'Olmert the interrogee won't move us away from here'     Hagai Einav
1. Once again letting a small band of criminals decide our fate
After Oslo and disengagement you'd think the Israeli public would be wise to the use of stinking maneuvers being used as the basis of deciding our fate.
Ilan ,   Ariel   (05.21.08)
2. Israe´l
Olmert and all his crap must go, or be gone! Period.
Marcelo ,   Frankfurt   (05.21.08)
3. Don't Enable Criminal Settlers
Only a tiny, radical, reckless global minority still believe that the Golan Heights belongs to Israel. The US needs to stop enabling this despicable, criminal, and deadly behaviour - rich
Rich ,   Wisconsin, USA   (05.21.08)
4. The TRUE axis of evil
Is the Kadima Labour Meretz alliance
Arie ,   BaGolan   (05.21.08)
5. Wake up Tel Aviv and Haifa - Olmert will offer you next
The "powers" that be in Ramallah, where our current administration is, believe that the residents of Israeli Golan will allow themselves to be removed like those in Gaza were? Our Ramallah based Kadima (what a misnomer) leadership doesn`t or refuses to accept that most Israelis have fully accepted the incorporation of the Golan into Israel proper.Any attemo\pt to move us will be met with no less resistance then trying to remove Jews from Haifa or Tel Aviv, which I am sure is on Kadima`s agenda. Their goal has become two-fold: surrender the State and stay out of jail. Unlike Gush Katif, NO Israeli soldier will accept any orders from Ramallah to remove us!

6. me too
i will stand with you united on the golan hights, and they will have to kill me before taking me down.

7. Nobody can deny Olmert can pull a bunny out of his hat
During the ongoing corruption investigations against Olmert, there were those (Leftist) commentators who said Olmert would try something like a Gaza operation to divert attention from his predicaments. But, I must say, in the realm of amazing acts of self-extrication, this latest stunt by Olmert is definitely on par with Houdini. The next act by the Amazing Olmert is the saw routine on Lady Israel, only its the real thing, not an illusion. And in the final act, the prestige, ladies and gentlemen, the Amazing Olmert presents to you the incredible disappearing Israel.

8. #3, dream on
"Only a tiny, radical, reckless global minority still believe that the Golan Heights belongs to Israel. The US needs to stop enabling this despicable, criminal, and deadly behaviour " Ha ha. Sticks and stones did not succeed to budge the Israelis from the Golan, and your words won't either. And neither will the reckless behavior of Olmert the patsy. Deal with it.

9. IT'S FIVE MINUTES BEFORE MIDNIGHT. WAKE UP!
To Eli Malka and Sammy Bar-lev: your duty is to make the Israeli public aware that the Golan Heights never were Syrian territory. They were an integral part of the Mandate of Palestine as granted to Britain by the resolutions voted unanimously by the 51 members of the League of Nations, the 24th of July 1922. Article 5 says the following and I quote: "THE MANDATORY SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SEEING THAT NO PALESTINE TERRITORY SHALL BE CEDED OR LEASED TO, OR PLACED UNDER THE CONTROL OF, THE GOVERNMENT OF ANY FOREIGN POWER". Unquote. Nevertheless, Britain, in a scandalous and treacherous breach, ceded the Golan Heights in 1923 to France, the Mandatory of Syria, in the sole interest to secure Mosul's oil fields to Irak. A Mandate is a Trust, according to ART. 80 of the UN Charter. Israel's decision to impose its Laws on the Golan Heights on December 14, 1981, RIGHTED the WRONG that was commited by the British in March 1923. Syria cannot make a standing claim in an International Court of Law, due to the fact that the Golan Heights as they are known today were never part of Syrian Real Estate, but part of the Palestine Mandate. Israel's incompetent and corrupt leadership must stop transforming a good case in a bad trial. It must become clear to everybody, that ceding, in other words giving the Golan Heights away to Syria as a mere present, by any Israeli leader will be considered as an act of high treason.

10. Syria and the Golan
Syria controlled the Golan for 19 years, beginning in 1948, and used it to systematically shell and attack the Israeli towns below, such as Ein Gev and others in the eastern Galilee. 140 Israelis were killed in these attacks, many more were injured, and heavy property damage was also inflicted. Israel liberated the Golan Heights in the 1967 Six Day War, thus freeing northern Israel of the Syrian threat. Israel soon realized that the Golan was vital not only militarily, but also in terms of water, history, and more. The Golan was officially annexed to Israel in 1981, and over the years, 33 Jewish communities were built, including the full-fledged town of Katzrin. Today, close to 17,000 Jewish residents in 33 communities (27 kibbutzim and moshavim, 5 communal settlements and the town of Katzrin) live on the Golan Heights and the slopes of Mt. Hermon. 11. The ENEMY is WITHIN the Gates - Pro-Islam Pro-Terror Olmert
Every concession, every surrender by Israel results in intensified WAR and huge increase in Jewish deaths. U.S. puppet Olmert will NOT make a single move without America telling him what to do. Traitor Olmert sells out Israel to Syria/Iran/Hizbullah/Hamas/PA/PLO et al with the diabolical claim it is for "peace". Seething with venomous Jew-hate, the Islamic world lust after infidel Israel's destruction and Jewish genocide. US/EU are actively seeking a Second Holocaust via a global Islamic terror state reducing tiny Israel at mid-section to 9 miles wide INDEFENSIBLE, Auschwitz borders. Will the IDF REFUSE to cooperate in this terrible crime against the Jewish people? Instead of COOPERATING in global jihad as was perpetrated in the vicious ethnic Jew cleansing of Gaza? Israel take to the streets! A new, PATRIOTIC government now! Set up training camps. Every Jewish man, woman and teenager must be trained and fully armed to defend against the Islamic enemy. Please, G-D, protect Jews

