. Now the Palestinians have to stand on tiptoe to hand their IDs to the Occupier. Now the balance of power is even clearer! Seems that the check is over, but no, the soldier at the end of the line whose task it is to defend the soldiers doing the inspections, has another role: to poke into the workers’ nylon bags. Yes, that’s right, to check... The wait lasts an hour, in the pre-dawn cold, an hour of standing in one spot without moving, and the soldiers maintain the line. Who in the IDF invented this humiliating procedure? Lines and waiting in the bitter cold, without shelter, in slow and ineffective checks? And who is responsible for it today? This is our enlightened and moral army... And who are the civilians who see (or don’t want to see)? Some 60,000 people live today in Modi’in, Maccabim and Reut, a "quality" population, excellent schools, good pupils, but five minutes from their homes, before dawn and under the cover of darkness, the disgrace occurs. Jewish mothers whose sons serve in these places, go out and see if they are defending or condemning – see what their commanders send them to do for three years. And you, the drivers who flash by on the road in warmed cars, pleasant music on your radios – take a look at what is happening, perhaps stop for a moment to absorb what the IDF is doing in your names.
Richard ,   London UK   (04.29.08)
43. Richard, stop the nonsense
Again, Modi'in is not Gaza. It is Israel proper. For such a staunch Israel basher, I would have expected a bit of intellectual integrity honesty: in your TB no #39 you seem to have forgotten to copy-paste this little fragment that puts the entire story under a different light altogether: Description: When there was that infiltration into Netzarim, when two (male)soldiers and one girl soldier, remember? When a terrorist inflitrated an army post in Netrarim. So they blew up two huge buildings and a police station. Because they blew up two buildings of 15-20 stories with a ton of explosives, so the whole nieghborhood had to be evacuated. The whole nieghborhood, it was an upscale neighborhood, and in the rich Palestinian neighborhoods there is one rule, they don't shoot. Because if they shoot, then their home will be destroyed.Palestinians, Arabs are like Arabs, worry about their own ass. It was a nieghborhood of all the corrupt Palestinian Authority people. It was a nieghborhood, what can say, if you've ever been in north Tel Aviv, it's the same.Villas and new cars.It wasn't Gaza at all, I should only have such things. Huge houses, Villas, of course they didn't shoot at us even one bullet from there.

44. #36
let's see now: The AK47's is a very reliable assault rifle used by East European countries during the Cold War and I believe it is still standard issued weapon of the Russian army. The "homemade fireworks" cost 500 Euros each. They kill and maim people and destroy property. How would you feel if a couple of them were to land on you Sunday dinner table? Over 7000 Qassams have been launched into Israel since the year 2000. That's three and a half million Euros literally burnt on Qassams. Add to that the rifles, bullets, suicide vests, RPG's, plus maintaining the entire Hamas terrorist organization, the Al-Aqsa brigades, Islamic Jihad and who knows what other terror groups operate in Gaza. Nobody works, but the population doubles every 15 years. How come? Someone (through donations disguised as aid) is funding Palestinian terror. Yes, that's a lot of money over the years. Think what Gaza would have looked like had all that money been invested in infrastructure and all those healthy young men parading through the streets of Gaza brandishing their AK47's and RPG's been made to work.

48. Cowards
These rights groups only criticize Israel because its a democracy and adhere to human rights far more than the Palestinians. These groups would fear for their lives if they ever criticized Hamas, PLO etc.. for the inherent lack of rights they outwardly don't allow. Coward and Hypocrites.

49. Invicta and richard
Sorry ,We're not falling for it not this time. For 10 years from 1990 to 2000 the Palestinians had my support. Then the second uprising happened and the blogging age.Now information about brainwashing and daily rocket attacks against Israel has come to light.Since 2000 i have withdrew any support for any Palestinian cause. They are bringing it upon themselves by not renouncing terrorism, dismantling both Hamas and the PA who arent working for the good of the people. They continue to allow themselves to be manipulated by extremists.
joshua ,   canada   (04.30.08)
50. Human rights activism or Anti-Semitism ?
It looks like there is no limit to hypocrisy. Israel is defending itself against the continuous barbarian attacks of the Palestinians, but some organization which declare that they care about “human right” blame Israel for defending its citizens. If analogue to saying that the reaction of US to the barbarian act of 11 September means violating human rights... And furthermore, these organizations should be condemned for their anti-Semitism. If the human rights would have been their object, they will certainly ask UN for reestablishing the mandate regime on the Palestinian people, as they have proved that they are not capable to run a state, and instead they run a terror syndicate.
