1. Humiliating amounts
Dr D ,   Jerusalem   (05.28.08)
Barak must be furious that the position of PM was such a waist . $ 150'000 is totally stupid. He would have probably got hundred time more and now he is afraid that the future genuine benefactors of our government will think that some little cash, a box of Esplendidos and a Presidential Rolex will do the job. I am curious to know if Barak is still enjoying some large Havana . Barak and Olmert believe that they can still put smoke in our eyes with their Cohiba. Wrong!!
2. Elections Immediately! No stand ins!
Jay3 ,   Israel   (05.28.08)
We cannot afford to have Livni run the country in Olmerts absence. She is worse than Olmert when making decisions. Only answer is ELECTIONS NOW!
3. Barak hungry for power; do not trust this liar!
Chanalau, Tova ,   London, UK   (05.28.08)
Barak has shown over and over again he is a liar and a cheat; the worst possible leader to choose. Tzipi would be better; she is honest, pretty and intelligent even if she is a likudnik, she is better than that so-called "labour" leader Barak.
4. Elect Bibi - melech Israel, chai, chai, ve chaiyam!
Dawg ,   Israel   (05.28.08)
Compared to Olmert's crimes, Netanyahu is a boy scout - but can govern with the iron fist this country needs - and knows how to put two words in English together.... Never thought I would say it, but we need Bibi!!!
5. Secular socialist Zionism is finished
Andras Bereny ,   Kfar Tapuah, Ephraim   (05.28.08)
6. THE KINGDOM OF ISRAELI SAUDIA(OLMERT BIN ABD-EL-AZIZ)
David ,   TA   (05.28.08)
i think that nothing can move Olmert out of PM nor Winaugrad report ,nor Lebanese war in 2006,nor what's happening on boarder with Gaza, neither corruption,he became as Kings AQbdullah(both of them), Husni Moubarak & other Arab leaders
7. DISCOVERY IN ISRAEL
Gideon Reader   (05.28.08)
Ahhhh. The ITCA (the International Testostorone Control Administration) has as recently as today discovered a teensiest, tinyest, trace of testostorone among the callow shallow, reckless and feckless polititurds of Israel's stalwart warts; who at this late date search their commodious pants and find shrunken and shriveled baytzim that allow them to meekly call so timorously for Olmert the Failed, the glue fingered alleged PM of Israel to take a vacation. A first class flight to some other clime, ostensibily paid for by someone else other than himself of course, where he can watch videos in a multi star hotel a night bazillion star hotel and doodle with an expensive "gift" pen, while puffing on a ten dollar cigar. Maybe have a soft drink from one of Talansky's minibars. Maybe not. Got any change? No envelope needed.
8. Crooks in power
Jacob ,   Florida   (05.28.08)
We have this and other problems because we persist in electing the same gang of crooks over and over –– elitists whose only agenda is to fill their own belly. We ignore that electing crooks ensures that they will be easily blackmailed by foreign powers bent on the destruction of Israel for their own evil purposes. Why do you think that Israeli politicians have demoted the sovereignty of Israel to the point of being a mere subservient district of America? Ah, but the Israeli electorate has become more adept to their idolized politicians, and parties, than to think responsibly on the evident effects of their continual wrong choices. We should all remember that if in politics we plant a crook in office then we shall gather a disgraceful traitor. Therefore, there should be severe laws against politicians who having promised one thing deliver the opposite once they are in office. If betraying is the verb which expresses the action of a traitor, then betraying pre-electoral promises is an evident form of treason –– must of all when these promises have to do with the very survival of the nation. Such action should be penalized according to the Law. The evil plague that actually desolates Israel is due –– among other things –– to the same kind of corrupt people being voted into power over and over again. But isn't doing the same thing over and over, while expecting a different result, a clear sign of dementia? When will we come out of our stupefied craziness?!
9. Employment Opportunity In Israel
Marcel ,   Florida   (05.28.08)
The Globalist Elites and Master Geroge are looking for a new, loyal stooge and lap dog to run their declining enterprise,Israel. The candidate must be obedient and roll over on command, and no how to lie with a straight face,no religious need apply. Must sing the Road Map song without missing a beat and be prepered to evict hundreds of thousands of fellow Jews from their lnad and homes for a box of counterfeit Cuban cigars in return. Deep seated and hidden hatred for Israel will give the candidate we choose a preference in our choosing Ehud Olmert's replacement. Ehud Barak has our blessing although 'Benji' our dog Netanyahu pulled it off and deceived the right without this desired quality .