12. No to any more land to be ceded from Israel.
Israel is such a small nation only a remnant of her once land from the Euphrates and the nile. Olmert must be voted out of office, he's mad.
petra ,   usa   (05.21.08)
13. Rich, every poll shows you're full of crap
Rich (#6) in Wisconsin claims "Only a tiny, radical, reckless minority still believes that the Golan Heights belongs to Israel." Every survey done in recent years shows this claim is nonsense. Poll after poll shows that over 70% of Israelis support retaining the Golan Heights under Israeli sovereignty. The majority of Knesset members agree. Heck, the majority of Kadima opposes ceding the Heights to Syria, as do most senior Israeli military officials. Wisconsin used to be known for mid-western common sense. Perhaps a few of your neighbors who haven't drunk the progressive kool-aid can set you straight.

14. He Who Owns The Mountain Is King
Syria does not have the military might to make a peace promise to Israel if they regain control of the strategically located Golan Heights. They don't call it 'Heights' for nothing.
Sarah ,   USA   (05.21.08)
15. Arabs Think Peace Is Acquired By Demanding Land
So, the way the Syrians and Palestinians try to make peace is by demanding land for themselves. Hey, Israel, demand some land then you can be a peacemaker too! I suggest ALL of Jerusalem with absolutely no compromise.
Sarah   (05.21.08)
16. Giving up Golan is Giving up the ghost
Since we conquered and annexed Golan we have had de facto peace on that border. Giving up Golan cannot possibly improve our security - except "in theory." So why consider giving away this critical real estate for something theoretical, something not real? Even if the Syrian government really was sincere, I don't believe it would be as careful about protecting Israel (and Jordan)'s water supply as we have been. Jews have traditionally been falsely accused of poisoning wells. Such vicious ideas were invented by the enemies of the Jews. I fear that, since poisoning or diverting our water is already in the minds of our enemies, if Israel gives up control of (the northeast corner of) the Kineret, our water supply - our existence - is doomed.
Yerushalimey ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.21.08)
17. to # 3
The Golan Heights was part of ancient Israel. Even in modern times it was never populated by Syrians. There are, however Druze villages there, but certainly one can say that Syria’s claim to the area is no more valid that Israel’s.
Yehudi ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (05.21.08)
18. olmerts the only one who has anything to gain but we loose
The worst part of it is that its depresing that our politicians are so corupt and giving up land isnt even about peace half the time its about legacies or in Olmerts case its not just nobel prizes he has flashing in front of his eyes its another attept to keep himself out of jail. Once he is no longer PM the police can charge and arrest him now he dreams up all kinds of excuses to stay on like peace talks are at sensetive stages and if I resign now it will all be ruined We haver had a vrtual peace for 30 years now thanks to the Golan buffer zone & the Syrian knowladge that if they mess with Israel then they will regret it ... Syrias glory days of the 60s & 70s are long gone. Its a trategic millitary position even in an age of smart bombs and missles high ground is allways tacticly important. There is no just reason to give the place up as the demographic majority are jews who live in peace with their druze naighbors who will also find themselves pushed out once Assad starts filling the Golan with arabs for political reasons show he has a prize for Syria Possibly creating more instability in the region. A Syrian Golan puts Iran right on Israels front door Assad will never break off his strategic alliance with Iran. Our water sources will be under threat like they were before 1967. There is also the cost issue. Moving 8000 jews from Gaza cost over $1 billion. In the Golan its about 4 times that much and thats just the intial cost of moving. We have to find jobs for all those people and they cant be invented out of thin air so the state is going to find itself looking after them indefaintly. There will be the extra cost to the millitary having to pay for new bases and buying new equipment. Then we also loose all the revenue that the Golan earns. The economy will be hit very hard and taxpayers will be paying the bill for the next decade. What we need now is a constiution drafted by indipendent outsiders who have no conection to the Knesset and with input from the Israeli public its the only way to stop crooked politicians interpriting laws as they see fit.

19. Cheer! you will be soon Syrian citizens-Assad will hug you
But you will not need t o care long, after Israel returned Goland back to Syria, strike Iran, meanwhile you will be Syrian citizen, As soons as Israel settles account with Iran, it will re-occupy Golan, Who can stop? International public opinion? You will serve in largest Trojan hores ever built to fool Syrian Government By they way your main problem was with Arabs, now cede to arabs to escape from Iran problem next it will involve ever larger players against Israel

20. Who is quoted in the headline of this story?
Can anyone find anyone in this article that was quoted as saying: 'Olmert the interrogee won't move us away from here' Who accused Olmert of being an "interrogee" and what does "interroge" mean? Ingrate?
Joel Bainerman ,   Tekoa, Israel   (05.21.08)
21. What will Israel drink when Syria cuts off water?
Syria cut off Israel's water, by diverting the Jordan River, many years ago. If Olmert the Imbecile gives away Golan to the Syrians, you can COUNT on them cutting off Israel's water supply. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO STOP HIM??
