Angry yachtsmen blame Egypt for ruining sailing event    Ahiya Raved
1. What a scum of a country.
It´s easier for Gazan terrorists to transit through Egyptian soil with a deadly baggage than for an honest Israeli yatchman.
Uzziel   (05.20.08)
2. Egypt
Oh , yes ! we have a "peace" treaty with Egypt ? or am i wrong ?
bar ,   Israel   (05.20.08)
3. Arabs ......
What more needs to be said? Egypt doesn't deserve a single shekel of our tourism money.
Terry ,   Eilat, Israel   (05.20.08)
4. you gave them back the sinai
Be glad the Egyptians didn't 'accidently' blow your boats out of the water That's the arab way of repaying dummies who appease them and surrender their land for nothing but lies in return. You surrendered Gaza and now you have missiles raining down on your cities .What is your next move ? Jerusalem and Judea and Samaria. and you expect peace ???
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.20.08)
5. Egypt's approval should be sought not assumed
It is a lack of common courtesy and down right stupidity for the organizers of the competition and the yacht's men in particular to take the Egyptians approval as a given. Disappointment could have been avoided if proper protocol had been observed and the Egyptians approval had been sought well in advance of the race. The American aircraft carrier was denied access to Hong Kong harbor recently and the poor crew had to spend their well anticipated R&R at sea, for the same reason.

6. Egypt
The language Marcel and Eliat demonstrate are counterproductive. They said it was a mistake, people are human you know.Plus the sinai was never ours to begin with !
Hashem ,   Haifa,Israel   (05.21.08)
7. EGYPTIANS ARE AN EMBARRASSMENT EVEN AMONG THE ARAB WORLD
They are to their arab neighbours what Austrian are to the Swiss and what the Belgians are to the French.

"The route begins in Turkey, passes by Israel and continues through southern Egypt towards the Red Sea." And it's been the same route for the past 4 years. The Egyptians knew that the Israelis along with the others would be entering their waters for their race. If it was a matter of gaining approval the Egyptians would not have made excuses for not allowing them to pass.

9. mutual treatment applies for land and sea
do you remember the Gazan pilgrims whom Israel denied their entry back into Gaza, 5 month ago. The poor pilgrims had a couple of them died because they did not expect to be stranded in the harsh desert cold for several days. The problem was solved only when Egypt defied Israel decision and opened its Rafah crossing for them.

10. No!, the delay was because of Ynet's map, they used
((The route begins in Turkey, passes by Israel and continues through southern Egypt towards the Red Sea.)) To their astonishment, they have found Egypt in up-side down position; they reached "Northern Egypt" , but they anticipated to be in Southern part first! I traveled twice, before and after 1967, from Lebanon to Egypt in a passenger ship using a regular sea line. In the second trip after 67, the ship took 6 hours more; because the ship had to take a further course towards Cyprus, away from Israel. They did want to be another "Liberty" victim. No sir, Israel has always been our bad luck!

11. Comeon guys give these Egyptians a break
It's not that they don't want to do the right thing by the Israelis. They are just not capable of doing anything right by anyone.Maybe a bit of baksheesh might have helped.
Weekend Yachtsman ,   Blue Sea   (05.21.08)
12. peace
May be the Egyptians prefer to have a complete peace between you and the arab world including the Palestinians before letting you on their soil and water.
Laila El-Attar ,   Alexandria, Egypt   (05.22.08)
13. "their soil and water"
Did Egypt build the Suez? I'm pretty sure Egypt hasn't built anything substantial for, oh, several THOUSAND years. But by all means, let's let Egypt (and Panama) strangle world travel by imposing petty politics on the water.
David ,   San Francisco, USA   (06.19.08)