10. Olmert must stand up like a man and quit!
Miriam ,   NEGEV   (05.28.08)
Call new elections this summer.
11. NEW ELECTIONS NOW
Stephanie ,   Israel   (05.28.08)
Vote Bibi
12. DISPERSE That ALL TO IT ! MOVE ON ! GO FORTH !!!!
YITZAK BEN SHLOMO ,   SINGAPORE   (05.28.08)
13. #10 - Olmert's a rat, not a man
Millie ,   Israel   (05.28.08)
Now, maybe he'll scurry away down his hole before he steals all of the cheese. There's aways hope. New elections tomorrow, if not sooner.
14. #6,You are absolutely right
Mahmoud ,   Egypt   (05.28.08)
We,Arabs looked before to Israel with respect for its democracy when other PMs(who were more powerful than olmert) as Beigin, Shamir, Sharon that resigned for small reasons while this dumb olmert is really like our Arab kings which nothing can move them from their chairs ,so it's really I suppose that Nasrallah is right when he says that Israel will vanish by itself even from inside because of corruption and of this
15. And will the rest of the appeasers be leaving with olmert?
Arie ,   BaGolan   (05.28.08)
Do the honourable thing Barak, and quit now showing by example that there is no place for dishonour in government
16. # 5 kfar Tapuh is stolen land
Citizen X ,   TA   (05.28.08)
If anything is finished it will be the illgal settelement of Kfar Tupah, enjoy it while you can my friend because soon you will be living in Palestine.
17. The right course of Action
Brod ,   USA   (05.28.08)
is Dissolution and Election.
18. Do you forget?
(05.28.08)
Do all of you talkbackers forget what he authorized in Syria back in September. That move, destroying their nuclear capability has not been publicized enough, and if he was a politician and not a statesman, he would capitalize on that. Syria's nuclear capability was at an advanced stage, and he destroyed it. He saved the State of Israel, and gave her back the upper hand.
19. Thank God, but this should've been done after the Lebanon
war!!! ,   miriam migdal Israel   (05.28.08)
20. This will not be determined by us," Barak said.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, DC USA   (05.28.08)
So once again Barak shows himself to be a man of weasel words, not action. So it's Kadima that must make those difficult decisions. For your part, you'll wait another two months to maybe consider doing something about this situation. It appears Olmert is not the only one lacking in shame.
21. OK, so what's new? Will Olmert listen?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.28.08)
It must be obvious to all the Talkbackers on YnetNews and Ynet Hebrew that, with all the venting, cursing, insulting and even pleading, Olmert and the other politicians of the FULL spectrum of Israeli politics, couldn't care a damn what we, the citizens of this country or anyone else, thinks. It should be noted that according a report on Israel Channel 2 TV by Rina Matzliach, there is no mechanism under Israeli law to impeach the Prime Minister. An election will cost the country about NIS 100 million. Now, before we all scream about proroguing the Knesset and holding a General Election we must remember that in Israel this process will take at least two months and after the election another two to three months before a government is sworn in! So, the question is not whether there should be an election now with Hezbollah basically taking over Lebanon, Syria's belligerence in the guise of "peace", the Iranian threat and let us nor forget Hamas and our MIA's. Economically the economy can handle another NIS 100 million down the drain but what will we get in return? Another hamstrung collation and months of horse-trading which will return the status quo. The only good thing will be if Olmert realises by some miracle the he must go for the sake of the country! Is that too much to ask, Mr. Olmert? Quite frankly, it looks like an election brewing!
22. #14 - Mahmoud and Nasrallah
Eric ,   Montreal, Canada   (05.28.08)
You are both wrong! Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia, etc. have been corrupt for decades. Have they vanished? NO! Why then Israel should vanish because of corruption? Your argument makes no sense. Also do not forget that the Olmert case is being investigated by the police, Therefore the process of removing him will take place in due time if he is found guilty. Therefore even if he may be corrupt there is no reason to assume Israel is a corrupt country as the country is doing what is required to combat corruption. Your Arab countries have a lot to learn from Israel!
