Ehud still thinks if he brings an miracualous peace based on total israeli concessions and nothing else, israel will be a fun place and the israeli electorate will reelect him. There is zero chance of that as Israelis despise this weak, hedonistic small time crook, who for 2 1/2 years has sold israel's brand down the drain. Now his aides spin that he will weather it. No, Ehud, its beginning of the end, even your friends are now abandoning you to look out for themselves. One person who should be removed by voters in the next elections is Eli Yishai who sucked up to olmert at israel's expense for all this time. It doesn't matter if Talansky's cross examination destroys him. Israelis have reached the dead end with the coward of all cowards who can now enjoy his retirement with his 2 sons who also avoid IDF duty. What does Aliza do now with Ehud?

3. Olmert will weather the storm
David Feigenbaum ,   Netanya, Israel   (05.28.08)
Of course he will. He has allowed Israeli cities to be shelled at will He lost a war He promised three results from the lost war and accomplished none of them His select Winograd committee whitewashed him for purely political reasons He continues to bribe Shas to keep him in power He has participated in at least 5 shady deals, only escaping indictment "for lack of evidence" He has undercut the United States' position with respect to both Hamas and Syria Why should he quit "while he is ahead"?

criminal investigation. There's no way he can function as Prime Minister when he has such weighty personal problems.
6. ... the let's fire the "aide"
oferdesade ,   israel   (05.28.08)
for all we know, udi may be wanting to go home to wife & kids, and it's the aid who won't let him...
7. this happens when olmert gets friendly with dictaitors
zionist forever   (05.28.08)
He has on more than one occasion praised Abbas. He has in the past told Assad on record that he admires him for his leadership. He goes to international conferences & meets with arab dictaitors and kings. He has seen how great being a dictiaitor is, you have imunity from any kind of prosecution, the country is your private property and the people are yours to command. Now he wants to be a dictaitor as long as Olmert wants to be PM then it doesnt matter what anybody else in the country wants he will remain PM. Israel once a democracy today a dictitorship.
8. HE WILL WEATHER THE STORM............

THEN HE SHOULD DROP DEAD !
9. Olmert endangers Israel
Joe Kaufman ,   Formerly Jerusalem   (05.28.08)
Olmert is addicted to money and power. He is a sick man who may need a hospital rather than a prison cell. But under any circumstances, the stench that surrounds him is insufferable. As a public official he must be beyond reproach. Only those utterly lacking integrity could argue that he remain in office. People of Israel, take him out. Revolt. Do whatever you have to do to expunge this political disease from your government. Israel has lost it's claim to democracy. What kind of democracy could tolerate a leader so besmudged? Who cares if he is guilty of a crime. He is a sick political hack who is unfit to lead anywhere besides disaster. Even now, he puts his own survival ahead of that of the nation of Israel. Look at what you've put in power, people of Israel. Remove him before he destroys you.

Tal, no, olmert will not overcome the israeli people who are absolute in removing this cowardly politico who has a weakness for pens, watches and envelopes. Tal, don't screw israelis, olmert took cash all these years so it wouldn't be traced and he could some of it for his personal use, which he has already done. Also, reports say that he did favors for talanksy like his letter to adelson about getting talansky's minibars into his hotels. It doesn't matter if Adleslon didn't do business with Talansky. Olmert tried to influence him. Talansk y gave money so he could use Olmert's office in his own endeavors.
