Lebanese army threatens force to stop Hizbullah    AFP
1. Lebanon
If Lebanon fight now was far away there would be no direct concern to Israel. But this is situation is extremely dangerous. We have next door Now no Gov. in charge with a tourist style UN presence. And a Mr. Olmert with 50% approval. This situation is not tolerable. Security and realism...must prevail. Shalom from Texas Alberto

2. Same old
Same old sectarian war, this time instigated by Iran/Syria. Let them blood let as they wish, since they seem to see life as quiet boring without some sort of a fight.Lebanon is a good example of so called "arab unity"
Ivri   (05.12.08)
3. I hope the UN sends them a sternly worded letter
That will fix everything. Well almost everything. They should also blame the Jews.

4. Hizbullah has now lost all legitimacy
"Even the Israelis didn't do this to us," said one elderly Druze woman in the town of Shwayfat. "They (Hizbullah) came into our homes, terrified our children and broke everything." Here is what the Lebanese have to deal with: a bunch of cruel animals and liars who had promised NEVER to use their arms against the Lebanese people. Hizbullah has now lost all legitimacy. They may win with their arms and cruelty but they have lost big time as far as the trust of the Lebanese people is concerned.

5. Lebanon is no more
With the Army refusing to act, Hezbollah is the defacto government of Lebanon. The expulsion of the Christians will shortly follow and Israel will not rescue them this time.

6. "We didn't start the fire"
Israel obviously didn't start this fire, but the fact that it's burning is worrisome. Isn't there some way to throw water on it?

7. I wonder...
Does anyone think Lebanon's PM has considered calling his neighbor Israel for a little help? King Hussein did this in 1970 and he kept his country from falling apart. I wonder if Saya-nara is keeping that in mind.

8. Lebanon made the bed. Now it must lay in it.
I don't pity Lebanon. The Lebanese let Hizbollah virtually take over Shia areas and let their terrorists operate within the their country. Lebanon seceeded its southern border to Hizbollah and let them attack Israel without provokation. The Lebanese let Hizbollah form a country within a country and openly assasinated Lebanese politicians who didn't tout the party line. Hizbollah also teamed up with Syria - a country which openly calls for a "Greater Syria" which includes Lebanon. AND NOW, I am supposed to feel sorry for the Lebanese? Please. You made the bed. Lie in it.

9. "not even the Israelis do this to us..."
Israel should take that as a backhanded compliment. These Hezbollah animals can win a media war against Israel, but not against their own people.

11. #8, #10 shame on you
..there are people there who are resisting against superior power of Hezbolla.. They are shelled by Katyushas and 120mm mortars, and still they are shooting back. It is despicable the West don't offer help to the people of Lebanon trying to resist Iranian occupation. There are 15000 European peacekeepers, with tanks and flotillas - or this force is only used to protect Hezbolla from Israeli retaliation? Who is ruling France and Italy, maybe also Nasrallo??? Great hope is that Hezbolla will get all this back - IEDs, sniper fire, ambushes - and eventually full scale surge by Western forces, that will finish these cannibals forever. But for now.. It is still 1939..

12. To all Non-Shia Lebanes:: Do you need help of US or IDF?
Don't worry, both of them will not send any soldiers to rescue you from Hezbollaha...You all along said and Sinora still saying even after getting blows from Hezbollah that Israel is enemy!! Get a life!!!

First im Lebanese then Christian and i would like to tell you and all the others that we don't want any help from US, IDF or whoever because we know you well. Its better to get help from hell-in case needed- but listen to me Hizbullah is Lebanese and those people are my fellow and im proud to be wiyh them in the same country. NO they r not animals (they have beaten IDF as i remember), i totaly support the Lebanese opposition which Hizbullah is a part. I agree that whats happening is a shame for us as Lebanese but we can solve it between each other. my message to all counties in the world is to leave us in peace and im shure we will not have any problem.

14. 13 Maroun the Dhimmi
Are you proud by torching newspapers, TV stations, besieging airport? Are you proud by killers of Hariri and others? The poster of Bashar Assad put on the wall on top of the Hariri posters by SSNP - tells everything. It's a confession, what might be more clear. Hesbolla keeps mad dogs of Amal and SSNP to play good cop/bad cop. This scum will intimidate you by night and by day you are proud by their "divine" masters. Anyway, enjoy your bloody hummus.

15. #13, who cares?
"First im Lebanese then Christian and i would like to tell you and all the others that we don't want any help from US, IDF or whoever because we know you well. Its better to get help from hell-in case needed- " Guess what, you're right. You're on your own now, in the quagmire. No one asked Israel for help, and Israel isn't offering. But don't be sad if, when you decide you are sinking too deep into the quagmire to ask "the Israeli enemy" for help, all you get is silence.

18. On Volatile Lebanon
I agree with the poster who headlined that Lebanon is no more. It's been getting like that for the last 20 years or so. The end game of the dissolution may take one or more of these forms. 1)Hizbullah takes the area south of Litani, while Siniora camp takes the rest. This is better known as stutus quo. It's only a matter of time before this arrangement is finished. 2)Hizbullah takes over all of Lebanon. Highly dangerous situation that requires intervention. An islamic replublic of Lebanon cannot be. Ever. 3)Complex Partition. Shiites take West Beirut, Maronites exclusively take East, Sunnis flee to eastern half of city at first and then move to other areas of north Lebanon. Hiz stays in the south, while weak government composed of fragile coalition between Sunnis & Maronites out of East Beirut runs the rest. Can it get messier..oh yes it can. 4) The land grab Hiz takes over Lebanon and Syria then decides to go in an make a land grab for all of Lebanon. Israel would not really have a choice but to remove the threat. The West could also become involved in this case as well as many UN troops come from Western countries. The trouble with Lebanon is, that one cannot tells what it will do, or not do next.

22. The Sad Cedars of Lebanon
When all the fighting between all the different factions in Lebanon cease. There still will be standing the tall Cedars of Lebanon some who are 1500 years old. This was a poll in a Lebanese newspaper. Will justice prevail in Lebanon.32 %said when hell freezes over.29% thought definitely.22% said probably not. 10% can't say.6% most likely.

24. Lebanon?
Wait a minute, didn't the spanians, australians, germans and so many other countris called "We are all hizbullah" while the 2nd war? Well, now it your time again to go to streets and be part of it!!! I really do not feel any pitty for any lebanese. You get right now what you wanted: you justified hizbullah, you have no missing enemy as Israel was for you, now you have to deal with the monsters you supported....bye bye

25. Its Lebanon
To all who care or hate us (i think most of u) its Lebanon, go read the Old testimony, Bible and Torah or even Talmud u will better understand whats Lebanon. I do understand your feelings towards us. may be some of u feel pity for us, we don't need it since we are not weak and im sure most of u feel happy which is good to keep satisfying yourself. We want to live in peace, we like a stable border with Israel but the problems came always from Israel. We don't want to destroy Israel (i think we can't) but tell your goverment to admitt the existance of Lebanon who is not the replacement of Palestine. hope all of us live in peace.

you wrote "We want to live in peace, we like a stable border with Israel but the problems came always from Israel. " It is amazing that even in times where you have only problems among you, you still blame Israel foe every problem you have. Israel has always seen Lebanon as a country but you prefered to buy hate against jews. If you would really have wanted peace you would have recognized Israel as Egypt and Jordanian did....that is the only pitty. Bye Bye