23. To # Dawg: Crimes or alleged crimes?
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (05.28.08)
Yes Dawg, nothing has been proven in a court of law and we are all entitled to a fair trial. The Winograd Commission did not bring charges against him. A pity but they had to respect the legal restrictions that were imposed by the law, the same law that guarantees all of us the right to defend ourselves in court. Just remember Dawg that many in this world think that Olmert should be tried on war crimes for bombing Lebanon. It is absurd but a fact. Yes, Olmert MUST GO NOW and he has to decide to do one of two things: resign NOW or destroy Kadima and Sharon's ideal. If there is an election Kadimah will be destroyed. Is that what he wants?
24. vote Ehud Barak
observer   (05.28.08)
he will convince Olmert to satisfy himself with the economic class and also the luxury of the hotels' double-room.
25. #22
Mahmoud ,   Egypt   (05.28.08)
it's israel has too much to learn from Hizbullah & how to fight ,even Winaugrad said in his report: few thousands(2000-3000) fighters of Hizbullah prevented the biggest & most powerful army in ME to fulfil it's goals and conquered it. Moreover, investigations of olmert can take months and finish the same as in egypt or saudi arabia with no results,so congratulations for you all with your olmert & you have to live with him not we.
26. GUILTY ALREADY?
ROLAND SEENER ,   LONDON ENGLAND   (05.28.08)
MUCH AS I DISAGREE WITH OLMERT,HE IS PRESUMED GUILTY BEFORE EVEN ASSESSED THAT IT IS NECESSARY TO PROSECUTE HIM...THAT ISN'T JUSTICE.IT IS CHARACTER ASSASSINATION BY THE PUBLIC...EVERY POLITICIAN HAS HAD MUD SLUNG AT HIM BY THOSE WHO DISAGREE WITH HIS POLICIESINORDER FOR THE OPPOSSITION TO MUSTER ITS FORCES TO RWEPLACE HIM.ALTHOUGH ISRAEL IS BEING LED AT A DANGEROUS TIME,IT IS THE WAY THAT THINGS GO THAT HE IS BEING ASSESSED FOR A FINANCIAL DEMEANOUR AND NOT ON POLICY DECISSIONS...NO DOUBT ALL POLITICIAN CELEBRITIES HAVE A BLACK SPOT INCLUDING THE DEFENCE MINISTER EHUD BARAK,IN LIKE MANNER THEY TOO SHOULD BE PILLAGED AND REMOVED FROM OFFICE ...BECAUSE... I DON'T LIKE ANY OF THEM TOO!
27. zilberstein says olmert will remain
alex   (05.28.08)
So, if Ehud does not resign, Barak can support no cofidence motions or early elections or vote against olmert on any one of a number of tracks. You can see Olmert who loves dirty politics, is thinking: Bring back Lieberman's 11 seats with a bribe, swing right and bring in united torah so that he could replace labor's 18 or 19 seats. The problem is the die is cast. Everyone knows the ship is sinking and wants to get off, even kadima. Even bibi is not that popular but Olmert wins the prize as the worst appeaser of any PM. So, the end is coming, Olmert will spin and fight and stay and will not leave. No, he will not leave. He will have to be dragged, kicking and screaming out of the PM ofifice where he has stained its legacy. We all wish Aliza well in dealing with the fact that her husband is a a small time crook whose fetish is pens, watches, nice hotels and massages. The olmert family will have difficulty staying together and it may be that olmert will become a batchelor again. Good luck.
28. olmert's thinking
marv   (05.28.08)
OK, barak has challenged Olmert to resign or vacate. Olmert is not worried. Israelis, you have to understand that at his core he is a coward-so his reactions are if I can't have it, neither can you. So through zilberstein, his hack, he will take down all the politicans he can including barak by throwing mud at them. if I can't have it, neither can you. This is his sickness, he does not think of israel. That's why maryland's governor who he is meeting says he is serene. He will now screw all those who have turned against him including the state of israel who he has royally screwed the last 1 1/2 years. Its fine by me, because much of kadima and some of labor are a bunch of weakling and olmert types. Go ahead, besmirch Ramon, who is a nothing politico, besmirth Mofaz who had no business ever beating Vilani for chief of staff, besmirch Livni, who a bad case of cowardice in her veins, besmirch hasson and yisai who are favor grubbers. Go ahead and do it. Ehud, one huge problem awaits you,:Aliza will soon announce to you that she wants time away from you.
